Large place that is welcome to tourists. Carne pizza was amazing. Had a tinge of spice and all the other flavors meddled together to make it a solid pizza that was able to be split between two people. For beer, we got the house Mango and Pilsner. Both stellar and I would get another round if we had time. Happy hour is £2.50 pints - can't get better than that. Parking around the building was atrocious, to say the least. Take public transit if you can. T took us 30 minutes to get out of the tinyiest parking garage known to man. Other than that, I hope we stop by again if we're ever in Cardiff. read more

We happened upon this place by chance as we drove by it early in the morning. I noticed all the brewing kit at first and just thought it was a micro distillery but turns out it was also a bar and restaurant so we decided to head back down once it was open at 12 for lunch. The staff here are incredibly friendly and helpful. Although not on the menu, we asked if we could sample all the beers they make which was no issue at all and all surprisingly cheap. They had a variety of beers from light mango beer, through to chocolate beer and even a 'black' beer. The smell from each beer was incredible and the bartender told us the reasoning behind each recipe and the flavours we should be able to taste with each glass. To line our stomachs as we drank we ordered a couple of things off the menu. We had the sharing starter which was smoked salmon , tomatoes, Parma ham and goats cheese on ciabatta followed by the thermidore mussels. Both of which were very good, the sauce on the mussels was Devine, incredibly rich and creamy ! They do have quite a limited menu here (mainly mussels, pizza and salad) but what they do have looks and tastes brilliant. They have a great open kitchen with an impressive pizza oven and each pizza looked incredible. I'd definitely come back here when we have a little more time and spend a bit longer trying to beers and taking in the atmosphere. Zero Degrees is a micro brewery don't you know. Fresh beer and fresh ingredients for food is there game, and it's exactly what you get. Besides having what looks like the cast offs from Ricky Gervais The Office littering the place, it is very stylish. The whole process is built in front of your very eyes as the fermentation tanks over look the entire pub(Brewery). It creates for some interesting noises and smells, unfortunately, beer wasn't on Air Wicks agenda when they wanted to make the land smell better... This would be a place for a beer tasting adventurer I would like to say. I didn't have a clue what any of the beers tasted like before hand and just went down the list. Some were awful and some were ok, nothing really stood out for me. The fruit beers are however interesting but a little more expensive then the rest. Onto the ze prices. Looking at the shirt and tie bridgae in here and the level of the classy modern stoned decor, I thought it would be over priced...As Cilla Black once said, 'surprise surprise' it actually wasn't. Bar the fruit beers, everyone was under £3. That's great for an upmarket bar in Cardiff...Not bad for a pub either to be honest. As mentioned, food is available too and they claim to use fresh ingredients. I haven't actually eaten there so cannot comment personally. The menu is Italian essentially and some of it did look really well presented as other customers ordered around us. Situated opposite the Millennium Stadium, I can see this place complimenting an evening before a concert or the such as a good night out and should be tried at least once. I came right when the kitchen closed so unfortunately I didn't get to try any of the food (the pizza looked good). I did get to appreciate the layout of the joint and all the pipes/metal reactor-type containers that I'm assuming contained/processed their brew. I went with a pint of the Black Lager. It was pretty tasty--nothing exceptional memorable or very different, but worth a pint (not just a half). Since I'm a tourist, I happily used The Cloud wifi that was available and sat for about 30 minutes chatting and sipping. Too bad I was only in the city of Cardiff for about 5 hours so I couldn't check out the food here the next day. It was about 10:30PM so we went down the street to The Prince of Wales for a late-night British meal. I like how this joint (and pretty much every other POI) is right next the train/bus station--convenient for us backpackers. I recommend stopping here for dinner and a drink. read more

Okay, I know this is a microbrewery, but it really feels as though they could have fitted a full size brewery in there. The warehouse feel in this place if cavernous and kind of trendy. I've only ever been in here during the day so am not really bothered if the space feels too empty, although I can imagine how it might be a problem come night time. Come on guys, the only way to fill it up to head on down there! The fruit beers are exciting, but always a little bit disappointing; I think I need to learn that the raspberry and almond beer is unlikely to actually taste of raspberries and almonds. Because it's beer. Boo. Again, I've only ever been here during the day, but they do seem to have a great number of staff when compared to the amount of customers. Ordered the pulled pork pizza and cannot understand why this dish had to be so spicy!!!! I do eat spicy food sometimes, but this is that uncomfortable can't taste anything but burn spicy. People were crying and needing milk. I decided not to eat much of mine, preferring not to ruin my evening. Just can't understand why this pizza had to be so spicy?. The BBQ chicken pizza wasn't. The microbrewery offers a very good range of beers, one each of the major types- a fruit beer, a white beer, a black, and so on. They're not the greatest beers of all time but they're a lot better than most other city centre pubs by a long way. The food is excellent. The pizza menu has a massive range of choice, including a few surprises, and is well worth trying. Portions are generous and service is pretty quick. When it's quiet this Zero Degrees can feel a bit more like a canteen than a bar but as soon as it livens up a bit it's one of the best places in central Cardiff. read more

