We have a huge backyard with enormous mature trees. One of the trees that Ian and his crew removed was a half-dead black poplar (probably the biggest tree in our neighbourhood). His confidence and expertise removing that monster with no bucket (climbing only, as there was no access) was amazing to watch - he definitely knows what he's doing. Another local company that came to quote didn't feel confident to be able to tackle it and recommended Ian's company - we couldn't have been more pleased with that referral. We also had a very large willow removed that had roots lifting and leaning toward the house. Both of these large trees had stumps ground down deep, they cut up and removed all the wood - it really was a big job that they made look easy. The Canopy Tree Care crew worked so hard - it was a major job done in one day!! Most of the big companies in Edmonton were way too high-priced or too busy to even look at our job - he was able to do the work about a week after quoting. In the past, we had a major company only prune a couple of our big trees and that alone cost $1000, which makes this company's prices look amazing (this job cost about 3000, which was amazing). He also took the opportunity to teach his crew, which goes to show the vision/character of this business owner. Honest too - there was a $100 error on the invoice which they notified us about (we didn't even realize) and reimbursed us for. Tell me if it is not a scam if a landscape company recommended a deck contractor to do its job due to its own contractor pulled out and promised you to do landscaping right after the deck is done while actually walked away the minutes the deck is done. Tell me if it is not a scam if a landscape company promised to do some jobs in order to let the deck contractor it recommended continue building the deck while walked away after the deck is done. Tell me if it is not a scam if a landscape company walked away saying its policy is not to walk with any house with a lien while the lien was put on by the deck contractor it recommended. Here's a breakdown of my experience: Customer Service: Dave was very helpful in answering my questions via DM. He was quick to respond and provided clear and helpful information. This part of the experience deserves the 3 stars. Ordering Process: Initially, I ordered a yard of rocks only. After some discussion, I decided to add dirt to my order. I messaged Dave to include the dirt in the delivery, and he responded with a thumbs up. I thought everything was set for a single delivery on Sunday between 10-2. Delivery Issues: On Sunday at 11 AM, I was asked if the delivery could be moved to the next day, to which I agreed. However, when the delivery arrived, the rocks were incorrect, and there was no dirt. I messaged Dave immediately, and he quickly arranged for the correct rocks to be delivered, which arrived around 1:15 in the afternoon. Unexpected Charges: When the delivery driver returned, I was shocked to find out I was expected to pay a second delivery fee of $90. The dirt cost $30, and the delivery fee was another $90, on top of the $90 delivery fee I had already paid for the rocks. At no point during our discussions did Dave indicate that there would be two separate deliveries and two fees. Communication Breakdown: When I asked Dave about this, he insisted that it was clear from our conversation. I asked him to show me where it was clear, and he replied by saying I was confused and that he had been clear. I expressed that this felt sneaky and like bad business practice. Following this exchange, I found myself blocked on messenger. Final Thoughts: Be aware and get all the costs upfront if you decide to use Big Binz Landscaping. This entire conversation about the additional fee happened after the dirt was already dumped in my yard, which was not cool. Dave, not cool.

They were able to come the next day and left a detailed 2 page quote in our mailbox. The only thing that was missing was the cost to take away the wood. After reviewing quotes, we went with them and we also had a coupon to save $100 for over $500 quote. I asked how much it would be to remove the wood over the phone and was given a cost. We had to wait over a month as there was a recent storm so they got busier. I was told I would get a call the morning the crew would come to let me know what time they would be by. That didn't happen but we received a ring on the doorbell that morning. The crew lead confirmed the work and I asked if they could take away half of the wood. We were expecting the crew to let us know when they were done as there a few things that looked like they didn't do anything. They left the remaining wood close to the fence with some large pieces. I waited a few days before calling to ask about payment and the work I thought wasn't done but on the quote. The crew came back the same day and they rang the bell and I talked to them about one of the trees and a bush. They completed the work and then took a break by the house. I received an invoice in the mail about a week later and could send payment to the address or e-transfer funds. I would have preferred to pay by credit card to get benefits but not a major issue. Not a bad experience and would consider them again for yard work.

