This lawyer obviously isn't very skilled in winning his cases and doesn't take on much. I am searching for a medical lawyer and this man told me before even hearing the details or my income that I wouldn't be able to afford this. I was only supposed to be transferred to someone to schedule an appointment and I'm glad I didn't. If you can't win a case outside of personal injury, just say so. There is an incredible level of disrespect that goes one in this firm. The lack of caring/empathy is palpable from the first meeting. Mr. Curtis strikes me as a used car salesman who is only looking after his own butt, and Mr. Zbinden is far worse. I was involved in a major motor vehicle accident and the only thing they seemed interested in was how much money that could be made (by them), and couldn't care less about how I was going to pay my bills or how I was going to get by for the next six months while in recovery. It was a hurry up so we can settle your case kind of feeling. Suffice it to say I took my business to a different attorney who helped me through my ordeal with grace and respect, and I am so glad I did. The new attorney was exactly who I needed. I talked to Mr. Curtis this morning as I had some questions about a case were pursuing (I should've just hung up when I heard the first words of the receptionist; she really could benefit from taking a few courses on how the answer the phone in a professional manner). I explained the incidence, and what do I get, "Oh, you're one of these types that like to get compensation." I mean.... why wouldn't I, when my rights have been violated. But he basically accused me of being a gold digger. Here's the thing, Mr. Curtis doesn't seem to be aware of the recent developments in law, he seems to be stuck in the 20th century solidly. George Curtis whom I do not think did his job. Some quotes he made to were "do you expect me to look through your file" and "that's why they pay me the big bucks" though knowingly he pays others to do his job, and asking me multiple times for the same documents. The only person doing their job was a lady named Mo. Even when we went to mediation, Mo was looking over everything while my attorney sat back in his chair looking on his cell phone (which he did on many occasions). My attorney didn't speak up one time. Mo did all the speaking. My attorney wanted me to settle for 25k when we were originally asking for 2.66 million. In 1998 I split my knee cap in half by slipping on a wet floor in a non-profit drop in center for homeless youth. I was 19. After contacting several attorneys who refused to help me simply because the place was run by the Salvation Army, I found George Curtis. He came to the place I was staying to interview me. He always returned my calls and was never anything other than professional, polite and caring. After 2 surgery's and about a year of him constantly negotiating and arguing with the insurance companies on my behalf and refusing to take less than what was fair, and it was finally time to settle, I walked away with $47,000 dollars in my pocket. All doctor, legal and other fees were paid and he earned less than I did. He and his staff were amazing! Recently my son was injured on the property of the apartment complex we lived at due to managements negligence. First person I thought of was George Curtis! I called him up, he remembered me and my case from 16 years earlier! He was the same fabulous man and lawyer I had been so fortunate to receive help from before. Luckily my son was not seriously injured in his fall. However the property management refused to even speak with me on this matter. After retaining George's services, he made all the phone calls and stood up for me and my child when we needed it! After the doctor bills were paid, so was Mr. Curtis and my son has $5,500 collecting interest in a trust account for him when he turns 18, for an incident he barely remembers now! About a month after my sons case was settled Mr. Curtis called me to make sure that my son was ok, to ask how we were doing and to thank us for allowing him to represent us, and wish us a happy holiday's!
