Bravissimo is an absolute godsend of a shop for women who - like me - have breasts the size of…read moresmall African countries. Yes, the underwear there may be a little bit more expensive than the stuff you'd get somewhere like Debenhams or Marks and Spencers, but the quality of it is excellent - and I'd much rather pay a little bit extra to ensure that I'm wearing a bra that fits me properly. Most importantly of all though, the underwear it sells is attractive, an attribute which is sorely missing from a lot of larger sized lingerie currently being sold by a lot of other high street retailers. Bravissimo's staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive - and even better, they don't appear to suffer from that awful "cold hands" syndrome that many bra fitters appear to have. Often, they can tell what bra size you are just by looking at you, and aren't afraid to use their eyes and hands rather than a tape measure to ensure that you get the best, and most comfortable fit for your shape. The shop also stocks a wide range of attractive and flattering swimwear, and shirts and dresses which promise not to gape in the chest area - a problem that many larger breasted ladies face when they're buying clothing on the high street. All in all, this is a real gem of a lingerie store. I only wish there were more like it!

I trundled onto the Pastiche website so that I could refresh my memory about visiting this little…read moreboutique, and I instantly decided to bump it up a star for the following reason. The model has visible tattoos and a cute little black bob. Okay, so it's very subjective, and perhaps you might think unnecessarily so (my own tattoo usually remains hidden below clothing) but I do like it when clothing lines use more unusual looking models. I think the world needs it. Soapbox moment over, and onto Pastiche, a shop that's morphed ever so slightly over the years from something of a more sophisticated alternative shop to a clothing store offering some unusual and often rather hit and miss party dresses, depending on your taste. I bought a fun fur coat here many moons ago while I was still a Salford student, and I swear, the thing lasted me through my undergraduate years. I could wear a vest under it, walk around in the bleak midwinter and still be toasty. Nowadays the jackets vary from your cropped leather biker that's so popular at the moment, to some beautiful (but not for shrinking violets) military styles. I'll be honest, I really like some of the stuff here. I'm a sucker for their new big and comfy penguin and panda knitted jumpers in adorable pastel colours, and while a few of the dresses may seem somewhat 'tarty' there are many very cute puffball and lace options for those with secret aspirations to be an 80s prom queen (me, me, ME!). Plus, some slebs have been known to wear Pastiche's offerings. Don't be put off by what you see in the window, not everything is butt-skimming short and bright pink. Give it a fair trial, and definitely have a root around in the sale.

The name, the logo font, the clothes in the window - it all spells disaster really, unless they…read morewere being ironic. This store is lacking in any irony though. The clothes are well and truly on the fashion 'pulse' (read: frou-frou structured 80s party frocks in glitzy fabrics) but I have to say that every now and then if you take a closer look you'll find something unique and quirky that you know a Warehouse or Oasis shopper won't be duplicating. Much like ASOS, this store stocks a number of trendy designers that offer items 'in the style of' designer brands the stars wear. My favourites are Lipsy and Siren, but they're so popular that it's hard to find the sizes you want or they're sold out. This leaves you with a 'Pastiche' of poorer options that are over-designed to within an inch of their cheap threads.

A lovely addition to Manchester's fashion scene, which is often overlooked for focus on restaurants…read more/ bars, most predominantly shown by the changing face of King Street. & Other Stories is located in the old French Connection unit, taking two floors of light and airy space, showcasing their lovely clothing and accessories perfectly. They had a small opening event with local bloggers / 'VIPs' but also managed to continue the feeling of a launch through their first day, with some smartly dressed waiters handing out drinks in paper cups while people took their first look at the store. I was also greeted by the friendliest front of house / security I think I've ever met, which was a nice surprise! The items are categorised well and everything feels like it has a place, including shoes upstairs and a beauty / homeware section downstairs with some perfume and candles I can already tell will be a regular feature in any future present buying. Although they seem to specialise in light colours and fabrics, dig around a little and you'll find some beautiful metallics and items more suited to the Manchester weather! If Evelyn's is the most Instagrammable restaurant in the city, & Other Stories is the same for fashion. Excellent natural light and desirable products; hopefully they'll stick around for a while.

It is a big, open shop with lots of white space which has been utilised really well. It is a sibling of the H&M chain but has a more up market feel to it and it slightly more pricey. I wanted to buy everything but showed some restraint, I will definitely be back on pay day!
