Solid 4/5. Ordered the red snapper sushi and one negitoro roll ( tuna with green onion ) and salmon avocado roll . Nothing was offensive . My favorite was the negitoro with a little bit of the wasabi ginger and soy sauce ...yummy yum yum . Red snapper wasn't the best or worst I've had . I realize how lucky I am in California where it's really easy to get great quality fish. Even in the event that the fish is frozen and coming from Japan, it's only an 11 hour flight . Considering where I am in Canada it's decent ! Salmon avocado was also pretty decent . This place has a market section too where you can even purchase fruit and Waygu beef from Japan as welll Japanese candies . I'd come back to try some of their fried dishes .
The sushi here is incredible!! Always so fresh and some of the items from the fridge are such good value for the quality. Sushi is pricey but the quality is so good that it's well worth it. They're always super nice here. More of a take out spot but a couple of tables if you want to have a quick snack.
stopped into this unassuming little fish market. theres a restaurant in the back. we just grabbed a tray of uni super affordable and we saw an interesting uni ice cream so we grabbed that to try. uni was fresh and hit the spot. ice cream however was weird and would not buy again. they had some interesting products that we would try if we lived in toronto. frozen crab with crab butter. a lot of stuff was sold out by the time we got there but it looks like a solid spot.
The place is very authentic in their fishes and wasabi. You can eat there or take it to go, they also have a shelf of Japanese items for you to buy. Wagyu, uni sea urchin seem to be their signature food.
I really regreted that I didn't find this store earlier! It's definitely a gem downtown. If you like Japanese food, it's a must go place for you. Basically, it's a Japanese market that sells high-quality japanese groceries and ingredients. All fish there are sashimi-grade, which means you can eat them raw. If you buy fish fillet there, you can ask them to slice it like sashimi for FREE. You can also ask them to make it sushi for you, each sushi costs $1. I think it's pretty good deal. You can also order dishes directly from its kitchen, too. All in all, I enjoyed their food very much!
We came here on a Wednesday evening, and it was pretty quiet, with only a couple of other customers perusing the market. We got their premium sushi set, soft shell crab, and unagi don for dine-in. The food was delicious - my only feedback would be to serve sushi with an even amount of wasabi - some had a great balance of fish to wasabi, while others were much too strong. On the way out, we also grabbed a piece of salmon. The fish tasted super fresh when we had it for dinner the day after. It was about $15 for what ended up being 8 generous slices of sashimi. Slightly pricy, but great quality. The staff were super kind, serving us hot tea and explaining each dish as they were served. Yuzuki is a very unassuming spot, but I loved that it felt like a cozy, local gem.
Yuzuki Fish Market, located on Spadina near Adelaide, is a Japanese grocery store as well as a casual take out eatery. They are an extension of the Yuzuki restaurant at Bloor/Church. I've been to Yuzuki Fish Market several times for the Japanese groceries, mostly non-perishable (think noodles, snacks, etc.). The store also has a selection of premium fruits and seafood for sale as well (uni, toro, whole fishes, etc.). At the back of the store, there is a take out counter where you can order platters and other types of sushi to go. They have a small dining area up front if you'd like to eat it there. Overall, nice store to stock up on Japanese products or get take out. The fish for takeout is fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend!
I've been in a few times to browse produce and get take out sushi. It's always delicious and for the quality, not too pricey. The store has a small browsable area with sauces, dried goods, and a small fridge with seafood and produce. If you're looking for fancy Japanese fruits or sashimi this is the place.
This place just popped up out of the blue! Opening during a global pandemic? Extra star for luck! I ordered the sushi set for 2 people and it was the perfect amount. The quality of fish was excellent! We had a selection of 3 types of tuna, uni, ikura, etc. and there was no salmon in the box (that's a good thing). It was truly a premium variety. This is not what I'd call cheap and cheerful. It's authentic and you get what you pay for! I hope they get the traffic they deserve. I know we will be loyal customers!