If you think a fresh beer is one in which the ring pull has only just been opened then march yourself down to Zero Degrees forthwith you wretched being and get yourself an education. An hour in here and it'll be difficult be difficult to return to the Euro-fizz queefed out by the majority of pubs in Cardiff. If you don't believe me then visit between 4pm - 7pm on a weekday. In stark contrast to the minimalist slash industrial chic of the interior design, you'll espy small huddles of bearded men with formidable bellies quaffing out of four-pint pitchers, taking advantage of the happy hour. These are CAMRA men who have sneaked in. They shouldn't strictly be here as the brewing method that Zero Degrees use breaks one of their rules (something to do with the plastic bags inside the casks that protect the beer from contact with the air). But when the beer is this tasty, who can resist? You'll always find the Pilsner, Wheat, Black and Mango beers on with one special brew which changes every couple of weeks. The food here is excellent and reasonably priced and could probably stand on its own without the novelty of the microbrewery and the crackingness of beer. It's mainly Italian cuisine with the pizzas cooked fresh in a traditional stone-fire oven in the open kitchen area. They have Sky Sports but the speakers are permanently tuned to Spotify and thankfully they've finally seen the light and got the premium option. The seating is notoriously uncomfortable and the layout can seem cold but the good service and £2 a pint happy hour means it's always worth a visit. read more

While searching for brewpubs on our trip to Wales, there weren't too many options. This one looked like the best of the options for our day-trip to Cardiff. It's in the shadow of the Millenium stadium. It was pretty quiet on the day we visited. My cousin (who is a local) wasn't even aware the place even existed. The pizza was really tasty... who knew the Welsh could cook tasty Italian food? The beer was representative. Wales isn't exactly know for craft brews, so I'll take what I can get. Fruit beer? Is that what ladies drink? Regardless I feel like it contributes to my five a day and I won't listen to anything that suggests contrary. Zero Degrees has it on tap and they even brew it on site though I suppose that's what the point of a microbrewery is. I was apprehensive at first because if you've ever been in Cardiff central on an early morning (I'm always returning home never going to work because I'm a party animal baby) then you'll know about that horrid smell of hops wafting from the brewery. Terrified that zero degrees might have the same whiff I tread carefully but I can report that it wasn't too bad, though the air does still have that familiar scent. The prices are awesome though and at £3 and under for a pint you'll be drunk enough to ignore it in no time at all. The setting is also terribly chic and industrial, a bit like going to a boozy version of the crystal maze only without the mad 90s hairstyles. read more

Upon entering I was immediately struck by the interior, in many ways it reminded me of a warehouse (a trendy idea that seems more akin to restaurants in locations like London or New York). However once I'd finished admiring my surroundings I realised that me and my friend were the only people here (and you don't want to be alone in a warehouse). Whilst another group of people did eventually arrive, I found the general emptiness rather off putting. On a more pleasant note the food here is rather good, and if you're a fan of moules you will absolutely love this place as they specialise in this dish. I clearly ate at Zero Degrees at the wrong time of day as everybody I know absolutely loves this place, so I think I'm clearly going to have to revisit this place in the evening. read more

Zero Degrees is an expansive, warehouse-like microbrewery offering a range of, you guessed it, tasty beers. I'd never been to a microbrewery, so it was fascinating to see the intricate kit in all its glory. I'm a boring ol' lager girl myself, but I figured it'd be a shame not to sample their ranges - a few notable ones being the peach and the wheat variety - and they're not bad, not bad at all. I'll stick to my standard brew, but it's always refreshing to see what's out there. And I'm always pleasantly surprised with the quality of their food - I guess I expected Wetherspoon-like fare, but in fact, I think their pizzas and bruschetta rival some of the better Italian restaurants in the city. It's more of a drinks-after-work type haunt (with £2 a pint happy hour specials, you can't really say no) than an all-nighter establishment. read more

