The staff at Zion Window Fashions (ZWF) of St. George, Utah, to include Brian Mandile (owner/operator) and Garth, are nice people. However the quality of ZWF's installation is poor, their products are defective, and the business does not honor warranties on the products it sells. Our installation of 25 RollEase shades in 2020 was seriously botched. Roughly one third of the powered shades were never connected to any power source. The batteries eventually depleted and the shades failed to operate. ZWF fixed the installation, at no cost, by connecting the failed shades to a power source. A year later we discovered that roughly half of those repairs were also botched. ZWF incorrectly wired several shade motors to battery rechargers in a manner that prevented recharging and accurate status reporting to the app. We fixed this problem ourselves by rewiring the affected motors. Additional problems with ZWF's installation included: - Incorrectly installed pull cords - Shade covers that were not glued down properly causing them to bubble up - Incorrectly calibrated motor limits, causing the shades to rise and fall over differing travel distances - Shades that were improperly connected/glued to the rollers causing them to detach, buckle, and improperly rise and fall - Not honoring product warranties on three failed motors. In April 2022, following two years of operation three RollEase motors failed. After waiting four months for ZWF to honor its 7-year warranty on these items, we eventually bought new motors at our expense. Our order of new motors was delivered in two weeks. Yet after four months ZWF continued to maintain that their order of new motors was "expected next week". As of August 20, 2022, ZWF has yet to honor any product warranty on any product they sold us. How can it be that a professional, authorized provider of this product is unable to acquire in four months what we were able to do in two weeks? We attempted to obtain warranty replacement motors via RollEase directly. They told us that they would not honor any product warranty since that was the responsibility of the retailer -- Zion Window Fashions. Communications with and customer support from ZWF fashions was also poor. Over the course of two years we were never able to reach a ZWF employee by phone. ZWF never returned calls, never responded to voicemails, and rarely responded to e-mails. On occasion ZWF would reply to text messages. The only time we were able to obtain customer support from ZWF is when we visited the store in person. We also had many experiences where ZWF neglected to provide us with very relevant information. These communication issues included: - Awareness that several of the blinds were installed without power - How to set up the app - How to calibrate the motor limits - Awareness that after two years the motors will change their speed relative to other motors - Awareness that the motors ZWF installed were soon be phased out by the manufacturer - Recommending that we replace defective motors with different type of motors, while not disclosing the fact that each motor type operates at very different speeds and noise levels, which is highly undesirable - Awareness that the WIFI hub controller is unable to consistently send open & close signals to the blinds, leaving blinds in altered states on any given day At a cost of $16K+, our experience with ZWF resulted in two years of frustration, dozens of negative surprises, unmet commitments, forced in-person visits to obtain service, significant out of pocket costs for replacement parts, defective products with no warranty, and many operational issues. For us, doing business with ZWF was an expensive mistake, consequently we now DIY everything regarding our shades. I strongly recommend that shade/blind customers seek providers other than ZWF of St. George and product manufacturers other than RollEase. read more
