Kema Vlees - So fortunate to have access to such good foods.

As another reviewer mentioned, this is truly a budget butcher - but low prices do NOT equal poor…read morequality! When you've exhausted all of the sad meat options available at the last minute at Albert Heijn, come here - they have lots of readily available cuts and ground meats that I have not seen anywhere else in town (except for flank steak - have searched for translations of this to no avail. If someone knows what I should be asking for, let me know!) for ridiculously low prices. It's a small shop that can get crowded at times, but that's probably because the locals are all in on the secret I wish someone told me when I first moved here. I will happily go out of my way to stop by this meat market from now, especially since it's located right around the corner from Ten Katemarkt. This part of town takes my weekly meal prep to the next level!

Good, affordable meats here at Kema Vlees. I walked by here a hundred times before I went inside…read more It's not very large, but they pack a lot of meat in to that space! I was more shocked at the low prices and huge portions. I am not a huge "meat eater" but love chicken (Kip) and some pork. The lekker smell of smoked meats overcome you when you walk in (a good thing). So many choices of smoked meats, sides and anything you want. You could make a full meal and call it your own from the chicken shawarma prepared meals they have here...all you have to do is cook and serve! It is right next to the Ten Kate Markt on the Kinkerstraat....so some competition, but the market (generally) does not have raw meat sold in this capacity. A bit crowded at times...lines form down the street during these Covid-times...but I can't imagine how busy this place would be if there were no restrictions on capacity. A good, friendly place...huge selection. Check it out!

My favorite butcher in Amsterdam!…read more Whenever I want to get something special, I go there. But I also go there if I want to get meat for a week dinner :D I love their range of products. They seem to have it all, and the things they do not, you might be very much able to order. You can have goose or duck rillette, homemade boudin noir, boudin blanc with truffles, English breakfast sausages, other types of sausages which names I do not remember, multiple pâtés, mousse du canard...And I haven't even started on the meat. I highly suggest you visit them. They even have pig legs, if you are fan of homemade aspic. The people who work there are super nice, some also have the famous French accent. They speak English and Dutch, so do not fear. You can pay cash or Dutch pin. Speaking of paying - the prices are very good. My only problem is that they are closed on Mondays and Sundays, and they are not open til late. Therefore, if you need something from there plan it well. Otherwise - #meatlessmonday is a trend now ;)
