I had a gynecologist tell me I had an atopic pregnancy. I went to Dr. Levine for a second opinion as my ex knew her from school and she saw me right away. She took a urine sample and could tell from the reading that I did not have an atopic pregnancy. She then had me go to the hospital for an ultrasound on the hospital equipment verses the ultrasound at the precious gynecologist's office because she said the equipment at the hospital would be better. That precious gynecologist was discussing abortion with me and I was so upset. Thank goodness met Zena Levine! It was not an atopic pregnancy and my little girl is now a beautiful young 17 year old going off to college this fall. I will always hold a special place in my heart for Dr. Levine. Dr. Zena Levine is a horrible, rude, arrogant & sadistic monster! Stay away from this place! And her & all of her staff that excludes the office staff are nasty, rude, unprofessional & sadistic too. I only went back to her because she offered a cash discount for me. I have no insurance. That was a big mistake! They all laughed at me & made jokes when I was in severe pain during exams. They said, don't be a baby, it doesn't hurt, no one else has an issue with this, then laugh! Wtf? I have a medical condition that makes inserting anything in my vagina excruciating painful! It felt like raped when I was being examined! I can't even use tampoons because of that! Also, she prescribed some horrible birth control pills to help with unpredictable & heavy periods that did the exact opposite! I had my period for 9 months straight every single day & I bled very heavily then! Wtf? She didn't know what happened! I went to another gynocologist & it took multiple visits plus a discussion of getting surgery if nothing else worked to stop the bleeding. I'm completely shocked at the bad reviews! Personally, I found Dr. Levine to be down-to-earth, knowledgeable, and kind. She's everything you want in a doctor! I plan on keeping her as my OB forever and I hope she never retires! Her staff is also great, as is her ultrasound tech Kevin. Everyone who works in her office is kind, attentive, and efficient. I first saw Dr. Levine in February 2020 when I unexpectedly found out I was pregnant at 39 years old. From the very first visit, I felt like I was in great hands with her. She has always made me feel very comfortable and she seems to stay up to date on the current academic research, which is important to me. Dr. Levine followed me through my pregnancy, making me feel supported and in great hands. Unfortunately at my 20 week anatomy scan I received devastating news that my baby had a congenital diaphragmatic hernia and some other birth defects indicating some kind of underlying genetic syndrome. At that point, my care was transferred to an MFM at Obstretrix in Campbell. Ultimately, after second and third opinions at UCSF and Stanford, the consensus from the experts was that if I carried my baby to term he would suffer tremendously and never make it out of the NICU. So we made the most heartbreaking decision parents can ever make and scheduled an early labor induction at 23 weeks so our son would never have to suffer. When I was in labor at Good Samaritan Hospital, I was pleasantly surprised when Dr. Levine stopped by my room to visit me! She didn't need to do that, but she is a kind and caring person, and it meant so much to me. I asked her how soon we could try again (I was quickly coming up on age 40) and she told me it's probably safest to wait at least 3 months. I was devastated to hear that, as the only thing getting me through the worst days of my life was the hope that I may get pregnant again and have a baby that I actually get to bring home. The next morning, after she delivered my silent, tiny baby, she told me she had spent some time the afternoon before reviewing the medical literature and her new recommendation was that we didn't need to wait! It brought me a tiny bit of light and hope during the darkest day of my life. Also, after she delivered Kieran, she told us we did the right thing, the merciful thing, and that brought us a lot of comfort. If I'm lucky enough to have a baby in the future I will 100% rely on Dr. Levine for my prenatal care. She is very straightforward, knowledgeable and nice. What a completely evil and horrible person Zena Levine is. I had breast issues for so many years following my surgery. She had the sheer audacity to accuse me of trying to get insurance to cover my "cosmetic" procedure. She refused to order an MRI, told me that I am lying about my symptoms and refused to help me at all. Fast forward almost 2 years and I finally found out that I have grade 4 capsular contracture and I had a Staphylococcal infection in my chest. I had the surgery and it WAS covered by insurance because my surgeon knew it was medically necessary to save my life. He told me if I had waited a few more months the staphylococcal infection could have spread to my body and blood and I could have been seriously sick with sepsis and even worse it could have been FATAL! Please consider choosing her as your doctor with great caution. I will never go to a doctor who doesn't believe me and my symptoms. She could have cost me my life!! read more

