This zoo is beautiful. We got the annual membership last year and have visitors three times already, even though it's about an hour and a half way from us. There's a parking garage just a few blocks away and you can get your ticket validated at the zoo so that you pay less money. The zoo is right next to the Central Train Station, which is beautiful as well. You can take a train depending on your city for more convenience if you prefer not to drive.

I don't know. Going and visiting a zoo in a foreign city, especially a city on the other side of the world, doesn't seem to be as fantastic as visiting a zoo somewhere in Australia. Maybe it has something to do with there being a lot more things to do in European cities, or rather that their zoos are designed more for the locals than they are for the tourists. Anyway, the Antwerp Zoo isn't all that bad, and they helpfully provide a route for you to follow so as to see all of the animals. The problem I had was that when it rained there wasn't much in the way of shelter. However, the zoo itself was reasonably large and had a pretty impressive collection of animals. One of the odd things though was seeing a kangaroo so far from home.

This zoo prides its self on being one of the oldest in the entire world. Being so old means cool looking buildings and architecture, which they had plenty of. I came here in the later afternoon towards closing time during the week and it didn't seem that busy. At 26 Euros, I found the admission to be a bit pricey in my opinion, especially for such a small zoo. The entire park can easily be walked through in about an hour or two. They have plenty of exhibits with lots of different animals including marine animals and insects (they had an amazing indoor butterfly garden). The animals here seemed a bit off and lazy, maybe because it was a warm day for Antwerp at the time. The underwater exhibits were pretty cool, I loved their large tank of fish. Unfortunately I didn't get much time here because my train was leaving very soon, but the good news is that this place is literally right outside central station. This is a great place for animal lovers and kids but still a bit pricey.

What a day at Pairi Daiza! A group of 9 of us all met up - and I'm impressed with how smooth the…read moreday was, and the overall experience. It felt like a theme park instead of a zoo. We arrived 945am to get a parking spot - and the lot was already filling up before it officially opens at 10am. Definitely arrive around 930am if you want to be in the lot closest to the entrance. They also have many accessible parking spots close to the entrance. There is tons of parking though, you might just have to walk a bit. We were with my sister in law who is in a wheelchair, so I was initially apprehensive about the limitations she might face. However, in the end, she had a really good time and loved it. First thing is that they actually have on their website a map specifically for wheelchair users. It reccomends a specific route that will make sure you see almost everything in the park, and not face barriers like stairs. They have a mix of elevators, and ramps through the park. Some of the ramps are a little steep, keep this in mind. My sister in law has an electric wheelchair, so she was able to get up and down the ramps. Yes, there are a few parts of the park that are inaccessible, but the park is so large you wouldn't really be missing anything. We stayed from 10am until 7pm (closing), and still had way more to see. You can bring your own food and water into the park, and I would reccomend this to save money. We did a mix - we ate at the outdoor African themed pavilion, and the food was good. Definitely bring lots of water as there are no water fountains. The park is split into two sections - Pairi Daiza (main park) , and a newer section Edenya. Where as the main park is almost entirely outside, Edenya is in a large glass paneled building. Edenya ticket is extra, but I was worth it. We probably spent most of time here actually. I can't believe we walked for almost 9 hours, but we couldn't stop, the whole experience was so engaging. Now time for sleep!

Wonderful zoo, arguably one of the top in the Netherlands. Each animal has a lovely habitat and…read morelots to see and do there. Great place of families with young kids with several playgrounds in the zoo. In particular the indoor playground is perfect for rainy days. Feels like we go there for the playground, and see animals along the way going there! The baby elephant is adorable, the tigers and the polar bears both very cool. One time we actually say the rhino playing around and a giraffe chasing a goose!

A tad pricey but it was really one of the best zoo's I've been too. My hubby had to work in…read moreRotterdam so he sent me and our two girls off to find the zoo. We started off with the sealife area, had CA sea lions up first lol being from CA which we've seen but they were really active, swimming and barking. Their aquarium is really beautiful with so many window displays including a large glass tunnel that had the most amazing views of the sharks, stingrays and fish swimming over your head. The kids were so excited to be surrounded like you were underwater swimming with them. We saw so much and everything was so in your face it was amazing. The kids loved seeing the tiger exhibit they came up right up to the window *although there were some middle school kids there on a fieldtrip or something and they were being super annoying banging and yelling at the windows. I wish there was some park employee there to tell them to knock that sht off! In fact, come to thing of it I don't recall seeing any caretakers or park employees in any of the outdoor exhibits. But moving on, my personal favorite and you must see is the Amazon exhibit. You walk into this and bamm the heat hits your face. You are in a jungle of flowers, plants/trees and there are butterflies small and LARGE flying in your face. I had to hold my shreeks and my hands down as my initial inclination was to scream and swat something that is flying in my face. LOL! The butterflies would stop and feed from these large flower feeders, it was really beautiful to see them so close while the fed. I highly recommend you visit this zoo if you're in Rotterdam. It took us 4 hours to go through the zoo and really enjoy it and maybe because we went during the off season and middle of the week but it wasn't crowded at all which made it more enjoyable. They have a cafe, gift shop and snack shops through out.
