I have been Krav Maga for almost three months and I really do enjoy every day I go…read more Taking Krav Maga helps with my confidence, self esteem, and health. And more importantly how to keep myself safe in dangerous alterations. As I get better with techniques I plan to get more into martial arts and self defense. All the instructors are all amazing and very good at teaching the right techniques I and others are learning.

I had a Groupon and tried them out for a month early in 2022. I joined them as a level 2 (orange…read morebelt) from another krav maga school that had to close down for a couple of months to relocate and I didn't want to lose momentum during the break. Pros: The instruction at KMSC was solid, the other students were nice, the facility was well maintained and had lots of toys (kickbags, padded walls, gear, etc.). Cons: 3 issues that helped me decide not to do a second month while I was waiting on my primary school to relocate. 1 - I got a bad vibe from one of the business owner's who tried to pressure me to sign up for the next month on my first night (before my first class) in order to lock in the best rate. 2 - They allow too many students to sign up for a given class. For the more popular class times, there were several nights that month where we couldn't do the full technique we were being instructed because there wasn't enough mat space which defeats the purpose. 3 - This school has a strict "no shoe" policy on the mats... which sounds good on paper, but it's KRAV MAGA... we are grabbing, grapling, sweating on each other, etc. I played along and went bare foot like the rest of the students and I got a mild rash on my foot. Nothing major and it cleared up quickly, but I would rather role around on sneaker mats than go barefoot on other people's sweat. At my other school, we kept our sneakers on. That may sound gross at first, but think on this: gas pumps and door knobs are dirtier than toilet seats... you really think the bottom of your shoes are cleaner than your partner's hands that they are using to grab your face? Fortunately, my first school has recently re-opened, so I'm happy to be going back there. KMSC is not terrible, but just not for me. So... do with that what you will.

As far as gear goes, I'm an astrophile, so I loved the galaxy look of everything right away and was ecstatic to find that not only did it look good, but performed even better. The gloves I purchased are some of the most comfortable and durable that I own, and I cannot WAIT to grab rash guards and spats! As for training, I came to Alex and Jess from a traditional Okinawan karate background and found that they were able to identify some of the habits of the style right away. This helped me to understand how to quickly translate the knowledge I already had to pick up more of the boxing, MMA, and Muay Thai techniques that they specialize in. I think what I appreciate most is how they approach training for newbies and kids. My teenager had almost no prior training background, is introverted, and is not very physical by nature, by the end of a pretty intense session she was asking about getting her own gear! Truly a place where you will be treated like family and pushed to be your best, no matter if you're looking for fitness, pro coaching, or self-defense.

The training itself pushed my limits, sharpened my awareness, and left me feeling stronger and more confident than ever. Bruce and the instructors didn't just demonstrate each technique--they took the time to break down every form, explain the purpose behind each movement, and show why each method truly matters. Overall, Annie and Bruce created an environment that felt both empowering and supportive, making the entire experience unforgettable. I'd give this a 10 star if I could! Highly recommend!

I take the adult classes and my kids are in the kids class. Moore's does a really good job keeping it fun while still holding everyone accountable. Since starting, I've seen a big increase in my kids confidence along with better discipline and focus at home and school. The adult classes are challenging but supportive, and you actually learn practical self-defense instead of just going through motions. I'd definitely recommend coming in and trying a class if you've been thinking about martial arts but weren't sure where to start!

Not only is Micheal a martial arts Shifu (master) he's also a warm and engaging person. Clearly an authority in Chinese martial arts, he's learned in Western medicine. Basic 'form' classes begin with gentle active relaxation and progress to Tai Chi body movements that progress into Tai Chi forms or sets. Michael's approach is practical, emphasizing how to perform daily physical tasks more efficiently while breathing so as to have more energy, less discomfort, greater strength, flexibility and balance. Fellow students are welcoming, and he's cultivated a loyal following. He's not pretentious, he's genuine and he consistently teaches within the Harvard Medical School's Guide to Tai Chi. And classes are affordable with online videos to support forms and movements expertly taught at the Tai Chi Association. The first class is free, so it's easy to validate if this health program 'fits' your needs. Visit their website, spend some time reviewing the videos and articles posted. Personally, I wake up excited to attend class, to see the instructors and my fellow students. Join us!