Cool Japanese restaurant/takeout sushi/ store. They have some really authentic Japanese products flown in from Japan. Only one thing is that the shelves looks slightly empty. It is also nice that they have some unique Japanese items/snacks. They are located in downtown.
My sister introduced this market to me. We would normally order the sashimi from the market and enjoy it at home. However, this was my first time dining in from the restaurant menu. You had the option to either dine in or take out. My friend and I decided to order the sushi set and the chicken karaage. The quality and the quantity was enough for two people and it was delicious. There were more Japanese imported produced to browse through and purchase also. Highly will come back and have another dine in experience from this market.
Decided to try the sushi here on a whim. Beautiful presentation, but mixed feelings on the quality and taste. Most pieces were rather bland, yet left a slightly fishy aftertaste. Very mediocre sushi in my opinion, except for the uni which was top notch and tasted really sweet and creamy.
According to the other reviewers with more experience in Asia, this is the place to go for sushi in Toronto and as a relative noob to this cuisine, I can concur that the flavour is a cut above everywhere else that I've tried. This non-descript spot on Spadina on the east side just north of Adelaide used to be a kabob spot a few years ago and is now a Japanese food store and it's easy to walk right by without much to draw you in. In the very front there are a few seats facing the wall, ramen joint style, and then racks of imported Japanese packaged items like Pockys and other more unusual items I'm sure if you know what you're looking for. Then along the other wall are the coolers full of fish, ready for takeaway or even better, get them to make it into sashimi or sushi for you for a price. They charge by the piece to cut it up for you which is great! Be clear that this is not a restaurant, but is a grocery store, Japanese style. Similar to going to Loblaws and grabbing some fried chicken and finding a corner to eat it in at the store, but instead it's world-class sushi. Yuzuki also has a restaurant uptown on Bloor Street if you need a server and crave saki with your sushi. But this is their market and there are just 3 chef's seats at the back of the store where you order your bulk takeaway sushi orders. It's not inviting at all, except if you are me, then it's perfect! I've been at this market twice and was blown away both times. The first time I was alone and just picked a pack of tuna that was in my price range and had them slice it up. It was amazing! Served with the green tea I was in heaven as the effects of the flavours of the fish and ginger and wasabi kicked in. My meal was about $25 total and I was super happy leaving there although I did pre-eat. A woman from Mississauga drove down with a sushi craving sat down beside me and ordered a little meal with soup for herself, which looked good too. The next time I brought a friend and she was very impressed saying it was the best/freshest she had tried in Toronto. We each picked out a chunk of fish from the cooler, me tuna and her salmon. They asked if we were ok with the number of pieces from the selections and we said ok. Then when they served it we each got half of each pack of fish. That wasn't clear but hey, it worked for us as we got to taste each others selection. We got miso soup to go with it which was on the salty side and went well with the fish. Our bill was about $40 each out the door. I love how they garnish with edible flowers and plant pieces with a little rose on top of the wasabi, so cute. One leaf looked like a miniature cannibis leaf, very cool. Check out their website to see what they offer, but I'm sure it will be different from what you find when you look in their coolers. So get their friendly staff to give you more information about what you're looking at and what they recommend. Off the charts great, thanks for what you do Yuzuki!
How this works is you order and pay at the counter first, then sit down. I got the Kaisen Don ($57, after tax $64). I would say ambience is not the best, it's definitely meant to be a supermarket and not a restaurant so I found it kind of stuffy, just some chairs at a bar table along the wall and 1 table with 2 chairs. I was the only one dining in on this Sunday afternoon so I took the table. The waitress brings you a cup of water (no tea) and the wasabi soy sauce and disposable chopsticks. The food i would give 4 stars, uni was sweet and creamy and my favorites the sweet shrimp and scallop can do no wrong. The squid/octopus was also quite good. The other pieces I would say weren't quite as good as from what I'm used to expecting at Hana Don and the portion size was on the small size but it does come with salad and miso soup. read more

