I've been a local neighbour who had been visiting this restaurant in and out...and it's one of the best..and I don't know how many times I have to stress this fact enough that, out of all the sushi restaurants around the area spreading Bathurst to Yonge and from Vaughan to Richmond Hill area, this is one of THE best sushi experience you'll probably have. It is as close as it gets to the actual authentic Japanese cuisine without actually going to Shibuya, Akihabara or Kyoto cities. I'm not talking about those piece of crap All-You-Can-Eat sushi places where quality per price ratio is horrible, but I'm talking about real food with real people. Made by true chef artists that respect how food should be treated as. The reason why I mentioned as AYCE quality lower than this restaurant is because I've been in one, and I've had countlessly devouring food without tasting the inner value of it, just to get myself full and get it over with. This restaurant is nowhere even near close to any of the places aforementioned bearing the AYCE badge, because it is a dining experience you'll never forget.
Anyways, let's talk about the interior and exterior of the restaurant first. At first impression, it may not seem appealing to ordinary customers like me, but once you step inside the floor..that's when the real impression starts. Beautifully decorated lighting on the left side as soon as you enter the restaurant, greets you. Also at the same time, you can see the entire restaurant platform which may not be so big at first, but it is good enough to accommodate a party of let's say...a good 20 people or even more.
Once you sit in and wait for the menus, there are quite a few that we don't understand because it's not your typical Spicy Salmon rolls or typical Tempura and Teriyaki combo that you see almost anywhere. I mean, it's a menu you've seen it everywhere even this place as well, but would you literally visit a high quality restaurant just to eat low-tier foods? I wouldn't think so. The foods I've had were Inez Roll and Orangeville Roll (Although I'm assuming that the names derive from either one of the employees there or somewhere else..that I wouldn't have a clue.) with some sashimi pieces which were bigger than a regular Japanese restaurant size of a serving. It's not something I can explain it in detail, it's something YOU as a customer to experience with your own money to spend. Personally, I find it that the 'sashimi artists' that work actually does care about the customers who eat the food they create.
Now a question inside your mind will pop up, "how's the service?"....well, if you're one of the customers whose been visiting AYCE for a long while, the level of customer service as waitresses and chefs there is quite higher than I've expected it to be. Courteous, and friendly. Respectful to customers even at late nights (me and my wife were dining at 9:30pm until 10:30pm - overtime of closure - but although it was past regular business hours, we never were pestered to leave like some restaurants leave a sour taste of). It was clever of them to put Gangnam Style by PSY to entertain us through the large TVs that they had. A cultural sensation of a song we have no idea of the meaning? Very.
I also read a couple reviews below, and the only assumption I can conclude from the lower-tier regulars is that...if the food that you'll be ordering are the typical AYCE menus that striked your taste buds with MSGs and such..why bother reviewing it in the first place? I'm not degrading that all AYCE places are using them but in comparison to an actual higher tier restaurant to the foods you'd experience from the T&T Spicy Salmon rolls, you'd be better off buying off a cheapass bento box that costs under $10 and chug it down your throat before degrading a restaurant that does deserve stars it should've been. There's also another Japanese restaurant across of Aroowha, and I'm guessing they've misunderstood that restaurant to here. Yes, it does deserve 5 stars. Spend your money, make a trip and don't waste your time filling your tummy with food you'll regret elsewhere. Aroowha, a name you'll never forget. If you want to know the definition of what Sashimi and Sushi is, I highly recommend coming down for a taste of Japan. read more
