Last Day - Sunday, December 15th, 2013 Tomorrow is the last…read moreday of the Christmas Market at the "Wasserschloss Kottingbrunn, Lower Austria" (moat castle) There is a crib exhibition at the great hall of the castle, lots of traditional handcraft, food, drink, alcoholic beverage stands in the castle, in the castle courtyard and the stables of the castle. The museum with real Messerschmidt aircrafts, trains, Roman artifacts and peaces of the Austrian Emprior time is also open!!!! For the children there is a lama and a turnery workshop. Every year it gets better and better - thanks to "Kunstszene Kottingbrunn and Mrs. Künzel" and the local people, it is the heart of the city and means lots to the citizens and that is what you see and feel!!! THE Christmas market with the special touch - exactly THE ONE for families!!! Unfortunately Sunday, December 15th, 2013 is the last day of this years Christmas Market, but it's still worth seeing it!!! Hats off for KOTTINGBRUNN!!!!

I wanted to see the Christmas dioramas displayed in one of their greenhouses which are always so amazing. This year they were all constructed to the theme of well-known Weihnachtslieder (Christmas Carols). They were really creative ... and colorful. The food and craft stands as well as the other decorations and lights at the Hirschstetten Gardens Christmas Market are all fine without being on the unique side. But I did love the piano at the entrance to the gardens. Totally cool. Tip - You can go in one entrance to the gardens (front or rear) and out the other - no need to retrace your steps. There is public transit at both entrances to whisk you back to the Underground lines. This is Vienna!

The Medieval Market at the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum (Museum of Austrian Military History) is a…read morefun change from all the other Christmas Markets in Vienna. Here there is a specific theme which is evidenced in all the shopkeepers dressed in medieval garb and the many medieval shows and concerts. There are some really great foods here (medieval & modern) and of course plenty of 'ye olde punsch & gluhwein.' Also the museum is free when the market takes place. Now all you have to do is watch out for the hungry dragon!
