I've been seeing Dr Ahmed for my adult son's mood disorders for several years and I can't say enough good things about him or his staff. He's always been courteous, listening to my concerns and is very educated in his field. One time I suggested upping one of my son's meds and Dr Ahmed explained how that particular med needed to be used and prescribed a different med which turned out to be what was needed. He is a psychiatrist, not a psychologist. If you're looking for someone to listen to all your problems go to a psychologist. Dr Ahmed is there to prescribe the proper medication, which I believe he has done. My son has improved tremendously since being in his care. The staff has always been wonderful and worked with me to schedule and re-schedule appointments. Never had an issue. I would recommend this doctor to anyone and disregard the nasty comments. read more

This man should lose his license. He treated me less than human. He was dismissive of all my concerns and he didn't care how the medications he prescribed to me were affecting me. He was not open to listening to me and what I needed. He also judged me for having medicaid and didn't care to spend anytime with me. He made that apparent and spent five minutes with me. DO NOT GO HERE. This guy just wants your 5 minutes every 3-4 weeks so he can bill your insurance. If you question him at all, he will get loud and talk over you. I had TMS at a different clinic previously, and when I went here, it didn't work. I had different pain sensations and different muscles twitched from the other place that did it, where it was a miracle fix for me. I finally brought up settings and calibrations, and the fact that I was one of their very first patients when they got the machine, and he just got loud and told me there was nothing wrong with it and that he wouldn't even discuss it, then he rage quit the session. Actual Rating: 0. I saw Christy Big Shot, NP. I filled out 20+ minutes of paperwork. Her office was a joke. Two cheap chairs, one broken and with a cheap desk to match. No warmth at all. When I entered her haven, she proceeded to ask me the same exact questions I just spent time filling out. I explained once again the reason I was there. She was not perceptive nor personable at all. Zero personality- void of emotion, seemingly very cold. I get being professional but I've been to other 'actual' psychiatrists (not just a NP) with much more personality. They were capable of showing empathy and expressed a true interest to your situation. They actually possessed the ability to make you feel comfortable and answered your questions in depth. I could trust they weren't just throwing a plethora of unnecessary drugs at you. I even provided a $300 Genesight she seemed to have little to no interest in. Probably because she had no idea how to read it. She only perused the first page of 14. Within 15 minutes of knowing my 52 yrs of life, she immediately deemed me as Bi-Polar. I was in the hospital in 2015 and formally diagnosed by several professionals with G.A.D./Depression. I questioned her diagnosis. She stumbled through her best answer. Overall, she had an attitude when I mentioned I wasn't comfortable. She glared a demeaning look at me. She either hates her job, riding a high horse, or both. She surely came off as she couldn't have cared less. Their rates for cancellations and med refills are much higher than my previous Dr. They made me fill out a signed credit/debit card document which I hadn't done before. WORST PLACE IVE EVER BEEN TO. getting mental health help in MI is already hard enough but this place has managed to make it that much harder. The "office manager" doesn't know what she's doing. She's rude, hung up on me & tried to charge me twice for the same appointment, MULTIPLE times. Saying i didn't pay for an appointment, and when i proved i did she didn't even apologize. I wish there was 0 stars. they truly don't deserve anything. 10 minute zoom appointment was 300$ before insurance. this guy is supposedly "board certified ". prescribed me some very random medication. after i took it for a few days i still didn't feel comfy taking it, tried to call this dingbat and him, nor his office never answered calls voicemails or emails. But he did email me back after about a month and said "someone will call you today" well no one even called and i was far off the medication anyways. just a terrible experience here no one should be seeing this guy. reported to department of health and BBB. Sorry for the long review but I think it will be helpful to someone. I went to Healthy Minds because it was the only Psychiatrist's office in the area taking new patients at the time. In hindsight, that should have been a flag but I just told myself they were a new business or something and pressed on because my psychiatric issues were very bad and my medications could not be put on pause until another office opened up. I met Dr. Ahmed once, as another reviewer has said, when he popped into Kristi's office on my first visit to shake my hand and leave. I went there at least once a month for at least 6 months and that was the ONLY time I ever saw Dr. Ahmed. At my first or second visit Krisit decided it would be good to slowly wean me off of my medications. I was okay with this idea because I didn't want to be on them anyways. I was on three medications, each for different things. I hadn't had a problem with the issue medication #3 was for in about 18 months at the time so I think that was the impetus for getting me off of all the meds...not sure how that really makes sense, but like I said I didn't want to be on them so I didn't question it. I did find it weird, however, that she chose to reduce the amount of medication #1 and medication #1 only, leaving medication #3 (supposedly the one I didn't need anymore) alone. At each subsequent visit I noticed that Kristi would silently type away at her computer while I talked. She would ask one, maybe two, questions but for the most part just blank face staring at her computer screen while I sat there awkwardly trying to communicate with this NPC. The whole appointment would last a total of 5 minutes with her on a long day. She chipped away at medication #1 until I was taking half of the lowest prescribable dose and then left me idling at that level for a while. It was like she didn't want to completely take me off of that one and whenever I mentioned going lower on medication #2 or #3 she would say something generic about not messing with more than one medication at a time, even though she stopped changing the dose of medication #1 a while before. One day I had a medical problem that prevented any movement on my part. I was able to get it sorted out in a couple days' time but during that time I ran out of medication #s 1 and 3 and got pretty darn low on #2. I ended up going "cold turkey" on both of those medications and eventually all of them. Miraculously I was totally