After calling and requesting to speak directly with Phillip Acevedo 3 times, I gave up. It would appear he's too busy to endure a (less than) 5 minute phone call. You can be sure he's never too busy to collect thousands of dollars from you on your way out his door! My father was a back surgeon and ALWAYS returned phone calls the first time. After leaving a message verbal message with staff 3 times, then 3 separate email attempts PLUS sending a formal letter to him, I came to realize Mr. Acevedo is igoring me. What a guy! If it's good ol' fashion dentistry with courtesy your seeking, go elsewhere! If you want unreliable medical care, join Phillips team! I like Dr Powell. I have gone to him for years. The new office and staff are not friendly or professional. I left a positive review for Dr Powell many years ago. I do not like the staff at the new office for the subpar work that was done when I was there last. Flossing was the only thing done for cleaning. read more

This place is ridiculous. They are constantly trying to upcharge you. I went in for a cleaning and they said they could only do a deep cleaning for an extra $150 and kept pushing a laser treatment. I left after an hour with nothing done. They wouldn't do just a normal cleaning. Everything was a sales pitch to get more money. Do not go here. read more

Dr Powell is great! Really great. BUT - and this is a HUGE but - he has done something with the practice where he now has charlatans running the office and support staff bullying the patients into getting expensive procedures that aren't necessary. We left the practice after being bullied by a hygienist. And now, 2 years later, they are charging us for a dental insurance plan that we never authorized. $500 worth of dental insurance from a practice we haven't been to in 2 years. We tried to challenge the charge through the credit card company and Zions Dental lied and said we signed up for the plan. Our hand is being forced to report to the licensing board for these unethical practices. Sad, really, because we really love Dr Powell. read more

If I could give a zero I would. Zion cancelled my appointment because I didn't confirm I was coming. I live 30 minutes away if I wasn't going to make it I would have called them like I have done before. I looked at my messages and had a confirmation message sent to me 24 hours prior. Why didn't I get a cancellation message? The receptionist was less than helpful. Myself and my husband will not be returning. Completely unprofessional experience. The office seems to run more like a mill. It wasn't like this in the past. I was a patient for years, but no longer. The hygienists are over worked and over booked. Time with them is minimized which makes the process rushed and painful. Never before have I experienced a practice where the floss and polish is done before the cleaning, and not by the hygienists, but by some folks who are clearly not hygienists. read more

I went there had x-rays, cleaning then fillings they said my part for cleaning was $200 next was the fillings my part was to be $400 but if I paid early I would get a 5% discount I payed but guess what they said my insurance never paid what they thought I called my insurance they told me I was only responsible for $400 with my 5% discount would be $380 They kept sending me notices I owed them yes you guessed it $20. The dentist was worried about time. This is what happened to me. I paided the $20 and canceled any future appointments. read more

I am a retired dentist. I had a private dental office for 42 years and I know what dentists are permitted to charge for and what they are not permitted to charge for. Dr. Powell and Schmidt charge patients for things they are not supposed to charge for. They both do not know I am a dentist. But that should not make any difference. Zion Dental charged me for a comprehensive exam that was never done. They also charged me for two limited focused exams that also were never done. Further, they charged me separately for 2 adjustments on a single crown that was done just days before. People should know that adjustment on any restoration or crown is considered part of and included in the fee for a completed filling or crown. A separate fee should not be charged. Zion Dental and Dr. Powell and Dr. Schwartz are unethical. People should also know that Zion Dental's 5-star review is because they pay Yelp additional monthly money 'to look good', which is why this review will be buried quickly. read more

My first visit and getting a dental plan was satisfying and then down hill on my second appointment. What dental plan I left with on my first visit was not put in the dental records correctly. My second visit I had to go over what was to be done with the Doctor and new chair side tech all over again. I was a little shaken but went ahead with the impressions and made a third appointment to get my three teeth pulled and receive the partial. I received a phone call 15 minutes before my 3rd appointment that they didn't schedule enough time and would have to reschedule. I would have to wait another 3 weeks. There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe my experience here. I was on vacation when my bridge came off. Called them and they agreed to see me. Took me two hours to get there from where I was. I was seen immediately, even though there were several people being treated. Everyone, from the sweet gal at the front desk, the dentist and his assistant were phenomenal. I am very anxious at any dentist, but these guys put me at ease. Was in and out very quickly. Top notch service, and at a reasonable price. They treated me so special even though I will likely never return. If I lived within 300 miles of here, I would go there for all of my dental needs. I recently went to Dr. Powell for some dental work for my first time. He was good at giving shots, and kept me comfortable. My favorite thing about him is that he told me everything he was doing, what sounds I would hear, what I would feel and what he needed me to do. I have anxiety about people being too close to my face, so his chair side manner was very comfortable for me. I can't say I enjoy going to the dentist, but he is a great one to go to, and I got to watch a good movie. :) Great service, good prices. read more
