There is so much to take in and holiday music also sets the mood. We met the gentleman who maintains this wonderful display year after year and he was kind enough to speak to us for a few minutes while we checked out the production. (If he ever happens to see these reviews: THANK YOU! For all that you do!). There is a voluntary donation box if a person is compelled to pitch in some cash to help offset the electric bill. Looking forward to this annual tradition as long as the display continues.

The house for years was located on Adams run road in Lousiville has moved over to green manor drive a few years back. Still has the same fun and charm as it did at the previous location. The lights are awesome but the roller coaster is always the main event for me and my kids. It takes about 2.5 minutes for a full cycle but it is well worth the wait. A true holiday tradition me and the kids check out every year. It is also only a few miles away from other local legends off outer loop road in toyland Christmas and blue light show. Plus is a Mile or so away from highview holiday fest awesome lights at highview park. So it is truly in a hotspot for awesome holiday lights exploring and you can make a really cool and fun night in that small few mile radius. One thing I always like to give a friendly reminder to people when it comes to awesome light displays like this is for people to please remember this is in a functioning residential neighborhood and to please be courteous to peoples properties and privacy. It can get very crowded here especially the closer you get to Christmas. So just be patient and enjoy the lights and let everyone else do so as well. Overall very cool and fun tradition my family and I do every year. The owner has a sign where he says donations to help with his lg&e are appreciated. Which I can understand and I don't think that's outlandish as this house has provided holiday cheer for many over the years locally in the louisville area.

Shopping online is convenient but it will never be equivalent to the physical experience associated with a brick and mortar store. And there are several unique and locally owned stores along this strip; food and drink, coffee, sweet treats, thrift, clothing, gift, tattoo, art, book, music, and more. Several merchants had beautiful holiday light displays and the trolley runs continuously up and down Bardstown Rd offering free rides. Catching the trolley is easy, just wave and it stops. I'm only giving 4 stars because I expected to see tables/booths set up outside the stores to give it that festival vibe, but I was disappointed that very few did this. Overall it was a laid back pleasant experience and my partner and I hope to make it a tradition

It can also be considered a cookie hide and go seek. Most of the merchants along Bardstown Rd open their doors and offer free snacks to entice folks in off the street. With beautiful weather in the 50s, we started down by Day's Coffee with our first stop at St. James Catholic Church. The parish had a huge cookie and hot cider table set up out front and the Church was open to view (lovely architecture) and enjoy music from several choirs and the parish organist. We headed up Bardstown towards the Loop, but I think we should have gone the other direction. Although there was much to see (& eat) the way we went, I missed the holiday market at Molly Malone's and street party atmosphere of lower Bardstown Rd. As expected for a Sat night, even when there's nothing going on, parking is challenging and there are pedestrians everywhere. Some, smaller stores can feel a tad claustrophobic, but there's plenty to see out on the sidewalks!

You line up for the entrance and drive slowly through the light show which features everything from classical holiday designs, characters and figures to pop culture decorations such as super hero's or popular tv characters. The closer you get to Christmas the longer the lines will be. Especially on a Friday or Saturday night. I take my family through here every few years as it's a decent haul from Lousiville. We try and go on an early December weekday night so it is t very crowded and then we go into town and find a place to dine (we always seem to end up at the cool wicked eye woman). Overall This a free, cool and large holiday lights display. Perfect to put anyone or any family in the holiday spirits. Great job by the folks of Elizabethtown and freeman lake park for hosting This event annually.

I've been to botanical gardens in other cities where the community and local officials don't dedicate resources to it. I'm not sure of the entire breakdown here for funding but I do know they'll obtain a round of funding, build out, and repeat. In the future, this botanical garden will rival some of the best in the country. I don't even think 25% of this place has been developed yet. On the last visit, it was for the holiday light decorations. We got super lucky, arrived, and within 20 minutes it started snowing. It made the experience so worth it. Out of other holiday happenings around town, (Light up downtown, the mega caverns, etc etc), I much preferred this even over all the others. The light decoration isn't the largest but I still think it's worth it. Kids will love it and as long as you're not a grumpy gus(No offense Gus) of a human being, you should have a good time. The gardens part through the spring and summer is also fun but limited. Again, it's going to take time as the years go by but the botanical gardens definitely adds something to the city of Louisville.

I will admit, that I was a little "meh, okay." about the whole thing initially. I was excited about some time with my friend and the lights were secondary. But I gotta say....it was much more than I expected! The silk around the lights and armatures looked beautiful and made the animals and plants that were displayed look like stained glass. There were some interactive displays (moving ones, smoke-filled bubbles, walk-through ones) that were lovely and lots of fun, for children and grown ups alike! And fine...I will say it. It was a little bit magical! We chose a weeknight and a little later in the evening to avoid too much of a crowd. There were some congested areas, but that is to be expected. Also a little perk....seeing some of the nocturnal-y animals being a bit more active and sleeping primates :-P It reminded me a lot of the River of Lights Christmas event in Albuquerque at the BioPark, just with warmer weather and closer to my home. Both are a lot of fun and worth a visit!
