After reading some of the other comments, I was surprised at what I got. My wife and I stopped there yesterday for a quick breakfast. We had a meeting with a guy and had an extra 25 mins to get there, so breakfast sounded good. There were less than 10 people in the restaurant when we entered, and we placed our order shortly after 9:00. and we waited They had 2 cooks, 2 people prepping, and a cashier. Evidently the 2 cooks did not know how to prepare more than one meal at a time as they sent out plates of food about every 5 mins. At 9:30 I changed our order to To-Go. They told me it was almost ready.... We were still 10 mins late to our meeting. The order was simple, 2 small breakfast burritos. Egg, Sausage, potato on a tortilla. Easy. After 30 mins we got our order. What I got was a surprise, a dry overcooked tortilla, dry potatoes with bland egg and sausage. And by dry I mean I choked trying to eat it. It truly was horrible. The only reason I gave 2 stars was the staff was super nice and helpful. The restaurant was clean and neat, The weird thing was the bathroom. Single bathroom that you had to find by going thru this weird storage/ stockroom area with no real indication of where it was. Overall the question is would I go there again? LOL NO, and I cannot recommend anyone else going there either read more

Food is authentic and homemade from family recipes. It is actually family owned and operated, they are now training the third generation to run the restaurant. The only drawback is they are only open Friday to Sunday and they only take cash or check. read more

This place has GIGANTIC burritos! The tortillas are soft and stretchy and their salsa is fresh and perfectly spiced, however you might want to ask for extra if you're ordering takeout, they are a bit skimpy with it. Everything seems fairly priced and I look forward to trying more items on the menu (if I'm ever able to stray from the burritos). The staff is very down to earth and super friendly. Let's say you find yourself south of Downtown Dallas- waaayyy south. I know, I know, the horror of it all. However, unbeknownst to many of my fellow uptowners, there is life outside of the city and even the suburbs. It's hard to believe, but it is true- I've seen it with my own eyes. There is a small town about 50(?) miles south of Ft. Worth (a mystical fantasy land in and of itself) called Meridian. There you will find a small restaurant called Zapatas. In Zapatas you will encounter the best Huevos Rancheros imaginable. It can't be denied. If you doubt me, try it for yourself. It's worth the drive. We were there on a sojourn from the fabled hill country and stopped in for a breakfast. Little did we know what we were encountering. Breakfast burritos the size of your head for $3.00. Migas the likes of which have never been seen in the Knox-Henderson corridor. And did I mention the Huevos Rancheros? I did, but it bears repeating. Add in some fresh made re-fried beans, excellent fresh salsa and chips, and you've really got a treat. Dammit Dallas- why can't you be more like Meridian? read more

Awesome. Love La familia. Great place for an authentic Mexican breakfast/lunch. I'm a huge fan of huevos rancheros myself but they do a quality job on there full menu. If you get a chance to try their Monday lunch special, Carne con chilie, it doesn't disappoint. read more

Can't say I've ever gone here for lunch but I drive 30 minutes in the morning at least once a month just for a breakfast burrito. Absolutely AMAZING, hands down best breakfast burrito. They have normal sized ones and burritos bigger then your head! Can be a little bit of a wait but very worth it! Highly recommend! read more

Anybody that rates this less than a 5 doesn't know good Mexican homecooking. More like what you would find in San Antonio, not really Tex-Mex, it's better! Why they aren't open evenings is a mystery to me but breakfast is superb followed by a good lunch. Plenty to eat and the prices are more than reasonable. read more

Amazingly big breakfast burrito wrapped in one of those wonderful chewy, stretchy flour tortillas. The egg, frijoles, and potato burrito was good, but no breakfast burrito yet compares with the gold standard set by Maggie's in my hometown. Still, good. And big. Decent salsa, Coming in to escape a cold, windy morning, coffee was uppermost in my mind. My server was friendly, but, well, it took several instances of exaggerated signaling to finally to score a coffee refill in dining room more than half empty. Another server, not mine, seemed not to actually wait on tables, but instead shuttled three or four times from the soft drink fountain back to a table where the staff chatted, with two or three forays to the restroom or backroom, ignoring customers. As she returned from a second trip the backroom, now in motion, hope sprung eternal for a refill as I tried, in vain, to catch her eye, but, no, was not to be. As I was about to leave, the dining room filled up, I asked for a piece of foil, and I heard my server rather rudely request one from the cook, repeating the request three times in rapid succession. Wonderful little spot for breakfast burritos. They actually have a pretty big menu, but all we had were burritos and migas; both were simple but yummy! Hand made flour tortillas. The large at $3.25 had a huge tortilla (15 inch?) generously stuffed with eggs and whatever grilled goodies one desired (chorizo, bacon, sausage, cheese, onions,pico de gallo even migas). The salsa was very mild albiet tasty. The small at 1/2 the prices was over stuffed and may have been the best deal! They also served menudo which many were ordering. Zaptas is great handmade Mexican food in the small town of Meridian. The homemade flour tortillas are fantastic. The breakfast cannot be beat and is our personal favorite in all of Bosque County. Gave 3 stars mainly because we ordered a side of guac., what we got was a pull back tab of Wholly Guacamole that you can get from the grocery store, expected a bit more than that. My son and I were camping at Meridian State Park. On the way home, we were starving and tired. I saw the building and read the sign. However, I passed it before I noticed that the parking lot was packed. There isn't a lot of room inside. But, the prices were reasonable and the food was great. This was a nice find! read more

Zapata's is a great place for breakfast or lunch. They serve generous portions for the prices, which are lower than most. They make everything fresh there including their homemade salsa that you can get by the pint! It's family owned, cooked, managed, and worked so they take pride in everything they do. Stop in and enjoy when you're in Meridian, but get there early because I think they close at 2:00 PM each day and may be closed on Mondays. I go there every time I'm in Meridian!!! read more
