This dentist and staff were very nice and did a wonderful job for my husband. The reason for one star review is as follows: We are on a fixed income, in our 80s. So, I called before the appointment to ask what the cost would be if my husband needed a filling. I was told $50. The cleaning, exam and filling were covered under United Healthcare dental policy, but the filling was not. We asked the doctor before the filling was done, just put in a temporary one. After our payment of $56 on the day of the filling procedure, I thought we were paid up. Then, I got a bill for $106. When I called the practice and reminded them that we were told $50, she said It was just an estimate. From an estimate of $50 to $162 does not sound like an estimate to me. I paid it and cancelled all of our future appointments. This is a warning to anyone going to this dentist. read more

I've had only two experiences with Dr. Yurkos practice, but both were perfect. When I entered the office I was greeted with a friendly smile and waited for less than five minutes before being taken to the exam room by Beverly who did X-rays and prepared me to see Dr. Marino. Dr Marino was exceptional- kind and reassuring. I hadn't seen a dentist since covid so was a bit nervous. No cavities! I returned a few weeks later for a cleaning, this time with Angela. She was thorough and very gentle and the process was over easily. I would highly recommend this practice - everyone I came into contact with was professional and very caring. Nobody enjoys going to the dentist I guess, but this was a very positive experience. read more

I had been going to this dentist office for several years until I had had enough . Let me explain. I have a few crowns in my mouth, and unfortunately, a time or two one has come off, but it was an old crown, so that was to be expected eventually. I called the after-hours emergency line and was always told to call the office the next day. If you have an emergency with this dentist, he will not see you until the next AVAILABLE appointment. And by the way, when a crown comes off and that tooth has not had a root canal, it hurts!!! Anyway, last week, a crown less than a year old came off. I called the office right away at 4 pm! The dentist was busy as normal, but the receptionist refused to interrupt him to ask real quick to see if I could come in to have the crown glued back on. Two hours later, I was told that I could either come in at 8:30 two days later OR call the other dentist who has since left this practice to see if he could glue it back on! Really!? What doctor or dentist tells a patient to go somewhere else? Well, that's exactly what I did! And I will never ever go back to this office after this treatment. I have been a loyal patient and spent thousands of dollars with them! I will now take my business elsewhere! I saw Beth for my cleaning and X-rays on a day when my puppy was sick and I was so anxious. She was very calming and patient as I struggled with worry. You'll love her! This is the only dentist I will ever see again while I am living in Waynesville. I saw doctor Paige, his assistant Anne, and receptionist Nancy. They were all so friendly and welcoming when I first arrived. Doctor Paige was very accommodating with my financial expenses, being I am on social security. Dr. Joseph Yurko has been my dentist since we moved to the Waynesville area nearly five years ago, and I couldn't be more pleased with the professional and caring service we've received in that time. In addition to the regular, semi-annual checkups and cleanings - expertly conducted by Debi, a most competent, professional and vivacious hygienist, I had a serious dental issue that convinced me this practice is one to stay with. About two years ago, I had some severe tooth pain that turned out to be concentrated in a molar that had developed a crack. Dr. Yurko suggested a crown that could possibly stabilize the tooth and prevent further damage. Dr. Yurko, with the able assistance of dental technician Linda, installed the crown. However, the tooth pain only got worse and eventually I was referred to an endodontist for a root canal. Turns out, the tooth was necrotic and would have to be extracted! Dr. Yurko was so concerned about what I'd been going through with all the pain along with the subsequent root canal that he refunded the entire cost of the crown procedure because, in his words, "we haven't served you well." Well, in fact, he DID serve me very well, as I eventually had an implant put in with Dr. Yurko preparing the replacement denture that sat atop the titanium bolt implanted in my jaw by the dental surgeon. He was with me every step of the way and just wanted to make sure that I was pain free and had healthy teeth! Every time I visit Dr. Yurko's practice I am treated with loving care and the utmost respect, and his professionalism, honesty and care show forth in everything he and his gracious staff have done for me. My first visit to this office was for a root canal so I was really hoping it would be a good experience. It definitely was. The staff is amazing from the reception desk to the chair. Dr. Yurko is gentle and really knows what he's doing. It was as pleasant as a root canal can be. I've seen Dr. Yurko for a couple months now and been extremely impressed with both him and his staff. One thing that sticks out in my mind is when I had to get a mouthful of X-rays, the dental technician literally RAN in and out of the room because she knew how uncomfortable the mouth camera is. That's how all of the staff is- kind, competent and caring. I found Yurko through my general care practitioner when I moved here and was so impressed that both my mother and father, who have lived in Waynesville for years, switched to him from their dentists. My first visit to his office was to cement a crown back. They saw me right away and that was a positive. The front office attendant was so sweet and made me feel so welcomed. The dental assistant was also so sweet and very professional. Dr. Yurko made me feel comfortable right away he was very professional and also gentle. I came back a few months later to have my teeth cleaned. Beverly was my hygienist. She was very kind and set me right at ease. Dr. Yurko came in to check my teeth, but before he started he chatted with me for a bit, he set me right at ease. I recently move here and I had gone to my former dentist for 26 years. I feel like I hit the jackpot again, and I will be here for many years to come. The practice already had great reviews, and now I know why. read more
