Yelp Review 2023 #122:
I had a few zapiekanka spots in Krakow that I had bookmarked and I ended going to this spot in Judah Food Market that I didn't even know existed. It was just something I walked in front of from the pierogi restaurant I wanted to eat at but was closed. It was divine intervention. I was meant to be here.
Zapiekanka is a popular snack in Poland. It's like a Polish pizza. It's an open-faced sandwich. A sliced baguette with cheese, mushrooms, and other ingredients.
I got the #2 Krakowska. A zapiekanka with mushrooms, cheese, pickles, bacon, and white sauce. I like the texture and the flavors. The baguette is nice and crunchy. Cheese is melted onto the baguette. The tartness from the pickles cuts through the fatty bacon. It's about 21 PLN or about $5. They have 7 other zapiekanka combinations. You can get more sauces, more meat for an extra charge. They have canned Coca Cola products, canned lemonade, water, and non-alcoholic mojito.
Since this is located at the food market, it is in an outdoor space with some tables and chairs. Self-service: place your order, get seated, grab your food when they call you when it's ready (which takes about 10 minutes), enjoy your food, and clean up after yourself. read more