fine. It was like my psychiatric problems never existed. I went two whole weeks without any meds and was excited and nervous to tell Kristi at our next appointment. Our appointment begins and she has the same blank face oriented towards her computer, already typing before I start talking as usual. I nervously tell her what happened and end with, "...so I ended up going cold turkey off of all of the medications." I didn't say anything after that waiting for a response from her. I expected a nurse practitioner or psychiatrist or a doctor of some sort to react with at least the same concern as my co-workers and friends. Something along the lines of visible concern and a question of "How are you doing without them? Are you okay?" that kind of stuff. What I got? Nothing. Her face didn't move a muscle, not even a twitch. She might have blinked. I sat there in confused silence for a straight minute thinking she was just catching up on writing her notes and she'd start asking questions any second. Nope. Never stopped typing. Eventually I realized that she never really cared about me as a patient and I could tell her anything I wanted and she would have the same reaction. She might not have even been taking notes. And I decided that no doctor at all was better than paying to drive all the way out there to talk to myself. So I hurriedly said something about I'm doing great, thank you for your time, see you next time, etc. and left with no intention of returning. Fast forward three months of bliss and I'm Googling "psychiatrists in the Lansing area" again because my problems are resurfacing and I refuse to go back to Kristi. Healthy minds showed up as #10 on Yelp's list of the best 10 psychiatrists in Lansing and I decided people need to know what they're getting into when they go to see "Dr. Ahmed". And for those of you thinking about seeing one of their therapists: One of the ladies was quite a bit older than me which I have no inherent problem with except for the fact that she seemed to have an obsession with giving me (outdated and terrible) financial advice and not focusing on what I needed to talk about at all. The other lady was super sweet and listened very well but didn't really help me work through any problems. I'd tell her about a character flaw and she'd praise that trait and tell me it was a wonderful ability and how I'm so amazing. I left every session feeling really great about myself but not making any progress with my underlying issues. read more

This place is a joke. Dr Ahmed is dangerous. If u have seen him more than once and you are still alive, consider yourself lucky. He tried to put me on meds that I am allergic to. When I told him that I absolutely will not take a med that will make me really sick, he said I was not being compliant with him. He also seems to be good at medication "cocktails". If you go thru all his reviews, you will see how dangerous he is. He has put someone in the hospital because of his medication "cocktails ". I have every intention to report him to the board. He shouldn't be allowed to make so many people sick. All he is about is money. Money money. His staff is clueless and I actually feel bad for the other staff because they have to deal with the s**t show of angry patients who he has jacked up with his crazy cocktails.. when he makes so many people sick, thats a problem. I highly suggest reading all of the reviews before seeing him. The way he screws up meds and make people sick, it could be a possible death sentence with his medication cocktails. I would run far far away from this joke who somehow got a license and is willing to put u on meds , after informing him that they make u sick, he doesn't care . Why ask someone for any allergies to meds then turn around and still shove the meds down your throat.. I would rather go with no meds than to allow the idiot to put me on meds that make me sick. I have never taken the time to review any establishment until now, but this one is important. Before going to see Dr. Ahmed I was extremely worried as I had never been to a psychiatrist and after reading reviews I almost canceled my appointment. I am so so happy I did not. My experience after just one visit was life changing. His staff is nothing, but kind and caring. Everything from the reminder call they personally give you all the way until you schedule your next appointment they are sweet and patient. Dr. Ahmed himself gave me open ended questions and let me answer them according to how I was feeling. He did not lead me towards a specific answer that he wanted or make me feel rushed into giving an answer. He then explained how my answer related to my diagnosis and why some of my past actions may have occurred. He then prescribed me the smallest dose of medication and explained to me that we would make small increases at a time. He took the time to tell me about what he prescribed me, how and why it would help, what my responsibilities are as it related to keeping it out of the hands of others and then told me to call immediately if I needed him. He has always been on time, helpful, listened and took the time to make sure I was getting the best care he could give me. So please, if you are thinking about going to see Dr. Ahmed for a legitimate reason..go!!! Don't feel nervous based on some of these other reviews. Do not go to this place, not only is it sketchy he will forget what he's even got out on, bill you when you haven't seen him, change things on you last minute or decide to just stop giving you meds for no reason at all. We made a plan and he decided last minute to just decide he wouldn't do it anymore no reason didn't talk to me just a big fuck you. He treats his patients poorly and it's like a drug mill in there. Dr Ahmed put me on a med after I gave him all my medical history and conditions. Plus all the medication that I am on. The medication I was put on helped me sleep which at this point was what I felt I needed. And since the only thing that Dr Ahmed and Kristi saw on my medical forms and which I told them I never tried to hide anything! Was that I also have to take opioids for chronic pain. So of course they would not prescribe the med that had worked for me for years. But I was willing to try. Little did I know that the new med that I was put on after a little research. You are not supposed to take if you have high cholesterol, low white blood count, low blood pressure. Thyroid problems. Hormone problems, yep got all of them! What I don't have is bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. Which is what the med I was prescribed is for. Not to mention what this med does to you long term. Come on I gave them all my medical information plus told them it. But they couldn't get past the fact that I am on opioids. They didn't have to prescribe what I used to be on. But there are alot of other meds that are better and maybe not dangerous to your patient!.Do your homework Plz. read more