The venue combines a bar and a restaurant serving mainly tasty Italian cuisine, with a proper big open pizza oven that makes the place suitably popular with both beer drinkers and pizza lovers alike. The on tap fruit beer is very palatable,and obviously brewed on site, and I like the fact the outside terrace area has been split into smoking and non-smoking. Sorry to be a bit sexist here, but it is more ideal for the male species as there are such an array of ales and ciders, that typically the men I go here with get excited about. This place is ideally situated near the Millennium stadium, so be prepared to find it busy on match days. The atmosphere of the place is very modern and spacious, with the kit of the brewery on show, this adds something different to the drinking environment. They also serve food here, I've had the pizza here and it was lovely and not too much on the expensive side. The drinks can get a little costly, but it's worth drinking there so that you have a large choice. All in all, a nice drinking establishment offering you something a little out of the norm. read more

I was really looking forward to this place opening in Cardiff as I love the idea of brewpubs, and heard good reviews about the food, but I wasn't too impressed the first time I went and was quite disappointing the second (and probably last) time I went, particularly with the customer service. I must say though, the beers are excellent. The food is average at best. 2/3 of the seating is set aside for those who are eating. My second visit was for my birthday meal - although I knew food wouldn't be great, I thought it would be an ideal place to take work colleagues for a quick bite to eat straight from work on a busy rugby international evening. Also between 5 and 7pm on weeknights, all beers are £2. When I enquired mid-week if I could book a table I was told that they don't take bookings - but when we all tuned up on the night, the first thing I was asked was asked by the manager was 'Have you booked a table?'. Arrgh! After getting table and being told we had to be quick, we ordered pizzas and plenty of drinks (as it said on the menu that drinks were only £2 until 7pm. When we got the bill (at around 6:45), the drinks were all charged at full price. I queried this and was told the offer didn't apply when there are matches on at the Millenium Stadium. I argued that it didn't mention that anywhere on the menu which was advertising the offer nor were we informed by the waiting staff as we ordered our drinks. The guy went off to speak to the manager and came back saying we had to pay it, and I said we didn't. Finally they changed the bill. Rather poor customer service in my opinion. Also, while the waiting staff were all cheerful, and polite - non seemed to know anything about the beers which is a shame, or what the current special beer was. read more

I was told that this place was cold, but it isn't; it's warm and noisy and all hustly bustly and fab. Alright, so there's a bit too much chrome in the room, but the food and beer sooooo make up for it. Went the first week of December on a Tuesday night and the place was buzzing. Can wholeheartedly reccommend the pots of mussels in cream and white wine sauce (seriously delicious) and the duck in hoysin sauce pizza was a revelation (and the pizza oven is magnificent; wish i had one at home). The beer is wonderfully original and brewed on the premesis (oh yeah, it's a microbrewery by the way). I tried some fruity stuff that was lush and a more traditional wheat beer that was even better! And best of all, you can buy kegs of the stuff to take home (check the giant fridges by the front door). Writing about it makes me want to go back and try some more of their delectations. This is a Beer venue! It is quite a coold project acutally, they have a bar/restaurant all in a micro-brewery. This means that while you are eating the pizzas they offer there you are next to the kegs full of beer. At first it might not sound appealing, and by far this isn't a romantic place, but if you are into beer/lager and a good pizza, this is your place. The pizzas could be a bit better most due to their famous tomato sauce, which truth be told isn't that good other than that they do have a very big variety of pizza, it might be the case that mine wasn't the best of 'em. The beer there is really nice! You have a choice of Wheat Ale (my favourite), Black lager, Lager, Ale and seasonal Fruit Beers! I tried a Mango Beer and a Black LAger, both of them were really good. It gets even better if you like sports, since it has a HUGE screen there! This is a place that I would happily return! It even does 5L kegs for you to take home! Recommended! read more

I went here with my wife on a cold winters day whislt visiting Cardiff mainly because they have an extensive mussle menu, where you get a kilo pot with fries in various sauces. I opted for the Thermidore and my wife opted for the Thai Green Curry and we were both amazed with the quality. Each sauce was different and fragrant. We both received a portion of fries and wow were they good to dip into the sauces. The mussels are rather expensive, over £15 per portion but you get so much for your money that it is worth spending the extra few pounds to get a really nice meal. The restaurant also offers a wide range of pizza and pasta dishes and although we didn't order these, we could see them being cooked from our table and also saw other tables tucking in. They looked really fresh and smelt amazing. The staff were friendly and our food was served in good time, I also noticed that the table adjacent to ours was also served in similar times and the table had a large group celebrating somebodies birthday. The restaurant is also part of a micro-brewery and wow the beers were top notch especially the mango beer! Will almost certainly be returning when we re-visit the city or in a different city. Been once in 2014 and now again twice in 2015. Had fantastic Zerodegrees beer both times. Had apps the first time, and full dinner the second. Phenomenal food both times. You have to try this place. Has a modern brewpub atmosphere, a TV showing matches on game days, and great location within sight of millenium stadium. If you stop by make sure you chat with the bartenders at the main bar downstairs, they are always friendly and very knowledgeable about the brewing! This year we picked up some of their mini kegs, and they were great! This is one of my favorite places! read more

