Woah woah woah This place is awesome. It has old school diner vibes. From the decor to the servers to the food. I can't believe I've never been here but I will certainly frequent this place as often as I can. I ordered 1. Matzo ball soup 2. Old fashioned smoked meat sandwich The soup was amazing, the matzo balls had a soft texture on the outside and a more firm texture in the middle satisfying all preferences. The old fashioned was great as well but I would have liked it to come a little hotter not cold as the waitress did not ask for my preference or choice. But Food came fast and service was just as speedy. The decor was old but it matched the desired effect of a deli. Woah woah again as I definitely recommend this place as there is reason why this establishment has lasted this long AND they have opened another location. ( I bet it's just as good ) Woah you must try either establishment.

Love the Montreal smoke meat sandwich. Must choose with fat. The bread is so fresh. I have the combo with coleslaw and opt out fries with cucumber salad. The vinegar pepper goes well with the sandwich. I ordered the potato latka and go with apple sauce and sour cream. Love it. Local local restaurant with lots of people visit. Ps , hardly they provide a choice of 10% , 15% etc for tips. Never see a choice of 10%!!!! Private parking outside the restaurant

If it ain't broke - don't fix it. The Montreal smoke meat sandwich is so tasty and their fries are amazing. The Jewish dishes were hit and miss, but the blintzes are amazing (but expensive). We had an amazing server who was very friendly, talkative and attentive.

Centre Street Deli has been around in Thornhill since 1988. I came here back then, when they first opened, and loved their smoked meat. They were in a smaller unit back then. Although it's been 37 years, I never forgot how good their food was so when I happened to be in the area, I had to drop in. My friend and I had their Old Fashioned Smoked Meat sandwich, with Fries, Coleslaw, and Pickle. It was really good, moist and tender, without being salty. The generous serving of fries was crispy. The coleslaw and pickle were just right. Good meal! We also had a Cheese Bagelach. We weren't sure exactly what we had ordered but were willing to try it. As the name suggests, it kinda looks like a bagel but isn't. It was soft, more on the sweet side, almost dessert-like, especially with the included creamy sauce. It was good. Please forgive my vague description. I'll definitely be back to try more from their menu. Hopefully, it won't be another 37 years.

Came here on a weekend before noon and we didn't have to wait for a table. By around 1pm there was quite a line up. We ordered the smoked meat (old fashioned) platter which came with coleslaw, a pickle, fries and rye bread ($27.50). We were asked whether we wanted lean or medium for the smoked meat and we went with medium. We also ordered a fresh orange juice for our kid ($3.25). They have ketchup and yellow mustard on the table, but you can request other mustards. They have a variety to choose from. We asked for the spicy brown and the hot mustard (comes in a little jar). I noticed a lot of other tables had the hot mustard so figured that was a popular choice. The smoked meat was very good. Melt in your mouth. I used the hot mustard in my sandwich but I think I might prefer the regular yellow mustard. The coleslaw was average, and the fries portion was much smaller than expected. The fresh orange juice was very good. The diner vibe of the restaurant was nice and service was ok. We would come back!

Best smoked meat experience in Toronto! We finally made it here and tried (take out): # Old fashioned smoke meat (came with sliced rye bread) # Kasha Knish # Beef Knish (deep-fried mashed potatoes with beef inside). # Vernikas (Pierogi like dumpling) We chose the smoked meat "lean" but it was very moist and juicy, with perfect thickness. No greasiness in aftertaste. Seasoning is also - not too salty, nothing is lacking. The rye bread tasted fresh as well. Also liked Vernikas. The dough was super soft and bouncy, it melts in the mouth with the creamy mashed potato inside & the caramelized onion topping! Simple looks, but well conceived food. So delicious. Beef Knish was super savory. Moistness (inside), crispiness (outer layer), starchiness/chewiness (from the inner starchy mashed potato layer), and chunkiness (from meat filling in the center) - all packed in this pocket. Enjoyable, delicious and filling! Pleasure to try Kasha Knish. Buckwheat filling was nutty and a bit chewy, the flavor is not as intense as other food items in the restaurant, but it has a natural texture and flavor. The more I chew, the more flavor it releases. Liked it. I cannot wait going back - next time I would also like to try is their brisket dinner and beef tongue!

