Not sure if views like the ones at Zilker Clubhouse are common in Austin, but I have to imagine the scene overlooking Downtown Austin from the courtyard of Zilker Clubhouse is one of the most beautiful visuals in the city. My friend got married at Zilker over the weekend, and I doubt they could have found a more beautiful location to say, "I do." Or, "sure... why not?" Or, "fuck, I guess so...." Those are all suitable options for confirming a wedding vow, yeah? If you're planning a special event--perhaps a wedding or anniversary--I strongly recommend you try to get your grubby little paws on this place for the evening. From what I understand, it's such a popular destination, you need to enter a lottery just to be granted permission to use it. Act quick, but try not to book the spot in November. It was windy as a mother fucker in that piece! Seriously, I think I saw Ross Perot get blown across Town Lake during the strongest part of the wind storm.

Looking back on my wedding photos, I'm extremely happy we got to have this space for our reception. It was a really cold day, which definitely helped, but the rustic nature of the building shines in our photos.

We got married here last week on September 12, 2015. You cannot beat the patio and the view of the Austin skyline. If you want to get married here, you have to be very DIY because the clubhouse itself is not a wedding venue. It belongs to the city and is just a venue for you to do what you please. Many people may be turned off by this, but I loved the freedom to hire whoever I wanted. We hired Pascal's Catering, and they were above and beyond awesome. I can't rave about them enough. I wrote a separate review about them. The site itself includes the clubhouse, which has a kitchen and male and female restrooms, and the patio. The clubhouse provides a lot of tables and chairs, if you want specific numbers, look on the website. We got married inside the clubhouse, and had the reception on the patio. The total number of guests was about 75, and that is an extremely comfortable number for the venue. It's not the greatest venue for huge weddings due to limited space. The buffet was set up inside the clubhouse after the ceremony ended. A huge warning ... the clubhouse is not air conditioned. Lucky for us the temperature dropped into the 80's on our wedding day, and so we did not have an issue with this. But, people have rented swamp coolers and AC units etc for those hot summer days, I've heard. Booking the clubhouse was a bit of a pain. You can book it first come first serve 6 months in advance. Other than that, there's a lottery system if you want to book 10 months out. We did the first come first serve ordeal. There were a handful of dates in Sept that hadn't been reserved already by the lottery system. So, on the first Monday of each month, you are able to show up at COA office and reserve your venue on a first come first serve basis for the 6th month out. For example, I wanted Sept 12, so I showed up on the first Monday of March 2015 and stood in line to book the date. I believe the office opens at 8 am, and I showed up at 6:30 am to wait in line. Other people had the same idea and came early to wait in line for their dates as well. Luckily for all of us in line, we all wanted different dates :) A couple that showed up after me wanted the same date. They showed up at 8:00 AM when they thought the office was opening, not anticipating that people would show up earlier. They were disappointed. I felt terrible for them, but excited for us! Moral of the story is, if you can, show up early and wait in line if you REALLY want this venue. I didn't have any back ups, and I was wiling to be flexible on the dates as long as I got the venue. The building is very rustic, and we received SO many compliments on the venue and the view of the Austin skyline. The clubhouse is extremely affordable to rent, and you get your deposit back if you don't do any damage. They have extremely detailed information on their website. I cannot recommend this place enough!

We had our wedding at Zilker Clubhouse on June 18, 2011. It was wonderful! Even though it was 105 degrees, it was cool inside the non-airconditioned clubhouse. There was always a nice breeze outside since it situated above downtown. We had our ceremony inside, reception outside...what a blast! Don't give up on your date if you don't win the lottery...we wanted to get married 6 months after our engagement, so we thought there was no way to get the clubhouse. Just call them up and if they have an opening or cancellation after the lottery is completed, it's yours!

Dang! Views of downtown Austin from this city-run clubhouse are magical at sunset. This is a place that can be rented for weddings, photo shoots, alumni parties, etc. It's a bit ragged in places (uh, paint and a bit of carpentry work would do wonders) but its location makes up for the dirt in the corners, I guess.

