Unfortunately, this restaurant has lost its way. The service was seriously the worst I've experienced in years. The food has suffered from shrinkflation to the point of an entree now looking like an appetizer, and the food is bland and uninteresting. I politely offered an easy way for the wait staff to make up for it shortcomings (simply replace an after-dinner drink that was promised at the start but that no longer existed with another drink), but management had no interest. read more

Every few years I find myself in Buenos Aries working at Teatro Colon. I stay two blocks from Zum Edelweiss. It's my go-to restaurant after a day's work. I love the atmosphere. Eclectic artwork. Old BA style. The staff are all so lovely and welcoming. And I have yet to be disappointed in the food. I tend to eat more fish and chicken. Sometimes steak. Everything has been well prepared, cooked to order. Simple but good. Favorites: Grilled Salmon, Chicken Provanzale and I absolutely love the creamed spinach! I'm going back again tonight! read more

Ok so if your looking for German food this is probably not the place How do I start Well Im in Buenos Aries Argentina that has a rich history of Spanish, Italian, and also German roots. I decided to check this place out and boy was I disappointed in the food . The place itself is nice with lots of history. I think read it was open in the early 1900's and you can certainly tell by entering the place . We sat down and tried ordering basic dishes german goulash soup- nope schnitzel-nope they have breaded steak instead and it was not very good sauerkraut- they had it but it was very sad tasting bratwurst- they did have a hotdog kind of appetizer that was kind of ok Sauerbraten-nope Those are the basics that every German restaurants should have let alone having many other dishes I'm not mentioning. But if you thought you'd get German fair you're out of luck , it's a German restaurant in name only , like everything else in the world customs change and hardly anyone is looking for German food , really? Over the years I have attended several times, the service and food were always excellent, UNTIL TODAY: We reserved a table for three people in advance for 8:30, we arrived at 8:20 we had to wait seeing how diners without reservation were served before. After waiting a long time, they offer us a table in a corner next to the entrance door, in which all the people waiting for a table almost crowded on it. In good manners we ask for another one and very reluctantly they offer us a table in the back. The first sign of disgust at not accepting the table was perceived when other tables served the traditional reception Sherry but in our case, they ignored it. The second sign was that they ignored the wine list and the third half-loaded the bread basket. We chose sirloin with mustard from the menu, they told us that at that time they didn't have any, so we chose gnocchi with goulash (which were always excellent). When they served them, instead of the traditional sauce, they brought a kind of red broth, chirlo con carne, which was very far from deserving the name of goulash or goulash or simply "sauce". Really, I don't understand if they changed owners or if they didn't like that we didn't accept the poorly located table they wanted to impose on us or if it was simply discrimination but it really isn't hard to understand how you can go from excellence to so much mediocrity in such a short time. One could say "there are many diners" but we saw that the treatment was different, so I still do not understand what has happened in Zum Edelweis. Taking the situation with a bit of humor, it could be assumed that perhaps the flower of the Edeweiss (Leontopodium Alpinum) was withering with the pandemic.
