Although some of the front desk staff were surly and somewhat unhelpful early on, this situation seems to have greatly improved.

A terrible dental office. I went to them for 3.5 years before having enough. And I kept a lot of…read morethe negative things to myself, trying to have patience and understanding and knowing it's not a perfect world. Here are just some of the things I experienced: - --Bizarre interactions with the office staff - particularly the office manager (and one other). ZERO sense of accountability or humility when they are completely wrong and have no idea about your insurance (year after year), your estimates, your appointments, etc. They make things up as they go about their office "policies", including telling you that "all patients pay 100% up front for major procedures". What?? They always charged for each individual service as I went along, and I paid in full at the desk before leaving each time. Sounds normal, right? But then the manager starts calling that a "payment plan" and saying that "all the other staff were wrong" by charging at each visit for each service. Huh? That is paying for a service 100% - immediately after getting it. That is not a payment plan. Other dental offices have confirmed the absurdity of this. The manager has no idea what she is doing, whether it's regarding your insurance, your estimates, their "policies", or screwing up your appointment and then saying she didn't. --- Very bad experiences with a few (of the many) hygienists I saw there. One of them loved to sing loudly in your ear while she "cleaned" your teeth, and that only took about 7-8 minutes, pecking around on a few teeth, then floss and polish, and "ok! all done". One reviewer referred to them as the "Jiffy Lube" of dental offices. I agree. Move them in and get them out. --- Another hygienist was not-so-hygienic. I was very close to getting up out of the chair and leaving due to her strong...odor. I won't say more about that. Her very awkward behavior and comments were another thing I won't go into. And she too spent literally less than 8 minutes "cleaning" and continuously jabbing my gums with the suction. It seriously seemed like a bad prank. --- One reviewer noted that this is a "girl's club". VERY accurate for sure. And the staff turnover is something soo many people have mentioned - even out in the community. New people every time. And the few good ones are gone. Like no other business I've ever seen. The office manager will tell you that it's all "maternity leave". It is not. ---Another reviewer noted the very blatant political views proudly displayed at the front desk. I never saw that, but I can totally believe it. Another example of the lack of professionalism here. ---The atmosphere and human interaction is very cold and very impersonal. There's a sense of fear in the air. This is not at all your welcoming family dental practice where you develop a friendly human relationship with the staff/dentist/hygienist. I'm going to a new office now, and the difference is absolutely night and day. The people there are highly-professional, friendly and very personable. It's a breath of fresh air. ---And finally, the owners of Cataloochee Dental (2 dentists at another branch) have refused to respond after writing them a multi-page, well-thought-out and detailed letter about it all and asking them very nicely for a reply. I suppose reputation and regard for a patient's experiences don't matter? If enough people speak up, perhaps it will at some point.

I didn't have a dentist in Asheville yet, so I searched around for one with good reviews. I was able to get an appointment very quickly, and Dr. Peterson did a great job with the filling. I ended up making a new patient appointment after that, and my teeth were cleaned, X-rayed and photographed at angles I never knew existed. They don't cut corners here! I've since had some 10-year-old fillings replaced by Dr. Peterson, as well as new composites on my two front teeth where the old ones had chipped. The composite repair took several tries because of difficulties matching my tooth color, but they made it right with no extra charges. I have been blown away by the amazing customer service at this practice, and the overall kindness and awesomeness from everyone I've interacted with here. Price wise- well, I didn't comparison shop, but I'm thinking the prices here are about average for a high quality dentist. You get what you pay for. This place is worth it!

Then, Dr. Patel arrived and continued to provide the same level of compassion and attentiveness. I would highly recommend this practice who anyone who has dentist appointment apprehensive like I did in the past.

I called multiple locations and no one would accept my insurance , but more importantly no one could get me in for an appointment today. As soon as Emily answered the phone at Asheville dental , I knew my luck was changing . She was so sweet and sympathetic. She made sure to explain everything to me including costs, since my insurance is no good in North Carolina and she got me in for an appointment in the afternoon. They sent me a text with all the information and a link to my paperwork so I could fill everything out before I arrived. I made sure to get there early and the offices are warm and welcoming. I gave my name in the front and they checked me in. I was called back right at my appointment time. I explained my situation and Makayla was patient and understanding. She checked my teeth and took an x-ray and made sure to verify the cost with me. Dr. Powell came in to examine me and he was absolutely wonderful. He explained the issue and provided me with lots of options . He answered all of my questions and I left feeling super hopeful and incredibly relieved. Thank you to Emily and Makayla and Dr. Powell! I hope you know what a difference you made in my life today.

