I called ark during business hours and they told me before I could even get out all the symptoms he was having that they could not see him nor take him as an emergency and to go to the emergency vet hospital 45 min away because they were to busy to help a dog they have been treating for almost 12 years. Well we had to put him down that day. The hospital contacted ARK twice and I never even got a phone call or a sympathy card, nothing after all these years! When my husband called them they blew him off saying oh well they were too busy! I will never use them or recommend them to anyone and I will continue to tell everyone how they treated me and my Shih tzu!

However, given their criticality to be Reachable by phone ~ especially in the case of an URGENT Request or Question, their Phone System and procedures is Horrible!! They Need to provide a STAFF that can answer phones all day & they need some sort of emergency staffing to answer phones in late afternoons when clients are scheduled to be picking up their pets (after a surgery or procedure) as we experienced recently. We were TOLD to call the office after 3 pm to check to confirm our dog was recovered from anesthesia & "Ready" for pickup by 5 pm !! * we called & try EVERY OPTION on their recorded message ~ Including dialing for "EMERGENCY" Call option ..... and NO ONE ANSWERED the call ?!! We sat ON HOLD for several HOURS total that day (after her surgery) and left detailed voice messages & NO ONE EVER CALLED US BACK!! * A Veterinarian SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR EMERGENCY CALLS!! They should not expect the Doctors (in the back rooms) to answer phones when the office staff leaves. They clearly do NOT have the proper staffing employed to accommodate the Needs of their clients!! Again, doctors & care is really good ~ Phone system and contact for communications are Poor at best !!

We used to see Dr. Kane and were very disappointed when she left. However, Dr. Torrance has been wonderful. She really takes the time to listen. She is very calm and compassionate. My dogs have always felt safe around her. My current dog is highly anxious and has fear aggression. Dr. Torrance has been so patient with her, and with me. Front desk: Crystal, Kelsey, and Michelle are always so helpful and nice. I never feel rushed off the phone when I call there. Price: listen, let's be honest, all vet care is expensive. That's why they created pet insurance. I don't have pet insurance because I have been fortunate enough to be able to save $ and put it away for things such as vet care and emergencies. I would never want to be in a position where I had to say, "I can't afford to save my dog." I love VCA Gwynedd. They have been very good to me, and my dogs.

I brought my 17-18 jack russell mix there for a check-up and teeth cleaning after a bad experience…read morewith my other dog at another vet. We thought it would a good idea to have our dog's teeth cleaned to have him in less pain for the most likely short amount of time he had left. He consequently had some extractions as well. I was assured she had done teeth cleanings on older dogs with little issues. He recovered ok, but in retrospect it wasn't a good idea. At his aftercare visit 2 weeks later he had already had diarhea as well as my dog which she also treated. She kept him overnight and provided him fluids. She said she had no idea what was wrong with him and wanted to keep him another night. I said absolutely not and took home home. I was provided Flagyl and appetite stimulant. When I picked him up he smelled like profuse urine and his backside and feet were black. I was told to call the next day to report how he was doing. When home, he got extremely worse, not eating and not drinking. I called the next day with questions and recieved no good response. We decided the next day to end his suffering and used Lap of Love to help.him pass at home with us. I then called the tech at Animal Crackers to tell her he had passed which was left with dead silence. No call back saying I'm sorry for your loss or anything from the vet as well. Lap of Love couriers the ashes to the vet and I picked them up after a phone call from Animal Crackers today. I walked in to pick his ashes and was met yet again with dead silence. Not a I'm sorry or anything. Am I wrong to expect a little damn empathy after we just lost what we consider a member of our family? I understand he was 18, but we loved him and wanted the best for him. This experience has left such a bad taste in my mouth. I especially don't trust the good reviews this vet has.