She is so rude and so impatient. Im so disappointed with her. I will never go back to her. I was struggling with menopause and wanted to talk to a doctor to understand what my options were. She believes the old school antiquated view that you take the least amount of hormones for the shortest amount of time. This is not what I learned as I studied the topic on Mayo Clinic site and Dr. Barbara Taylors site. As I shared my concerns she cut me off and said, "I listened to you, now its my turn to talk". Wow. She ordered a test I had not requested and when I received a bill from lab for it she had the nerve to suggest I was not being honest about not requesting it initially. Please please please take your business else where. This doctor or the office is not worth it. I normally don't leave reviews. But this one needs an exception. The office is super busy. You can tell they are just not on top of their game and almost everyone seems super frustrated. The front desk thinks being super rude is A-Ok. The doctor is rude, rushed and insensitive. Overall, you are made to feel like their time is too precious for you. Please find someone else and spare yourself from being treated like cattle. This is an awkward forum to discuss this type of appointment, but I will do my best here. I also wanted to disclose that I was extremely exhausted from an unexpected personal situation (had to suddenly move) and had flown in from an ill timed trip back East the day before my appointment. As other reviewers have noted, Dr. Levine got really grouchy with me as well. On top of the overall rudeness, she bluntly asked me a deeply personal question during my exam. The challenge for me was the question came from a place of irritation instead of compassion and I left the office in tears because I was caught off guard by her Dr. Levine's overall demeanor and my exhaustion didn't help the situation. So, if you are "all business" and can handle the grouchiness for this type of appt then Dr. Levine will work for you. But if you are in any sort of fragile state or need a Doctor that actually wants you to feel comfortable, please do yourself a favor and research the next doctor on your list, because my appointment was pretty horrific. read more

While Dr. Levine has enough credentials to provide good service to her patients, that doesn't seem to reflect in actuality in the service itself. I came to this doctor as a newly pregnant woman, and the office staff was friendly off the bat. The problem with Levine is she actually has very poor bedside manner, doesn't offer much information without the patients probing, is far too late in all of her appointments and far too rushed to really attend to any one patient. Her knowledge doesn't seem quite as vast as one would expect. My husband is a soon to be veterinarian and asked her about the specificity vs sensitivity of a certain blood test, and she just looked at him blankly. I gave this doctor several chances, in spite of her obvious lack of compassion or general sensitivity, but the last straw was when she lost a PAP SMEAR. As a person who has trouble with these tests to begin with, this was endlessly disturbing. She has good referrals to sonographers however. And there's a little dog in the office! That's kind of cute. But, sadly, it doesn't make up for her generally blunt and almost rude demeanor. read more

I recently delivered my baby girl and I was under Dr. Levine's care throughout my pregnancy. From the very first appointment during week 6 to the last day when I delivered, Dr Levine was exceptionally good. She attentively listens to all the questions and very patiently answers them. She does not leave any stones unturned when it comes to the health of mom and baby. I had chronic high blood pressure and she monitored mine and my baby's health very closely, especially during the last few months of my pregnancy to ensure we both were safe. I cannot even begin to explain how awesome she was on the day I delivered. She was with me even during mid night and successfully delivered my baby during wee hours and did everything in her power to make sure both my baby and I were safe and healthy. I cannot begin to thank her enough for her care, patience and her practice. I had a couple of appointments with NP Maria as well. She is excellent, very knowledgable and friendly. She has a very personal connection with all her patients. Big shout out to Leah for always being there to answer questions and offer words of encouragement and suggestions regarding nutrition. Leann is very friendly and accommodating when it comes to scheduling appointments. Leslie is great when it comes to handling billing and is very friendly. Yadhira is warm and super friendly. She is also very prompt in helping patients get their questions answered via phone. Kevin is excellent with ultrasound and creates a very relaxed atmosphere for the anxious parents -to-be with his calm and soothing words. Overall all of Dr. Levine's staff make her patients feel welcome and cared for. I had a very positive and memorable experience with Dr Levine and she made my pregnancy a very happy and cherishable experience for my husband and me. read more

I could not be more happy with Dr Levine! Look no further you have found your OB. Dr. Levine cared for me throughout the entire pregnancy and delivery of my son. I picked Dr. Levine on the recommendation of a friend and have since referred 3 more expecting mothers to her. For my job I work along side doctors and can say without reservation that she is one of the best doctors I have come across both personally and professionally. The office staff are friendly and attentive. There is plenty of parking and I have never had a wait in this office. Dr. Levine is the only doctor in her practice so you won't get passed off to someone else. Many of us moms are looking to avoid c-sections, Dr. Levine has an extremely high vaginal delivery rate. Moreover, Dr. Levine, has excellent bedside manner and goes the extra mile for her patients. Unless I moved out of the area, I would NEVER trust another doctor to deliver my next child. read more

