Yumbo is the center of Gran Canaria gay universe. During the day it mainly caters to tourist shopping, carnival amusement and budget dining. At night almost the whole plaza turns into a gay wonderland of bars, restaurants, drag shows, dance clubs and even cruise clubs. The variety of gay nightlife is wide with something for everyone. Crowds can be hit or miss. We thought it would be more busy on the weekends, but so far that's not the case. Maybe everyone is in Barcelona for the huge circuit party. Still it's a fun place to bar hop and watch the nightly parade of people. Restrooms are surprisingly clean for such a huge plaza. read more

Yumbo is located in the centre of Playa Del Ingles. It offers everything from food and drink to brand named shops to bars and night clubs. There's something for everyone here. There's plenty to se and do here after a nice evening meal or lunch. The restaurants cater for all from, Chinese Buffets to Stake BBQ's. The nightlife is persuaded more to the Rainbow flag cultured folk but certainly doesn't dismiss any heterosexual couples of families. There's plenty of DragQueen shows which cater for the +18's as they can be a little rude :D later on there are clubs and late night bars. During the day you can have a walk round this multi-storey shopping centre and buy duty free Cigarettes and liquor or just presents for the family back home. Yumbo Centre is inoffensive. My review relates to FOTO DALAS cigarettes shop. Fake cigarette sellers. Selling Lucky Strike Luckies click cigarettes that are fake. Fortunately only purchased 1 x box of 200. When I showed the manager that there was no click in the filter and asked for a refund he grabbed the packet out of my hand and starting touching the filters which was really unhygienic. He kept saying "it's nothing to do with them." and "what do you want me to do". He was becoming very aggressive and I was alone. When I asked him to speak a bit more respectfully and listen to the noise of the defective/fake cigarettes two staff members gathered round me in an intimidating way claiming they could hear the click which was untrue. Felt very unsafe. Buyer beware. Good prices but fake products. read more

Yumbo Centrum: Shops/stalls: Warning, while we were walking around you will be pestered by stalls and a few store owners, and it's as bad as being in Marrakech for those of you who have been. But the warning is if you refuse to buy or go into the stores, then walk away with someone keeping an eye on those stalls owners because they will 'SPIT' on your back. We seen it twice in the first two evenings and since we just avoid the area (2nd floor) where their open stalls/stores are. Owners of the Yumbo Centre should really consider more CCTV on those stalls so tourists aren't attacked in such a vile way, after all shouldn't the local authorities be interested in protecting their 'walking money'. So 1 star for lack of responsibility towards their customers and general dirtiness of the centre. Yumbo Centrum is a place to head too for a wide range of restaurants, (burger bars to good dining), almost every evening we ended up there as there is a choice, and some places you can observe various cabaret shows. Again, bars and clubs are as wide in choice as restaurants. Now I would say go to places witch advertise their mix measures or make the drink in front of you, example would be 'Diamonds' show their measures and prices, and believe me when I say you will notice the alcohol level compared to 'Divinity' who don't, and was more expensive, in fact it was overpriced smoothies. read more

The Yumbo Centre is a huge concrete jungle of shops in the day which sell anything from Ray Bans to T shirts, At night there is a vast array of numerous bars which cater for everyones tastes from Drag Bars to Mens bars. A concrete jungle from the early eighties. So good its bad and so bad its good. Claiming to be a shopping centre, and whilst that was probably what it was built as, its now more restaurants and bars. During the daytime the place is really ugly, but at night it comes alive, everywhere lights up, and the darkness hides the faults of the place. On a positive note, it is very accessible with additional elevators recently installed, and there are a good amount of public toilets in addition to the ones inside bars and restaurants. read more

Fun Shopping mall in Maspalomas. Mostly Gay, some OK shops but it comes alive at night with a variety of Gay bars, Clubs and sex venues...Tons of fun especially if there's a Gay celebration in town, this is the place to hit in the evening. Cafes and restaurants are not very good, but they do the trick if in need to recoup energy. read more
