I love this little market. Has a deli and bakery, a little market with produce and even freezer items.

Being able to pick up my (large) bakery order and not leaving someone disappointed at home makes me happy. Had my list of must haves. I meandered through all the departments. Wasn't on a time schedule. I spent 2 hours in the store. Found beautiful baby lamb chops. Filets were $6/lb cheaper than my grocery store. Bought beautiful endive. Had to bring home the red wine peppered salami. Coming home, opening the cooler, and handing out foodie presents is like Christmas morning. The oohs and aahs were heard at multiple houses. The staff were very helpful finding my treasures. Wegmans trips make traveling for business worth it.

I found it to be quite a good store, with everything you could want: my weird health-food desires like coconut flour and buckwheat groats (that I usually have to visit specialty stores for); pharmacy supplies; lots of pre-made food; diverse international offerings; plenty of organic and pre-cut produce; flowers, etc. Despite it being my first time, I was able to navigate it without too much difficulty. When they were out of green onions, a friendly worker was able to refill the bin quickly for me (and direct me to the spacious, clean bathrooms). They have tons of checkout lines, only a couple were open with humans; and they have lots of self-checkout too. I mean, it's just a grocery store, but it's a pretty good one!

Being the only grocery store…read morein town, there is no pressure/competition to create a store that promotes freshness, competitive pricing, and an overall positive shopping experience. Guaranteed that every time I visit I will find expired items in multiple parts of the store, so much that it is almost a game to see who can find the most expired items. It becomes frustrating when I forget to check everything and get home and see that items are not in date causing a trip to return. Once there was a moldy pre-packaged pizza crust, which I removed from the shelf and just set it onto of a display in a very visible location. Two days later it was still there. When I brought it to the attention of the management, the response was, "that is our distributers responsibility." I guess store pride is not important. While most cashiers are friendly enough, the overall attitude of store employees/management appears to be, "You can shop somewhere else if you are not happy." Responses to questions/concerns are received in form-letter replys. I could probably look past several of these concerns if the prices were low, but since there is no competition, this Weis is actually more expensive than the nicer Wegmans store in the city. Even though there is the potential to be a customer friendly community store resembling of years past, this Weis has chosen to capitalize on the monopoly it has in the area.

It really helped when when provisions were only a few miles away. Typical Giant store layout with the produce and yuppie type juices on the right as soon as you enter the store with the deli in the back and the freezer/fridge stuff towards the back left with dry goods in the middle. What made this location pretty decent was that they had: * More than enough parking. Sure they share a lot with a beer store, Subway and a Chinese restaurant along with a McD's plus a bank next store but even with that I never had a far walk. * More than enough cashiers on duty. Unlike my local Giant where seemingly having more than two cashiers on a time is some kind of a violation of the Geneva Convention, both times in the store they had almost all of the lanes open plus the self checkout stations worked flawlessly. * The people working at the deli were very efficient and friendly. But: * The deli location each time I came was out of their "store made" (i.e. defrosted) mac and cheese. When I asked I was told that it would be at least thirty minutes until another batch could be rendered. Also fairly vile was the store made meatloaf which looked like little brown burnt driveway pavers. * Some of the aisles are really narrow. Way too many useless displays and floor fridges/freezers holding things all over the place. Overall it's the same prices as home, they took my Bonus Card no question and each time I was in and out in under fifteen minutes. Not great but it could be a lot worse or the drive could be a lot further from Little Buffalo.