There are several issues with this place. I'll elaborate. This place talked with my mom for a while…read moreon the phone, and my mom repeatedly said I have no dental insurance in their talk of several minutes. I shortly after get a text message to bring in my insurance card. That's quite unprofessional to not make notes of someone, and just giving them a generic response, which wouldn't be the first time they are inattentive either. I addressed to the nurse and Dasher that I'm vegan, which is blatantly disregarded later on, as I'll get to that soon. Also, my mom thought the plants in there were real, but I knew they were fake, and even the nurse said they're fake. Real plants help with oxygen, creativity, and other benefits. Their plants are as fake as their care. Dasher doesn't know too much flouride harms the teeth, known as fluorosis, as there's even a word for it, and thinks just spitting out fluoride means it's safe, even though it does absorb into the mouth and skin, like plenty of other things. I'm not totally against flouride either. 98% of West Europe doesn't use fluoride, and they generally have far better teeth than here in infamous bad teeth, and generally awful health America. Denmark officially has the best teeth in the world, according to reports. Japan has far better teeth, especially with NASA giving them nano-hydroxyapatite, which Dasher says is inferior to flouride, even though peer-reviewed studies say it's the same strength or better for teeth. So, the education there is pretty bad. At least Japan, among other advances in health and intelligence over America, is very close to regrowing teeth with stem cells, probably by 2025, several reports say. It's blatantly better to have brand-new teeth than none or fillings. Even after those two issues, I still was willing to go back there. However, the issue with veganism occurs, and this is problematic for anyone with allergies, or any religion, which a dentist place could be used for. I'm prescribed antibiotics, which I really didn't want since loads of peer-reviewed studies of my Russian roots, American studies, and so forth point to garlic being a far better antibiotic than synthetic antibiotics, since it doesn't kill good bacteria, and doesn't build tolerance, unlike synthetic ones (which about 80% of synthetic ones go towards animal agriculture). My mom had her first son pick it up. We trusted this office to handle the appropriate antibiotics, which turned out to be in poor outcome of a half-ass dentist office. The pharmacy won't take back an unopened bag and unopened bottle of pills. I addressed my concerns to the office in two emails. One email was on July 28th, addressing fluorosis, and the other info of Denmark, and so forth. I provided loads of screenshots to validate my claims. It was actually a favor to them so they're aware. No thank you. No reply. No call. No text. August 1st, I email them about the prescription, and the severity of how it can impact people of allergies, religions, and vegans. No reply. I texted them, too. September 11th (wow, a day I witnessed the news of in Florida in my middle school days, and I was in a plane to NJ and back to Florida, seeing the towers only from above) they sent a letter without any reimbursement, without any apology, and says we cannot see you unless an emergency, along with other nonsense. I don't want them to harass me with letters. $6+ to send me a letter. They won't even send emails. Ironically, again, their email at the bottom of the silly letter. It takes them over a month to get back to me. You want to talk about incompetent, and narcissistic of an office. I will be leaving reviews with evidence on various parts of online. I let the oral surgeon he recommended know again like last time. Incompetent and uncaring office. It's good that this place isn't the only place around for dental in Arden/Asheville.

AER is on my way home from the city, and when I saw the "accepting new patients" sign on the front I stopped in and made an appointment with Dr Martins to schedule implants to provide a permanent solution. And I am so glad I did. Dr. Martins and his staff have been wonderful from day one all the way through yesterday when they installed the new smile. they carefully and accurately described the whole process, including potential challenges. Everything went exactly as described. The surgery went smoothly with no discomfort. Recovery was milder than expected, I took one ibuprofen the next morning and that was the extent of my discomfort management needs. Healing posts were installed a couple of weeks later, and then upgraded when my gums were ready. After another month or so of healing I came into the office to get "fitted" for my replacement smile. The electronic scanning process they used was so much easier to tolerate than the old-fashioned white "goop" molds that I had used previously that I was amazed. The molds had always been the worst part of major dental work for me. The replacement was ordered, and three weeks later when it arrived I went in for the installation. Again, no discomfort whatsoever, and it fit perfectly the first time. Now, I can smile again, and I can speak clearly again. Maybe the most amazing result came last night when for the first time in over two years I could brush all my teeth together, at the same time, with the same toothbrush. Maybe a little thing, but it signaled to me that my life was back to normal. I can't thank Dr Martins and his enough. For their kind attitude, their completely professionalism, their willingness to answer questions and work with me. And the amazing and wonderful results. I can not recommend Dr Martins and his team highly enough. I'm 73, and he is by far the best dentist I have ever had.