The only reason I gave this place 2 stars was because when you call you actually reach a person and I had two pleasant experiences with the front desk staff and the assistant. That being said, I do not see an OB for her office staff and I need to be rating the doctor here and I have to say that I am once again dissappointed in the level of feminine health care in the Bay Area. Do we have a sub-par median level of care here? I was referred to Dr, Levine through my regular doctor when I was having incredibly heavy/scary bleeding and also pain during my period which could keep me bedridden, She asked me for a complete health history while I was pantless and keeping an eye on my 2 year old, not an easy task as most moms would agree. She got incredibly mad at me, even lectured me, when I missed one of the birth controls I had tried. Sorry, but I was trying to keep my son from eating the potpurri you had out in your exam room. She scheduled me for an ultrasound, which showed nothing and never called me back, as was planned. I had to call her back after 3 weeks when my period was causing problems again. Her suggestion? To give me a monthly shot for a condition she didn't know if I had or not. And of course she wanted me to come in again. I was pretty darn tired of payinf a co-pay at this point so I will be searching out another doctor, thank you very much. Her bedside manner was atrocious. I have no idea who these people having good luck with her are, but I am shocked. I cannot imagine this woman is ever compassionate or sensitive with her patients. read more

Someone please enlighten me. I've called 6 times today to get a busy signal twice, and then get through once. I was then placed on hold for several minutes and told the receptionist would call me back. It's nearly 2 hours later and no one has returned my call. I called again three times and the answering machine came on saying they could be busy or it's after hours. It's not after hours yet and since it went to the machine three times, maybe they just left early? Maybe they don't want new patients Update: FYI, it's 46 hours later and I JUST got a call back. Dr Levine sounds like the kind of doctor that is really sweet and cordial when you're a problem-free case, but not so well if you do have a problem. Hmm, I thought that was what a doctor was for ... I had a miscarriage and needed to come into her office to review the test results. She gave me the bad news. I started to say something, but she cut me off and told me about how fortunate I was that the miscarriage proceeded naturally and without any problems. Now, I can understand that it's a good thing that this wasn't an ectopic pregnancy or other more problematic issue. But seriously, that's not the time to be telling me something like that. Nor do I feel that it was appropriate to cut me off and justify doing so by giving me a bunch of medical info that I really didn't care to hear at the time. I felt like I had to fight for things I was looking for out of my annual physical. .. and I got a very resistant attitude, but eventually she agreed. .I also felt so uncomfortable with her being so cold and irritable the whole appointment. But I did think she was very knowledgeable about nutrition and I learned some new things. My experience with Dr. Levine and staff has been great. I've been going to her for the past 15 years and still going. She delivered both of my two children. Throughout the whole process she listened to my concerns or questions and answered them thoroughly. Depending what you're looking for, it's pretty much a business where I come in and out with what I'm there for the doctor to see. If you're looking for more of a personal touch where you can be friends with the office, I wouldn't say this is the place, ex: remembering what your child's name is or when they were born or when you last went on vacation etc, then no this not the place. Trusting Dr. Zena Levina with any and all questions pertaining to being a female and all the parts that go along with it. Being a "victim", although I prefer survivor, of sexual assault, I have preferred a female OBGYN since age 16. Zena and her staff are VERY personable and professional - they will make you feel comfortable, always. I love the way Zena gets right down to business with me. She isn't afraid to ask the questions that you dread to answer. The most beautiful part about that is that when she DOES ask you THOSE questions? It is so genuinely in her best interest to keep you well & balanced that you naturally turn into an open book. Ya, you should heed the warnings of the negative reviews for this practice. I found the office staff to be pleasant, but Zena Levine is straight out of an SNL skit. Dismissive, rude, condescending and the worst part, completely unhelpful. Ladies, it is your right to have an annual Pap. No doctor, or insurance company should make that decision for you, so if you go see this lady, be sure to demand one beforehand because she won't ask for your preference as she has already made that decision for you. It's crazy to me that she will now bill my insurance hundreds of dollars and the visit didn't even address my main concerns for making the appointment in the first place. read more