Beautiful view of Austin on the patio area. We rented the white chairs.

Similar in design to The Roosevelt. If you want to go The Roosevelt without reservations and waiting for space to open up, this is a great way to pass the time until then. Just like The Roosevelt, they offer N/A cocktails, classic cocktails, and house creations. The N/A espresso martini is primo. The French 75 is one of the best I've had in the U.S. House creations, Show Business, Estatua Verde, and Standing Ovation are my faves! Show Business: Hendrick's Gin, Witch Hazel, Lavender, and other flavors Estatua Verde: White rum, sherry, lime juice, and more including smoke Standing Ovation: Campari, rum, bourbon, espresso, and more. So. Much. Goodness. They get pretty busy too and service can take a bit but never so long that it's bad. In fact, it's good, especially since you're getting high-end cocktails made by talented mixologists.

We actually found it pretty last minute and decided to go early since we knew we'd be taking photos and didn't want to deal with crowds. When we arrived, it was pretty quiet, which honestly worked out perfectly for us. The décor is bold and eclectic in the best way, think velvet booths, curated gallery walls, low lighting, and these amazing feathered chandeliers that tie the whole space together. We ordered the Tiger Lilly cocktail and the Elote, both were fantastic. The drinks are not only pretty but good, which isn't always a given in places that are more vibe-forward. Ours were balanced, flavorful, and well-presented. The DJ was there, early, which was a nice surprise, it gave the whole place some life without being overwhelming. The staff was super kind, especially the manager who came by to check in and even gave us a little background on the space. We appreciated how welcoming everyone was. We heard that the night before had been packed, so it sounds like this place definitely fills up later at night. We're looking forward to coming back when it's livelier to get the full experience, but for a chill early visit focused on ambiance, great service, and creative drinks, it absolutely hit the mark. Pro tip: If you're someone who loves a visually aesthetic experience and wants a place to snap a few pics before the rush, go early like we did. Can't wait to return!

Christina also confirmed this in her review, you HAVE to use one of MOYA's vendors. So sorry, Christina, for your horrible experience at Springdale Station, and for getting ripped off. We ALSO definitely do NOT recommend Springdale Station! Honest review for those considering this as a venue: The indoor space is very SMALL. It is not a good location for a large amount of guests. You will find three rooms inside (one with some stairs that are required to access it). The foyer serves as one of these rooms, so once you make it through the line to get inside, you are inside one of the three small rooms! The event we attended was very crowded and everyone was bumping into each other. Again, in OUR experience, this is NOT a good venue for a large group of people. The outside has a very small patio, with a LARGE amount of dirt. Definitely not a good location for anything even slightly dressy. Something casual, cowboy-like, perhaps a kids' casual party...those might work. The dirt area is large. (And VERY dirty!) We came home with dirt up to our calves. Gross! Keep this in mind, and check this out thoroughly before signing any contract with Moya. Buyer beware!!! Outside seating on the small patio was extremely limited. Literally only ONE sofa. Moya needs to addressed this. Would be nice if guests could actually sit down. Ridiculously inhospitable! We have attended several events in Austin, this one is only suitable for a super casual OUTDOOR event. (And hopefully it is priced accordingly...). Again, please prepare to get dirty if the weather is dry, and if it rains you will have muddy shoes. If you wear any type of heel, you will sink into their wet mud. Again, this is another item that Moya still needs to address. (Hello? GREATLY enlarge that tiny patio!). Good grief. Last issue - parking. Many other reviewers have also mentioned this. The parking lot was large, but it was (is) shared by other businesses so finding an actual parking spot was very difficult. Highly recommend if you have to go to Springdale Station that you use a taxi, (etc.) to get there and back. Again, research thoroughly before committing. There are so many other decent venues in Austin, we don't know why anyone would pick this one!