The description of the quote was generic and I quote it fully here: "Full prune/thin/shape/deadwood/clearances asneededHeight remains the same, unless otherwisespecified.1xLarge Maple BY(large canopy)(small zone/drag zone) 30% max live growth/mayneed some rigging or " " removal to grade, leave firewood on site$2500 plus GST stump grinding extra. Unit 1. Unit Cost 1200. Total 1200". I asked if she could make the work description more specific to describe the removal of the branches we were concerned with. Her email reply said the follows: "The work includes what is discussed. That's our description. This is typically for our online quoting. You would confirm scope with crew on site the day of." So my husband and I decided to go ahead with this quote, and sent an email asking for a booking and how much/how to pay the deposit. This is the exact email. "Amanda: Thank you, Let's proceed then. How much of a deposit do I pay and how do I do it. And let us get a booking in August. Thanks" I did not get a reply. After waiting a while, I called their office and asked for a booking. Then I got an email from Amanda that kind of floored me: "At this stage, we realize that we may not be the best company to support your needs. We do however appreciate you considering us regarding your tree services needs. Respectfully yours" I haven't the slightest clue as to what made her do this. Our email exchange was very normal and friendly. Did she get a bigger job and discarded us like garbage? Does she have an issue with clients seeking clarity and asking questions? We'll never know. Beware. If you might enjoy being treated this way, call this company by all means. I posted this review on a variety of sites. I can't believe this company's treatment of us. We are decent people, we always pay our bills, and we treat others well. This truly felt like a slap in the face. Shame on them.

Requested them to fix it, but they said they would and never showed up. Made lots of promises, but never gave through with the finishing work. Price was also way too much for what was actually done. Took 3 months of continuous phone calls and messages to complete the sod work. Equipment was faulty, leaked oil all over my garage floor and left me, a 70 year old widow, to clean up their mess. When I complained, they had the nerve to say they never did the work and I must be mistaken as to the name of the company that did do this lousy job.

Finding a landscaper for our new build was a time-consuming process, but after glowing…read morerecommendations from friends and neighbors, we finally hired Jeff at Pure to do our yard. The lot on our house is a sloped pie lot, making landscaping a little more complex than a flat rectangular yard. Our process with Jeff started in the winter, with multiple revisions of a landscape plan to get to one we were finally happy with, and a 3D rendering with his computer software of our semi-final design. Jeff is friendly, easy to work with, and his years of experience are evident when talking with him. He is well aware of building codes and landscaping requirements, and was quick to bring in an additional design element for our front yard so we could receive a refund on our landscape deposit. Jeff was also very patient as my husband and I moved trees, retaining walls and shrub beds around on our virtual design plan. The crew he hired to work on our yard was polite, professional, and quick to clean up after themselves when the work was done. Our end result is a beautiful yard, complete with irrigation, planter boxes, and a retaining wall to reduce the slope. When friends and family visit we frequently are told how nice the landscaping turned out. Jeff readied our irrigation system for the winter, and has been over a couple of times this summer to check on our trees and shrubs, and to replace the ones that didn't survive the winter. I'm so happy to have a lovely yard to spend the summers in, and glad that we hired Pure to do our landscaping.

In order to find easy ways to finish their work for my neighbour, they invaded to my backyard; do every work on my yard; dump garbage on my yard; had a few bobcats driven on my backyard back and forth thousands of times and damaged my yard grading badly. 2. Jeff, the owner of the company, really "loves" his son! Safety turns to be not his #1concern. He took his son(most likely less than 10 years old)to my yard and neighbor's yard. Put his son on his leg and driving bobcat together. Allow his son run around the construction field and playing around with all the tools. These all happened on my yard. When I warned that this is not right. He seems doesn't care at all and claiming that he is teaching his son life skills and he got WCB all covered. My yard is not considered as his construction field, he is only allowed to work on my neighbor's yard. Kids do run around, how about if he accidentally hurt or even kill his son? 3. None of his employees and him wear face masks during this covid-19 period. They carried on most of the activities on my small yard, this makes me feel my safety is not considered and my family are exposed to risks. 4. Run away from the damages they made to our property. I battled very hard to protect our right and our property, but they still ran away from the damage they did to one downspout, even though I provided before and after photos. Jeff said that there is no camera around and I didn't catch his guy damaged it. Therefore, it is not them. He also said that there are a few other construction guys came around to check their work, might be them who damaged it. What a good excuse, not working under camera benefits them this way!! The fact is that they are the only construction guys around my house. If they say that damage is done by other construction guy, did he catch him on his camera? Luckily I spent one hour a couple of days ago to finally have Jeff put his promise to repair my grading in his email, otherwise I trust he might ran away from repairing the grading too. In conclusion, if you want to hire a contractor, consider the safety issue, consider the potential damage he brought to your property if his son appears in your yard. May also consider that he might hurt your relationship with your neighbour. If your neighbour hired them, watch closely to avoid damages to your property. Remember to put everything on paper, if you only let him talk and promise this and that, you can be easily persuaded and he then has tons opportunity to walk away if any unlucky things happen.
