During summer and autumn of 2020, when we were finally allowed to seat/socialise, Zaerodegrees was a life saver. First, they took part in Eat out to help out scheme, then they extended it (if I remember correct till November). Moreover, they made a lot of effort to maintain safer environment- some of the tables were taped, to ensure the social distancing. Now, to the food - I just loved it. Their risottos were just amazing! My friends, who usually had pizza, didn't complain either. The stuff was very attentive, making sure we had all we needed. Wandering the Riverside with 9 colleagues looking for a team dinner, we knew we should have made a reservation, but we had no idea there would be more than five. So here we are, walking, looking in windows for big empty tables, moving on. No one could help us until we found Zero Degrees. A few empty tables downstairs near the bar, but upstairs they were able to put a table together for us. While they have a wide selection of drinks and beers available, clearly the focus here is on their own brewed choices: Pilsner, Pale Ale, Black Lager and Wheat Ale. There is also a reasonably decent menu which centers around their oven baked pizzas with over a dozen different choices, ranging from plain pepperoni to Teriyaki Chicken and Smokin' Mexican. I went with the Gorgonzola and Caramelized Pears, which arrived topped with rocket ("arugula" in American) and ranch dressing plus a few roasted walnuts. Absolutely yummy. Like so many English pizzas I have enjoyed, they don't slice them which as an American I still find a little odd. Pizza just doesn't work well when eaten with a knife and fork. No matter, I figured out how to slice it and pick it up like the uncouth Yank I am. Everyone in the party enjoyed their dinner and the beers, the only downside was that they were out of pitchers which seemed unfair for us since my end of the table only wanted Pilsners. Oh well. Notes: outside seating on the first ("second") floor. The loos ("bathrooms") are on the basement level. They have stairs, but also a lift ("elevator") for those who need assistance. Good beer, good pizza, decent service. I would return to Zero Degrees. read more

I've lived near Reading for most of my life, this was the hot spot to be seen for underage drinkers - yet now when I return I find gems such as this. Yes it is a chain (as most of the town centre is) yet t is only one of four. The first thing I think is that this place is a little empty, but I'm reassured by the wafts of garlic that meet my nose as I enter...mmmm. Okay, the menu as a synopsis; not really Italian, not really French, not really gastro dining yet it works. Why? They food is well cooked, the service friendly, if a little too efficient and all that space is actually nice, it's not empty, just minimalist. It had been a long day and we were hungry. Zerodegrees came to our rescue. The restaurant has a cavernous yet warm feel that is romantically lit and inviting. The actual decor is clean cut with an industrial edge due to them proudly brewing their own beer on site. Like Lizzie said, Zerodegrees cannot be categorised as simply an Italian restaurant. It is strongly themed towards Italian but when sausage and mash, Green thai curry and BBQ chicken salad appear on the menu, someone has clearly moved away from Luigi's traditional recipe manual. With all this said and done, the pizza selection is impressive and the ones we ate were thin based, non greasy and delicious. The salad tasted fresh and the wine was served quickly and competently. If you are looking for a meal on the way home from work, spare Zerodegrees a thought, they aren't bad. read more

This review is based upon a Monday dinner and drinks at happy hour. Beer was 3£ 1500 To 1900. On Monday your entree is the price of the time of your order - so my order was 7pm so 7£. Not the best example of a micro brewery. The beer menu was very poor and expensive. Staff a bit grumpy and unhelpful. But the place was comfortable albeit a bit dark. Still managed to get a mention on the good beer guide amazingly-yet not in my opinion worth the visit. read more

I'm on the fence on this one. The bar is really dark and dingy and looks filthy. On the other hand, the beers are great and the restaurant food not too bad either - although heavily overpriced I would say for what is essentially the same food as a Pizza Express. read more

As a place to eat its above average and the many beers they sell are fairly cheap. So thats the men sorted As a place to hang out for a few drinks with friends, I found this place to be dark and dingy with sticky floors. If you dont like beer there isnt much choice but it is a micro brewery after all! It has a rather 'industrial' feel to it with all the pipes and steely walls. Because there is so much metal exposed inside it does get extremely loud in here and I found myself shouting a lot. Not an all nighter place. read more

I traveled from Alaska to Reading because I heard the food was excellent. My server was Ardita, me and my boyfriend Benjamin Opolis went together to the resturaunt with our children named Anne & Nicholas. Anne asked for a small coke a cola, and Ardita gave her a 12 inch beer. Ardita was not the best at memorizing the orders. Ardita gave Nicholas the Coke instead of the Sunny D. Overall the food was ok, and I left Ardita a 1 dollar tip before she threw a piece of pasta at my hair. Very unsatisfied. read more

0 degrees is a good place to eat. The menu has a lot of Italian food such as pizza, pasta, risotto. Also on the menu are salads, starters (I had Bruschetta which was nice) and mussels. The bartender said they have some of the best mussels in town. I ordered the Smokey Mexican pizza which had good taste. The prices are fair and the beer is great. The seating on the main level is nice, candles on tables, open areas, casual atmosphere. There is a bar on the lower level with tables, chairs, couches, stools. We were there on a Tuesday for dinner and a pint and ended up drinking 5 total. The music was good as well. The staff was very attentive, bartender (Pete or Phil) was awesome. If i didn't have 5 pints I might remember his name. As mentioned in other reviews they make their own beer so that is cool in itself. I would recommend for a nice pizza or good beer. Zero degrees is one of the newer additions to the Reading restaurant scene offering diners a choice of wood-fire oven pizzas, pasta and pots of mussels as well as a small choice of beers made on site (pils, pale ale, wheat ale, dark ale). I have never tried the mussels as i don't really like seafood but have been told that they are out of this world. My personal favourites there are the pizzas. They have some very nice toppings (such as the thai chicken and the bbq chicken pizzas). The drinks are reasonable too. A pint of beer will cost £2.70, a bottle of house wine will cost £12.25. The staff are always friendly, although the service can be slow during busy times. read more

A frequent visitor to the bar for the wheat ale which makes a nice change, I visited the restaurant last weekend which was really enjoyable. Good service and excellent tasty food, reasonably priced and with a nice ambience. read more

Great brick oven pizzas. Stopped in here on a weekday, and was pleasantly surprised by their two-for-one lunch deals. If you're into craft beers, it looks like a great microbrewery too. But the brick oven pizza is top notch (and has a ton of varieties) so you can just bypass the rest of the menu. read more

I have visited this place a few times and find it to be interested and to have a new and modern twist on things. If you are after a few drinks then it certainly is a good place to stop in. BUT as far as food and a relaxing drink goes it falls short. I have been there a few times with intension to eat but the first time it took so long we ended up walking out after waiting for more then 25 minutes for a bottle of wine and it wasn't even busy. I do like the general set up of the place and for a drink I would recommend but if your looking for a meal best looking somewhere else. read more
