Many of the great teachers, staff, and families who once made this place special are gone. Unfortunately, morale among both parents and teachers seems very low due to poor leadership. This year was the final straw -- my son, a 6th grader in middle school, was physically attacked, and the response from staff was minimal. There was no real accountability or support. We've made the difficult decision to withdraw and move to homeschooling. Parents, please be aware: if your child is being bullied, don't expect much help here. Sadly, it now feels like this school is becoming a safe haven for bullies instead of a safe place for students. Teacher pay is low, class sizes are overcrowded (some with more than 40 students!), and children with disabilities aren't getting the support they deserve. And now, with the departure of our amazing principal, Dr. Ann Matthews, things seem to be getting even worse. The only positive is that all three schools share one campus, which is convenient -- but that alone doesn't make up for the serious issues, especially when it comes to student safety and bullying. Mrs Ashley in first grade, and Mrs Kohl, in second grade, worked closely with our oldest daughter for the past two years. I can't say enough about these amazing teachers. They have fostered a love of learning in our child, and she is now reading and writing, and doing math far above grade level, compared to her friends that are in public schools. My family loves Victory Christian Academy and I can't see my kids attending any other school. The Principal, teachers and families are all top notch and together they have created a very special school. The office staff Ms Suzanne and Ms Debbie are so helpful with children and parents . They know so many kids by name . The principal walks around and takes time to say hello and smile and talk to you . Everyone who works there makes sure our kids are safe and do their best to communicate with parents through class dojo or email . I know that when I drive away that my daughter will be safe . The after school program is great positive vibes Mr Juan and his staff are nice people and they communicate well . This was in a very nice air conditioned, newly remodeled auditorium. He is my second grandchild to graduate from this school, we still have one more to go and a handful of nieces & nephews who also attend. So overall we have been coming here to school performances and Holiday shows since my eldest grandson started here in 2011. He is now in High School at Mater Dei. I was a bit reticent when they started going to this school because I would have preferred them to attend a Catholic private school. Because we are Catholic. But as usual time has proven me wrong. The wonderful academic excellence and innovation, that this school provides has showed me that, the right choice was made. I see how happy and well rounded my grandkids have become. They are into sports, music; one plays the cello incredibly well. It seems that this school places a high priority on individual achievements, probably due to the 13:1 student teacher ratio. All of this with the added benefit of providing a moral education along with the academic one. The school is very well maintained, and the staff is incredible. Grandparents are treated as special guests; we even have a special day when the kids perform just for us. So, in my humble opinion this is one of, if not the finest private pre-school to 8th grade school in Chula Vista. I am a fan and I guess always have been.
