    Fully Loaded Pasta

This place is truly a hidden gem in the heart of midtown. We came here on a Sunday to try their brunch and were pleasantly impressed. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, coupled with the charming decorations and friendly owners, made us feel right at home. The cozy vibes and having many patrons showed us why this spot is so beloved. We ordered "Cobb Salad", "Fully Loaded Pastrami" and "Zelden's Smokey Benedict ". Cobb salad was a healthy starter and it was fresh and perfectly cut. Fully loaded fresh and warm pastrami (made in-house), paired with their homemade spicy mustard was the highlight of our meal. Smoked meat was fresh and a great pairing with egg benny. We would definitely love to come back and enjoy more of their menu.

Large Pastrami Sandwich ($13.95) + a side of Onion Rings ($4.95).

There are few things I love more than an awesome Jewish Deli and Zelden's is in a nice spot in Midtown just south of Yonge & St. Clair. Overall, it's bouncing between a 2/5 and 3/5 for me... I ordered the Pastrami Deli Sandwich ($13.95) and it was definitely good. The meat wasn't too dry and the serving size was good. The price relative to what you get is about on-par for what a ham on rye would cost in the city nowadays, so it's fair in that regard. The coleslaw and pickle comes free with it. The side of Onion Rings ($4.95) was a pretty big ripoff though. I only got 5 Onion Rings, so it was basically $1 per. Some were tiny too. Did they taste good? Absolutely. Were they fresh? 100%. But the ratio of high price to super tiny serving size is way out of sync. The space inside is nice with plenty of seating on the sides and front. Everything was clean and it has a retro vibe which I liked a lot. Our waitress was friendly, but the service overall was really bad. The was only one other table of diners in the restaurant at the hour we tried it out, but it still took us over 30 minutes to receive our meal. My friend ordered a tea with his that just never came. She never returned for us to have a chance to ask for it, but when we got the bill, of course it was on there. He had to remind her that the tea never came. I get that things can get hectic and accidents happen, but there was basically nothing going on in the restaurant when we were there. Maybe you'd have a better experience! I'd definitely try Zelden's Deli again, but would get something different off of the menu. I'm sure the service issue we had was a one-off thing.

What a cute spot! The borscht soup was so comforting and tasty. I paired it with a pastrami sandwich and it was the softest bread I ever had! Plus it was completely decked out with layers of pastrami. It came with a tangy coleslaw which balanced everything out. And of course, you can't forget the potato latkes. I love that it was not greasy at all like some other places so you definitely don't feel guilty about having too many

I'd give 3.5 Not an option Only person in store, was really slow... long 80's ROCK conversation came first. Smoked meat Sandwich is GOOD. At $15, doesn't make return visits feasible.

I had lunch today at Zelden's Deli and Desserts. Apparently they opened about eight weeks ago. I ordered a corned beef sandwich, minus the coleslaw (it was $11.95) and it was a good sandwich. It was served on light rye bread. There were two bottles of mustard on the table (regular and dijon) so you can put as much or as little as you want. The bread was soft and fresh and the meat was warm and tasty. I felt like something sweet and saw lemon meringue tarts in the fridge and couldn't resist (it was $6.95). It was a good tart. The lemon wasn't too sweet. It arrived showier than I expected. The ice cream and strawberry were a nice surprise and the jam was a bit too sweet. Taylor was the server. She was nice and friendly. I'd stop in again if I'm in the area and wanting a deli sandwich ... there were lots to choose from.

Smoked meat sandwich with homemade spicy mustard.

Cute and cozy spot and the smoked meat sandwich did not disappoint! We were helped by the owner who was super friendly and helpful. She also sells little jars of her homemade spicy mustard if you want to buy some to take home. Be sure to ask for extra sauce on your sandwich!

I live in the neighborhood. The foods are very good. The price is not so cheap, but by considering the amount of foods, it is not bad. The place is spacious and the seats are comfortable. They have varieties of selections in their menu, but I do not think they have exciting desserts. The service is okay. We will never have bad experience.

Extremely slow service waited 45 minutes for one sandwich and a pie. The pie was probably shipped directly from Britain given its speed.

Since everyone is avoiding these places like the plague, service was quick and efficient and I was in and out faster than I hoped as there is so much to see with both the deli side and the butcher side. After reading the reviews I asked for a Montreal Smoked Meat sammie with Swiss and yellow mustard. To go with, I grabbed a peppers, olives and feta salad in a tub, and for dessert, a raisin butter tart. Even though the sammies are not over-priced, if you combine all that, it adds up to a few bucks. The sandwich was excellent! After reading the reviews, I expected a little more of the smoke meat piled high, but instead it had more of a reasonable amount. But omg, the bread stole the show! When I first perused the aisles, I noticed they carry Fred's bread, which I believe Healthy Butcher also sells. If you look at my photo, the bread slices look typical of any brand of mass-produced whole-wheat bread, nothing special. But the taste jumped out at me and over-powered the heavy sweetness of the meat and the tangy sourness of the mustard. Combined together it was heavenly. The salad was ok, can't go wrong with something basic like that and the butter tart was a perfect way to top off my lunch. Actually since I wasn't overly hungry that day I only ate half leaving the other half for later, which made me venture out for a slice, but hey, that's part of living downtown, it's just that convenient to stuff yourself.

My husband likes to mix it up, but I'm forever loyal to the house special: shaved prosciutto and spicy salami, buffalo mozzarella, hot peppers, fig jam, sliced tomatoes, finished with balsamic and olive oil. You walk in, choose your bread (ciabatta, naturalmente), and they hand it over tutto pronto. It's a big, bold, mamma mia of a sandwich--and I absolutely love that mix of flavours. Molto bello!

Food I ordered the steak dinner (8oz AAA Alberta NY striploin, shoestring onions, fresh vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes). To my surprise, the plating was well done and very impressive. The steak had more fat pieces than I would have liked and the garlic mashed potatoes was a bit dry. However, the steak was cooked perfectly and the shoestring onions were crispy and delicious.

Shopsy's Deli has been around since 1921 when Harry and Jenny Shopsowitz opened a small ice cream parlor below their tiny apartment on Spadina Avenue, in the heart of Toronto's garment district. Their sons Sam and Izzy built the business, and Sam eventually became known as Canada's 'Corned Beef King.' I first heard about Shopsy's when my first real girlfriend (Miriam) told me stories of family visits to Toronto and eating at their neighbourhood deli. Soon after, my friend Norm and I headed off to Toronto to see the sights and eat at Shopsy's for ourselves. And I have returned periodically to this location over the years. This is a great place to satisfy a craving for a delicious deli sandwich (hold the white bread and mayo), along with some crunchy coleslaw and a nice green pickle on the side. And you get a bit of the attitude thrown in for free. My only real criticism is that this Shopsy's is not really in the "neighbourhood" anymore. I love the Jewish-style delis not just for the food, but for the community energy.
