Yeast and potato dumplings served with pork roast
    Sherrie K.

Biedersteiner strasse Munich, Germany Dumpfnudel...it's a steamed yeast dumpling drenched in rich vanilla sauce. Yes...for dessert, seriously decadent but oh so good. The end to an extremely hearty, filling dinner. German food is essentially stick to your ribs, hearty peasant food. After eating a schnitzel with potatoes or a thick slice of pork roast with rich gravy and dumplings, you'd go out and work in the fields. We enjoyed all the food we had here including the beef steak, sauerkraut and green salad. I love Apfel strudel so my meal ended with that, delicious with warm vanilla sauce. Super cozy and comfortable dining room with hard wood floors, white table clothes and waiters dressed in lederhose. Friendly, proud of their delicious offerings and efficient. The beer was divine-we love the beer everywhere we go in Europe, but especially in Germany. They know how to do it right.

Cute restaurant caters to many airline crew since we stay nearby at hotel overall the food is good and service is key for us. I was with a party of 4 came in on a Sunday opens at 5pm my 2 friends had the schnitzel and my friend and I had the sliced pork with mushroom sauce which was the better choice, the red cabbage for a side was very good.

I love the food and service here. I felt very local here. All the staff were wearing traditional clothes. Very German feel & I love it.

Great food. Excellent service. Overall fantastic dining experience. We'll definitely be back

Great experience as a group of English speaking visitors. It's a nice walk from Marriott and everyone enjoyed their beer and food. Service was great as well.

I was invited to dinner here. I had no idea this place existed despite having been in this area numerous times. It's a Bavarian restaurant with an outdoor area very close to the English garden. The interior is nice and cozy and looks like a classic Bavarian Wirtshaus. The menu is also classic bavarian with a daily specials list. A few choices for drinks and beers also. Service is good and I had a Wiener schnitzel which was ok. I must admit not one of the better ones in town but tasted ok. The dessert was also ok. All in all an ok experience. Not a bad choice for Bavarian food in town if you happen to be in the area.

Nice Bavarian restaurant near the English Garden and about a 5 min Uber from Hilton. Serves Bavarian food and also has an outdoor courtyard beer garden for when the weather was nice. My co-workers and I cam here for dinner. We had one native German speaker in the group, but did not need, as waiter spoke English and menus were in German and English. Food was good, a solid 3 star. Myself and one other had the the pork loin with spatzle and mushrooms. One had the Wiener Schnitzel and one had the Munich Schnitzel. For my dish, the mushrooms and spatzle were my favorite part, and were delicious. However they overcooked the pork, and it was dried out. My work mates ordered a few of the desserts, which we all agreed where better than the mains. BTW, this is where it helps to have a German speaker, as the menu descriptions did not do them justice. One was deep fried apple rings served with vanilla ice cream. The other was like someone made a very giant, very thick pancake with raisins, then dipped it in egg batter like french toast and fried it, then broke it up into bit size pieces and put in a big bowl for the whole table. This smelled and tasted like little pieces of bread pudding fried in butter and was very addictive and delicious. It was served with a bowl of apple sauce on the side, for you to spoon over your own serving.

Short walk from the hotel, bright and nice place with waiters in Liederhosen. Great beer and bar drinks. Food is fantastic, authentic and good portions. The munchener schnitzel is fantastic. The pork was delicious. Not a huge menu, but what is there is great. Warm atmosphere in a quiet community. Most servers spoke English, and they have an English menu. Save room for dessert!

Nice little restaurant/Biergarten near our hotel. Authentic Munich-Style food, daily specials and friendly English-speaking service.

Zum Brunnergarten is a bit off the beaten path (located in Luitpold Park) but our Airbnb host…read morerecommended it. It's apparently his favourite beer garden in Munich. It's a mix of German and Balkan food. We dropped in on a Thursday afternoon (around 1:45pm) and it was filled with a small group of German seniors enjoying the sunshine. Seems like a lot of regulars come here. There's no English menu (we asked) but our server was extremely helpful and spoke excellent English. The menu consists of bread, sausages, warm food, small plates and grilled dishes. Their drink menu is extremely cheap and reasonable. - Radler (€2,90 for 0,5L) - they mix their radler with 7 Up. Not much taste wise but it's light. - Weissbier (€3,20 for 0,5L) - supposedly malty but to me, it was light. Typical German beer. - Pfannkuchensuppe (€3,00) - German pancake soup. Broth is a light, clear soup; reminded me of chicken noodle soup. The strips of pancake were interesting but plain. - Pommes (€3,00) - a side of thin cut fries with a package of curry ketchup. These reminded me of McDonald style fries. Decent filler. - Grillteller (€12,90) - served with djuvec rice, raw chopped onions and ajvar (red bell pepper and oil sauce). The grilled meat platter included a spicy sausage, two cevapcici, kalbsleber (calf liver) and pork. All the meat was excellently grilled but our favourite cuts were the pork (juicy and moist) and spicy sausage (tasty with a slight kick to it). Worth a visit especially if you want a more local beer garden experience.

We ordered the pork knuckle, pretzel with beer cheese, and beer. The pork knuckle arrived cold and lacked flavor, while the pretzel didn't seem particularly fresh either. The beer pour was especially disappointing--the amount of foam/head was ridiculous, and for a place associated with such a famous brewery, I expected a much better pour. The photos really speak for themselves. Service was the biggest issue. We repeatedly tried to get someone's attention to place our order, but the servers seemed to avoid eye contact and kept waiting for someone else to help us. Even getting the check was a struggle--we eventually had to get up and go to a counter ourselves. It felt like the staff had little interest in actually serving the customers. The atmosphere itself has the traditional Bavarian beer hall feel, but unfortunately, the poor food, disappointing beer pour, and especially the terrible service completely overshadowed it. I really wanted to like this place, but based on our experience, there are much better beer halls and beer gardens in Munich.

Katastrophaler Laden.
