My boss and I was in Canada on a work trip. We decided that we were going to go and visit by the water and we came across this restaurant which was nice because the other restaurant that was on the Strip had served fish and we wanted to have some mexican food. I ordered the nachos and my boss had ordered the tacos and everything was really flavorful the drinks was nicely balanced the meal was nicely balanced it had just the right spice I would definitely recommend locals to go and visit there and eat because the food was really good. Amazing service and great atmosphere. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy the food. I ordered the ceviche, the carmela and the mussels. Unkind I have a service dog and carry his accreditation. I have eaten here twice before on the patio w my dog. I was sternly and without care told tonight I could not come in with him, and when I tried to explain I had been there before and had his papers, the hostess was quick to cut me off, and aggressively and unkindly told me I could not come in. White Rock is one of my favourite places and among our favourite restos is Zapoteca. We love Mexican and they have excellent Mexican dishes in huge servings. I had their fish tacos, the family had asada tacos and quesadillas plus we had nachos to start. Everything was excellent and my son also loved their mock tails. Pretty tasty food. Was able to be seated inside (which was really a hybrid of inside and by the open large window/garage door outside) without a reservation. Drinks were good, had margaritas and mojitos. We also were in time for happy hour and had some nachos, chips and dips and we also ordered some shrimp el Diablo which was super tasty. Service was a little slow but seemed like because one gal was working the whole restaurant until more workers arrived later on. read more

An awesome little place on the beach! Service is absolutely perfect. Our waitress was friendly and on top of everything! They had proper covid protocols in place, we sat in to eat it was lovely. Food is great, not the bestest Mexican cuisine I've had, but certainly amazing for lil white rock! We ordered: margaritas (SO GOOD), strawberry limeade drink (non alcoholic, tarte taste ),the nacho platter (amazing, lots of toppings to go around. DELICIOUS!!! Highly recommend this Mexican for authenticity and flavour! My husband and myself shared the totopos followed by the Del Mar, both were huge portions and full of flavour! Service was relaxed, a little too relaxed maybe as they weren't overly observant and we sat for quite a while with no drinks (not even water), which wasn't great as the jalapeños were quite spicy. Not super authentic tasting. The horchata was a bit watered down. The ceviche was pretty good but there are definitely better tasting ones elsewhere. The tostaditas comes with a dark salsa drizzled on top which I've never had before but I personally didn't like the taste of it and in my opinion it didn't go too well with the dish. It was also super spicy, my friend who can usually handle really spicy foods also said it was a bit too much. Understanding that spice is expected with Mexican food but this was a bit more than the regular spicy so they should add that to the description in their menu as a heads up. The best dish of the night was their barbacoa - the flavours and tortillas on the side were good, hot, and fresh. Patio was nice and warm in the winter. read more

I think it's a requirement for all the servers to not smile or be friendly. Also my wife wanted a simple alteration done to her meal and was told no we can't do that. Ok can I do..............instead? No the kitchen won't do that. Believe me when I say it was simply leaving something off the dish as described on the menu. AMAZING Food and service at a great price. East beach has seen many restaurants come and go, but with the amount of buzz and support this small joint has found itself in the community - I hope these guys will be around forever. I took my wife there for Valentines last week, and even with a full place (mostly locals!) they greeted us with the same level of warmth and service that we expect from them. The atmosphere and service here are amazing. Some fi the other dishes I saw passing by looked good too. We ordered he ceviche to start and I'm glad we stopped there. It was not a ceviche. Ceviche is supposed to be raw fresh seafood that's cooked in acid. Instead it was old sad cooked seafood and no acid and insufficient salt. The unidentified fish tastes like nothing and looked grey and sad. The chips it came out with were also cold. If a place specializes in a small Mexican menu they should come out hot. The horchata was also too sweet and hadn't enough rice. Maybe the other food is good but they should take this off the menu. It was nasty. read more

I had been meaning to go here for awhile as I live 'real' Mexican food and it's so hard to come by in Canada (gvrd anyway). I just ordered takeout and MY GOD. Just amazing portion for dollar spent and the food is so close to authentic (not greasy street taco style but more cantina style). Spices are authentic and you can ask for extra spicy as well. This place is different. If you're from the lower mainland, and you love authentic Mexican food, you know that it's hard to find. The menu was a little bit confusing. Based on the menu descriptions and no pictures, it was hard to know what you're getting. The servers were Mexican with strong accents, and conversations about the menu were confusing. We both ordered the stuffed Poblano peppers and they were delicious. The lime margaritas were also delicious. It was a nice day and it had an open-to --the-outside atmosphere. The other servers also talk to us and were very friendly. My strong suggestion for this restaurant, is to show pictures of the food. Otherwise you really don't know what you're getting.