***READ THIS*** I have been going to Dr Levine for 8 years, she brought both my beautiful daughters into this world by C-section. She is extremely competent, she listens to everything you say, and is very informative. Year after year I go back and have NEVER had a problem. The staff..... is wonderful. Leslie, the one someone complained about is great. She wouldn't have been there for so long if she wasn't. Leah is terrific too! I feel like I walk into a family members house when I get there. But rest assured her treatment and care will always be top notch. Nurse Marie is a wonderful person, nice personality also... Leanne at the front desk is also very pleasant and friendly... Just watch out for the billing person, she is extremely rude and really has no place in working with customers...Dr.Levine would do right to replace her. Dr. Levine and her staff are absolutely wonderful. I was referred to them by a good friend of mine when I changed health coverage. When I became pregnant, Dr. Levine and Maria made me feel very welcomed in their establishment. They made my whole pregnancy a pleasant and easy experience which was so wonderful since this was my first pregnancy. I actually looked forward to going to my appointments (in addition to being able to hear good news about my baby) ;o) I am saddened by some of the negative views. Yes, there will always be people out there with not so great experiences, but from what I've experienced, coming from another OBGYN that I wasn't comfortable with, this office is very caring and professional. UPDATE: I met with Dr. Levine last week and she was way more supportive of my plan to have a natural birth. She still emphasized the health of the baby and me, but of course! She said as long as things go normally; I can have a birth ball, baby won't have constant monitoring, as long as APGAR score is good... baby will go right on my chest and they will let the placenta stop pulsing before it is clamped and cut (by my husband if desired). I feel tons more comforted and confident. :D read more

I am so happy I chose Dr. Levine! The staff is great too. My baby was born very early on a Sunday, and I thought she wouldn't make it, but when she arrived, I felt a huge relief. She got in charge right away and delivered my baby. She even had my hubby cut the umbilical cord, making him part of the birthing process. I make a lot of research of my own, but she could always respond to our questions, and was very supportive of my birth plan. I went to Dr. Levine for all my prenatal visits with my daughter. I actually switched from Dr. Khoo's office because although SHE was OK, her staff was rude and unhelpful. Dr. Levine and her staff is personable, knowledgeable and polite. They exceeded my expectations in every way. Everyone from her front office staff to her Nurse Practitioner were understanding and knowledgeable. They also really work with you to schedule appointments if you have small windows because of work. It also helps that the staff is so nice when you do the annual spread-your-leg exams and don't feel all weirded out. Her business card says "For Women, by Women", and they mean it. I wouldn't be able to have a male obgyn/gyno...if you are like me, then this is the place for you. I definitely recommend! read more

Let's face it, gynecologist appointments can make you feel vulnerable but from the moment you walk in this office the energy is welcoming. I'm so excited to be writing this review. If I could post this on a billboard I would. This was my first pregnancy and my partner and I were very nervous, scared, excited, as we are in our early 20's. From the second I called to schedule an appointment they made me feel like family. My prenatal care was OUTSTANDING. Dr. Levine knew how scared I was with needles and always condensed my blood work the best she could, and I was beyond grateful for that. Leanne (receptionist) always worked around my busy schedule when it was time to schedule my appointments and always called 24 hrs before to remind me, she goes above and beyond and is so organized. I never waited more than 5 min to see the doctor. EVER. The office is small, never super busy at one time, it's very clean and overall homey. Leah (health assistant) is one of the nicest people I've ever met, she's the BEST when it comes to nutrition. Dr. Levine always started and ended my appointments by allowing me to speak up and ask questions and she also engaged in conversations with my partner so he never felt left out. The ultra sound technician is also a super funny character and is always in a good mood and cracking jokes. Dr. Levine has made this drastic life change so calm and peaceful for me and my family. If I could give this office 100 stars I would. All the other reviews that are negative on here are so untrue. The entire staff is so professional, caring, and make you feel like family. Definitely going to miss these people! Because of my insurance, I've only had to pay a 25$ copay so far. So everything was covered through my insurance. I am inclined to write this review for the sake of any expecting mothers. This is a detailed account of my experience (simply fact-based). 1. Made appointment easily with receptionist. It was a very pleasant appointment-setting experience. 2. Arrived 10 minutes early to appointment time. Waited 35 minutes to be called. 3. Took a urine sample. 4. 10 minutes later, I was assigned a room. Sat in there with my husband. 5. The health assistant (who I found out was the assistant from the Nurse Practitioner that came in after her) confirms verbally I am pregnant (via urine sample), which I did already 4 times at home with different home pregnancy tests ($8). 6. The health assistant provides me a flyer with Juice Plus information and was raving about this product. 7. Nurse Practitioner comes into room and asks if I have any questions. 8. I ask a few questions, and the answers are the same as what we researched online. 9. Reception says if I want to book the next appointment with doctor and get an ultrasound, I will have to have 2 separate appointments and my insurance will be billed for 2 separate appointments. 10. Our bill comes for this initial "doctor's appointment" and it's $281. Value from the appointment - Zero Cost - $281 (includes portion to insurance + our cost) After the appointment, I was more insecure about this pregnancy than I was prior to visiting this office. read more

I had an excellent experience while being pregnant with my second child and a speedy recovery after a scheduled c-section.