Zero degrees is what I think most Americans would describe as a brewpub. Zero degrees manages to add a bit of style with the theme running throughout of big and industrial. Add to this an amazing pizza menu including Pizza with Pears which comes highly recommended. Went for the beer and discovered some great food! Unless you sit upstairs you have to order by the bar. Black Lager was my favorite beer on tap, but the Wheat was also good. Had the Antipasto for an appetizer and I can't express in words how good it was. Probably the best Mozzarella I ever had. The pizza was good, but not the greatest. If I can't pick up a slice w/o it drooping then the base is to thin and most likely tasteless - which it was. All in all a great place with great beer and decent good. Being a cider rather than a beer man I'd never ventured inside Zero Degrees before but I'm glad I made the effort to because this place is more than just about the beer, which although I don't drink them I'm assured are lovely. The decor is somewhere between funky and industrial and the layout is fairly interesting. There are two upstairs areas on different levels, a nice large main seating area downstairs that encircles the bar and some of the brewery kit, and (I think) two roof terrace bits that I didn't see myself but I'm told are nice places to be in the summer. The atmosphere's nice too, staff are friendly and helpful without being pushy. I was at Zero Degrees for food rather than beer and I'm happy to report that despite the focus on the bevvies the food doesn't suffer. Our dishes were well presented and arrived very promptly, and I have to say I was very impressed with the quality of it (I had the seafood linguini and highly recommend it). As other reviewers have said, the food in here could rival the standard Cardiff's many italian restaurants, and though the menu's not huge it's certainly got enough to tempt me back again. Drinks wise, as I say I'm not a beer man so I was focussing on Zero Degrees' other offerings, and again I'm happy to report that these are not neglected. The Rosé wine we had with out food was very nice and the staff bar afterwards offered just brilliant customer service. It was fairly quiet at the bar at that point so they really took the time to chat to us, recommend some drinks and even let us smell some of their different gins and whiskies so we'd know we liked them. I went for a boring JD and coke but next time I'll try the Woodland Reserve I was recommended, and my friend, originally looking for a gin and tonic, had a really nice fruity summery gin drink recommended and made specially by the barman. Them taking the time to chat to us really made us feel at ease, and had I been looking at their speciality beers I'm sure they'd have been equally helpful in recommending something that we'd like. All in all an excellent place to go if you're looking for somewhere that offers something a little bit special. read more

Great for a big party, especially if you're blokes that love football! Zero degrees is a fairly new microbrewery in the centre of Cardiff. The menu is very much like that of Pizza Express- woodfired pizzas, simple pastas, salads, and standard desserts. The interior is very stark and decorated in 'industrial chic', which makes diners feel as if they are in a warehouse! The lower level is dominated by a large bar, overwhich hangs a projection screen for showing sporting events. Ladies, be wary- this is not the best restaurant for a date! It's extremely noisy and dark, and the ENORMOUS television demands attention from every man in the room. The food is acceptable but nothing exciting, and the atmosphere is suited more to large, boisterous groups than to intimate dining. The staff are occasionally inattentive- they too have a hard time resisting the magnetic pull of the huge screen! Verdict: Great for a bloke's night out, not so great for a date! read more

I went here whilst on the uni open day with my sister. I'm not sure I'd have ever come across it without the help of Yelp, because it was tucked away down a side street. The decor is unusual; it is spacious and modern, and much of it looked to be original artwork. The fact that it is a brewery adds to the uniqueness of it. Unfortunately, our experience was slightly brought down by how awful the background music was. It's difficult to not be put off by awful covers of songs that weren't brilliant to start with! We ordered a soft drink from the bar before we sat down. It was expensive, but I'm not sure how that compares to other places like it because it is in a large city. The man who served us was very friendly. We both ordered pizza, and were not waiting long before it arrived. The waitress was also friendly, so overall I would say that the service was excellent. Our pizza was also fantastic, and I was reminded of pizza I'd eaten in Italy, so obviously authentic. Overall, I would recommend it again. read more
