It has rice inside and I usually dipped in the papaya salad sauce to bring extra taste. The tom yum noodles was a bit different to what I'm used to. It didn't really taste like Tom yum. Mm and the dessert - sticky rice with durian reminds me of my mum who makes it at home all the time. But of course if you don't like durian, I dare you to try it!

It is not that I don't like Thailand, or the food, but rather because they don't use chopsticks. I even asked my friend who had spent some time in Thailand whether they use chopsticks to which he replied that they just use the humble fork. When I eat Asian food I like eating it with chopsticks, but then that is just my preference. This was an odd restaurant though because despite it being a Thai restaurant, the wall had a number of paintings of scenes from Greece, and one from Australia. The only reference to Thailand that I could find (with the exception of the name and the food) was a photo of the Floating Market tucked away behind the counter. The food was okay (though I forgot to spice it up) but the one dish that really caught my attention was the one that my friend bought. I can't remember its name but it was a curry with bamboo shoots in it and it reeked. I thought it was just me until a number of other objections also began to float up from the table, so I decided to hold my nose until we ended up leaving.

But, there was nothing else and as far as I could tell and the sweet chilli sauce promised on the menu wasn't evident. Again, I've not had anything like the fresh spring roll which is, um, fresh not fried. Interesting flavour and texture here. We liked it the dish. On to the mains then. The Thai Thani green curry was good. The sauce is thinnish not thick and creamy as it can be sometimes. We liked it. The texture of the winter bamboo particularly sparked my interest in this dish which had good kick throughout. The Pad Thai here is a good one as well. A large serving with good flavour. We also liked that the noodles were thinner than usual. The Salmon Choo Chee curry is lovely too. We've not seen this in s Thai place before. The salmon was done beautifully and even had the promised crispy skin. The dish had good curry flavour that we enjoyed. The veggies were cooked perfectly too with some residual crispness still evident which we always love. To top things off, the rice was cooked superbly as well. Light and fluffy just as it should be. Service was adorable throughout. There were three young servers always at the ready at the counter to take our order, deliver dishes and drinks and clear everything away. Their efficiency and politeness was fantastic. The only slight downside to the evening was the bloke at the next table who kept looking over at ours. Like, constantly! They truly were delicious from the first bite to the last and there was so much food that we decided we had enough for leftovers two more times which was definitely fine by us. :) The Naan was a good size and the Raita was superb. We both agreed it was easy to see why they have won awards for their culinary skills. So on a…read morerecent cold and wet Melbourne night when I had a hankering for something hot, soupy and delicious I decided to give Fomo a crack at my all-time favourite Thai test: Tom Yum. Such a simple dish is sadly so easy to bugger up, and it seems that so many places don't bother to get their Thai soups right because they have all those strifrys and curries to wow people with. I'm pleased to say that Fomo did a mighty fine job. Their Tom Yum is loaded with seafood, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass and what I think was shredded coconut bits. It came served with it's own little candle heater underneath so it remained hot as I slurped my way through it, dipping my sticky rice in to the broth. At just under $17 it certainly wasn't the cheapest Tom Yum I've ever had, but it was satisfying and very tasty and coupled with some rice and a Thai iced milk tea, I got out of there for under $25. Next time I'm keen to return with a group of friends, as the menu here is just a little bit different with seven types of Som Tum (madness!) and all manner of grilled meats to choose from.
