Hello, I've been working w/ Kevin Zulch in a professional capacity for over 10 years. I have been a Small Business Consultant for both Wholesale Design Companies & Fashion & Gift Retail Stores. While I am capable of almost all financial guidelines for these types of businesses, I am nowhere near being an accountant. I can set up systems for business to track expenses, categorize them, produce P&L's, etc, but really have no idea what to depreciate, how to handle the tax needs of various independent business owners setup in different tax situations (LLC's, S-Corps, Sole Proprietors) Etc. Kevin J Zulch (tax preparer, not a CPA) put his $450 bill in to a collections agency when he never filed my taxes (nor filed for an extension). Timeline below. Have copies of all correspondence if needed. I provided Zulch with tax information on March 6th based on the "tax checklist" his office provided. He asked questions on March 21st, to which I responded on March 23rd. I was never interviewed by phone nor had any substantive questions asked regarding the information I provided. The returns were sent to me April 1 with VAST inaccuracies requiring SIGNIFICANT review. I responded with questions on April 8. I heard nothing until April 14, when Zulch informed me that the taxes might not be addressed by the deadline, and my wife immediately responded that this was unacceptable. Mr. Zulch took no further action after "scolding" my wife when she found significant errors in his work 9 days before tax day. No offer of an extension was made- we were simply put on notice that "we may have to extend" late in the evening 3 days before tax day, which we told Mr. Zulch was not acceptable- nor was any effort made to address the errors, despite our clear instructions to phone us. As midnight of tax day approached, I filed for federal and state extensions. Having heard nothing further from him, he was fired the day after tax day. I was sent a bill for "services rendered" which I informed Zulch I would not pay since he had failed to file my return or file an extension. I informed him that I was willing to put this awful experience behind me, provided my final instruction to Mr. Zulch is complied with: "You are hereby directed to shred all materials I provided to you, or in the alternative, return them to me via a secure mailing method. No additional communication is expected or required." I heard nothing from him, nor received any materials back until today when I received a letter from a collections agency seeking $450. read more