Their sushi was really good, especially for the price. I'm curious to try their uni next time. I'd pass on the sweet pumpkin and try sweet potato next time. It's in a market which is an interesting concept too. Cute read more

This is a store that is a hybrid of a convenience store with Japanese pantry items, fruit, sashimi grade seafood, and drinks, along with a restaurant that has takeout and dining options. They have specialty seafood items that make them a unique Japanese fish market. We had the premium $65 and regular $47 sushi sets. Both come with 10 pieces of sushi, with a tuna roll for the regular set and a green onion fatty tuna roll for the premium. The premium set includes more expensive pieces such as uni, salmon roe, otoro. We enjoyed the fish which was fresh and flavourful. I only wish the rice was warm considering the price point. The dining area is in a corner of the shop. To be honest the atmosphere isn't great as you are right by the cashier and items for sale. There is just one table and some barstool seating along the wall. We really enjoyed the freshness and high quality of the fish. I would recommend takeout or coming by to buy ingredients to make sushi at home. read more

Yuzuki Fish Market is a must-visit spot for everyone who loves Japanese food, sashimi, and groceries. It's like a mini Japanese supermarket with sushi restaurant. All the fish are sashimi grade and extremely fresh. You could feel the umami and the taste of sea. They also provide slicing service for customers. I have to say, it's amazing to have authentic sashimi with affordable price in Yuzuki, what a good deal ! I can't wait to visit again. read more

Randomly found this place on UberEats as I was craving for some GOOD sushi. I tried the seafood don, salmon sushi, and hamachi kama shioyaki. My delivery came carefully packed and well-packaged and presented. I must say I was impressed! The seafood don had a great variety of fresh fishes including tiger and sweet shrimp, scallop, ikura, madai, kinmedai, hamachi, maguro, toro, and best of all uni! The grilled hamachi kama shioyaki was nicely salted and succulent. I'll be sure to check out the place in-person soon to try out their other offerings and as I contemplate whether this establishment could replace my bi-weekly jaunt uptown to Taro's. read more
This is a legit authentic Japanese sashimi grade seafood & Japanese products market that makes amazingly fresh takeout sushi ! They even have different types of uni both for sale and in sushi/don/hand roll/nigiri form, plus grab and go fresh onigiri & meals. This is a gem in a sea of average sushi restaurants here in Toronto - coming from Vancouver knowing fresh seafood and having been to Japan x2, this shop is a step above and their seafood is higher quality/ fresher. REAL wasabi, properly made nigiri (fish is sliced thinner in Japan, not like Korean sushi which is more quantity over quality), and premium cuts of fish. You won't find Americanized sushi rolls full of fried batter and sauces here - this is the real deal, authentic Japanese sushi as it will be in Japan. read more

Great vibes, friendly service. The store selection is smaller than kingyo's but I found the seating area to be a bit more intimate and cozy. Fish was very fresh and presentation was beautiful. read more

I can't believe there's finally a Japanese fish market downtown! This is a dream come true. Tried their sashimi, and it was super fresh and good. You can also buy fish and have them make them into sashimi or sushi for you. They also have 2 small tables if you want to dine in. Definitely will be back again! read more
I feel like everywhere I live, I make a point to go out of my way and find a Japanese mart. I think I'm just obsessed with Japanese marts because of the convenience of ready made food that I can just grab and go. I've been to Japanese marts all over Toronto, and I've been to the big ones in NYC. None of the ready made food hits quite like Yuzuki's bento boxes and onigiri. I'm addicted to their bento boxes, I've tried a few different ones and they all hit the spot for me. I've also sat down for their sushi and sashimi which have been honestly the best sushi I've had- they import their fish from Japan, and it doesn't taste like sushi you'll find here- I suppose? I haven't been to Japan yet though so keep that in mind. It may seem like it's expensive, but I think it's worth it for the quality that you get. Lastly, I wanted to briefly touch on the actually mart side of things here- you can get sashimi grade fish, fruit from japan, and popular items that you'd commonly find in Japanese marts. I was having trouble locating some Umeboshi plums and they happened to have some here too- so I think if you're looking for a particular item- the safest bet would be to call ahead and inquire before coming in. They pick up every time! read more

If you're looking for quality and fresh seafood, I'd definitely recommend Yuzuki! The negitoro uni ikura don was really good. The portion size was also decent. Overall, Yuzuki will definitely be part of my regular sushi restaurant rotations. read more
