For those who's not familiar with noodle carts, they were popular in the 90s in HK when street food sold in mobile carts that was not technically legal, but 'tolerated' and plentiful along the streets. It's basically a mini buffet selection of toppings that you pick to go on top of your egg noodles, topped with five spice and chili sauce. Nom nom nom. Now I must warn you this is a food court joint with noodles served in disposal bowls, spoons and chopsticks, but that's part of the experience (traditionally eaten on the side of the street). In fact, if you ask anyone who grew up or frequently visited HK in their heydays they'll tell you their greatest food experience is eating from street food carts and at outdoor food markets, not fancy chain restaurants or Michelin star restaurants. And for an hour today, Noodle Cart took me back there with their well balanced flavours, al dente egg noodles and delicious chili fishballs. Happy days.

The traditional Cantonese food is consistently good and always fresh. Located on busy King George's Rd, and next to a veterinary clinic (don't be scared), the restauant looks like an abandoned building used purely for advertising. But strip away the giant billboards and shocking blue paint job, and you'll find some of the best Chinese food in the area. One of my favourite dishes is the Peking duck (I know, how boring and cliché right?), so succulent, juicy and delicious. The honey pepper beef and Peking duck pancake are also great. Portions are large, and well priced. Competing with Yummy Seafood Chinese Restaurant across the road, Rising Sun can hold its own. The quality is similar to that of Yummy's, but the location and atmosphere at Rising Sun is a little lacking and for that reason I would probably prefer to eat at Yummy's. So my advice is: try them both and decide for yourself. Free parking next door is a plus, and a rarity in Beverly Hills, so make the most of it because there aren't too many other options around.

The Peking Duck is brought out on a trolley and carved in front of you, the first pancake plated up with the crispy duck skin and fat; crunchy cucumber and celery sticks; and covered with a dash of sticky sweet hoisin sauce. First course is the Peking Duck rolls, and second is the traditional San Choy Bow - made with the remaining meat of the duck and combined with some crunchy lettuce, button mushrooms and water chestnuts.