Supreme sandwich. Smoked meat, Fries, Cole Slaw and Pickel, with a side order of Black Cherry Cola

One of if not the best Deli in the city (not Sumlicious as some people claim which doesn't even follow Deli rules). Originally started by the daughter of the owner of Snowdon Deli in Montreal, frankly my favourite deli, she knew a thing or two about how to run a deli and prepare great food. The smoked meat and/or corned beef here or amazing. Order a Supreme which comes with a loaded smoked meat or corned beef on rye bread and leaves the application of the mustard of your choice up to you (take note Sumlicious). Comes with a side of the most delicious perfectly done fries, real Cole Slaw (not the creamy kind), a pickle and a red pepper. Order a side of Black Cherry Cola from Boylan of New York as your beverage and you are good to go

Super busy diner on the weekend so make sure you go early to beat the crowd. Lots going on but they pretty much knew what they were doing. We got the brisket hot plate and centre street special. Portions were massive and we had to pack half of it. Pretty good for something in the suburbs!

Centre Street Deli has been a neighbourhood staple since 1988. They are known for being one of the top smoked meat sandwich shops in the GTA. Over the years, the ownership has been passed down to three employees (one of them being Jewish from what I've learned from our server) . They also moved to a more prominent location down the street with lots of tables so perfect for a family to dine-in. I don't usually crave a deli sandwich, but I'm a fan after tasting their Old-Fashioned pastrami sandwich! It's a must-try on their menu. I love the old-school theme of this diner. The service was also really attentive. The prices are very reasonable, given the generous portion sizes. You can choose leaner, medium or fattier cuts, and I highly suggest fattier for the full flavour. I also tried their hot brisket, which comes with gravy and toast, coleslaw and fries on the side. Delicious as well. I brought my Asian in-laws and usually they prefer dim sum or some type of Asian cuisine when we bring them out to eat and they even gave their stamp of approval! We came here around 11am on a weekend and by noon, this spot gets packed with people lining up for a spot for brunch. I recommend going early to avoid the wait. 5-stars because I definitely would return and try their beef knish, potato latkes and cheese blintzes next.

As New Yorkers visiting Toronto, my boyfriend and I were excited to try this deli for the Canadian smoked meat and chopped liver. We also ordered the beef knish which was delicious and quite large. All the food was delicious but what we loved the most was the "sweet hot mister mustard" that tasted like a a mix of honey, spicy and brown mustard that they get from Ohio. It paired perfectly with everything and you can buy it there! The service was also quick and very friendly. We were treated like regulars here even though it was our first time visiting. The ambiance is like a diner so pretty casual and we saw a lot of tables of families and large groups.

Most of my medium Montreal smoked meat sandwich that I could not eat. Chewy and fatty.

I've been craving some smoked meat sandwiches. And…read moreThis place has it. I ordered a Reuben for dine-in and a smoked meat poutine for takeout. Firstly the Reuben had a very nice flavour profile with the sauce and the sauerkraut But The smoked meat tasted bland and it was too soft. Which was confirmed in the smoked meat poutine I had for takeout. The smoked meat seemed borderline raw and too soft. There was no bark or crust on the edges. Too bad. Service was attentive though. The jarritos drink in a glass bottle was a nice touch But Not enough for a return visit from me though 3 stars is more than enough. Maybe lower 2 point something with a roundup.

But most people come for the deli sandwiches. There's a good selection of meats, sizes, types of bread and condiments. I got the Montreal smoked meat on an onion bun with french fries. It was big enough that I took half of it home. The taste was excellent. The french fries were just the right crunchiness. There are long wooden tables with stools that can accommodate large groups. There are also booths and regular tables. The décor is unique, with lots of old black and white framed photos on the walls and old-fashioned fuel pumps. The service was very good. The strip mall has plenty of parking available.
