Great variety of Caribbean food/ snacks. Snacks were not fresh though. They were stale. The prices were reasonable.

This Caribbean-centric market is compact but well-stocked and neatly organized, although if an item eludes you, ask as it may be just a few steps away. The store shares two adjacent storefronts. Great source for produce at good prices. Besides readily available items, there are many common island ingredients: okra, peppers (Scotch bonnets, sweet, pimento), dasheen bush, callaloo leaf, and thyme. Groceries include many varieties of grains, salted fish (dry and wet in bag), sauces and seasonings, spices, snacks, and canned and jarred goods, and among them, plentiful Caribbean imports. Pig's tail and salted beef too! The fruits and vegetables are great to buy. Besides produce, I've also purchased canned ackee, dried sorrel petals, Crix crackers (multiple types), Golden Ray margarine, salted fish, salted beef, browning sauce, curry powder, and a myriad of other spices and seasonings. A great grocer for Caribbean cooking basics. Service is efficient and friendly. Conveniently located in the commercial area just outside the Sutphin E line station.

Beyond those, my standard purchases include: - K. Kloni or Vourderi sour cherry preserves - large containers of FAGE, the only yogurt I enjoy - melitzanosalata (eggplant dip) - Minerva Horio EVOO - pitted Kalamata olives - whole wheat pita And every so often, I treat myself to a bit of Manouri cheese, my all-time favorite, which I devour right away! So creamy, so yummy. I will always be loyal to Mediterranean Tastes, even after having recently moved 1 hour away, as I'd much rather spend my money there than at any supermarket chain. Especially these days when the political tyrants who "lead" America's states and cities have perpetually tried to destroy small businesses across the country, *loyalty* to those you know well is key! Mediterranean Tastes' inventory and variety are great, and the staff, including the owner Lefteri, whom I've long known, and Litsa, superb. I highly recommend this gem of a market to anyone seeking fresh, quality Greek food and snacks. I always, always leave there with a smile! You're likely to, too.

On my way out the door, the owner started yelling at me, "How am I going to resell this, the way that you cut it." Excuse me, but isn't that against Health Department regulations???!!! 3. I had purchased a container of grated KefalotyrI cheese on the same day as the kaseri cheese, but did not use it until today, approximately a week later. I was quite surprised when I tasted it ..... it was Myzithra.... a much cheaper cheese! 4. The owner of this store, Mediterranean Tastes, is a nasty, arrogant thief, entirely lacking customer service skills! 5. If I could give this establishment a ZERO rating, I would!

Inside is small, the front by the register is full of signs tape around the window. The isles are stocked with rice, dry candy and bread. If your not here for the sandwiches, I suggest checking the dates on everything else. If your not sure what to order the menu choices are on a Boars Head board with different sandwich options and the prices are displayed. Prices were reasonable, mostly below $10.00. In addition to deli sandwiches, they make breakfast sandwiches as well. The guy behind the counter had patience, and accommodated my order. I initially ordered the Honey Baby from the menu, as he wrote down my order, I changed my mind and replaced the honey mustard for mayo and the swiss cheese for provolone. The sandwich bread was soft, the turkey was sliced thin and folded. It was neatly wrapped and cut. I would go back again and try the turkey pastrami.
