I'm assuming this is for the school system?…read more I attended Garfield Elementary School was was amazing. I went there when it was first built and I loved my experience there. I felt the atmosphere was great and since it was a new building, the faculty took pride in their jobs and it showed in their teachings and interaction with the kids. Oh and their pool was where I learned how to swim for the first time. I also attended Revere High School which wasn't as pleasant as the previous school. It was old, rundown and dirty. I hated most things about it. There is never enough parking and the layout of the place just didn't make sense to me. The stairwells always smelled and the food was sub par. I do miss one thing about RHS and that was those huge gooey chocolate chip cookies they used to sell which I loved.

UFNS has helped my kids learn to interact with their peers in constructive ways as well as develop self confidence. Randi and Linda are both fantastic with the kids. They are experienced in child development and it shows. My favorite thing about UFNS is how inclusive it is. In the 2 years we've been going there, my children have had classmates with so many different backgrounds, heritages, and families. It's an amazing experience for my young children to get to meet other kids who aren't exactly like they are.

But the…read morelead teacher in my child's classroom was kind but joyless, and was far more interested in maintaining the organization of the classroom materials than in encouraging the children to play and learn. I absolutely understand that with 20 children in a room, things can get out of hand quickly, but that needs to be one of several objectives. For example, at drop-off, several children were playing nicely at a table, building from a pile of duplo blocks. Every minute or two, the teacher would instruct them from across the room to pick up the latest three or four blocks that had fallen under the table, rather than allowing them to continue to create or showing any interest in what they were doing. If she had stopped by the table to ask about what they were building and then also had them pick up, that would have been far better. Another day, I heard her rather sternly telling a preschooler that she was disappointed in how she was playing because "those toys don't go together". The offending action? The child had decided to put a couple blocks in the toy cash register instead of the play money. 3 and 4 year olds have such joy and creativity, a need to be able to explore through play, that it's a shame to stifle that, so we decided to move to a different arrangement.

From the moment I walked in I was very impressed with the staff, building/environment, and overall sense of community. The staff went above and beyond to answer all my questions, the director was knowledgeable and readily able to provide all information I requested! Money/fees never seemed to be a topic. If anything the director barely discussed it. She was very pleasant and spoke to all parents specific to their situation. The program is flexible and comprehensive. I am very excited to have my son attend preschool at Adams Street!!!
