The location is idyllic - on a nice lake with lovely nature trails, and lots of outdoor things going on. They have a nice biergarten and a little playground just as you pull in - very inviting! (in fact the Biergarten serves food too, but I did not try it - this time!) I ate 3 times in the restaurant and have nothing but perfect things to say. I had pork medallions (translates poorly from German I think), Münchner Schnitzel, and an onion/beef roast (again translates poorly). They were excellent - big portions, well seasoned, and tender. The pork was especially good. The side dishes made this from 4 star to 5 - the noodles, potatoes, and fresh accompaniments were just perfect - I wish I could find such noodles (like Spätzle) here int he USA - I would weigh 300 pounds! The indoor seating is great in winter (ate once in Feb), but the outdoor seating in Summer is yet another boost for this place - you can sit right on the little lake (pics to be posted) and have a nice dinner Service was good (for German standards lol), and the struedel was outstanding (post a pic). Will be back many many times, as our office is very close to this place and I will make a point to return!

The food was a nouveau German styled cuisine, with classic favorites updated. I had the deer medallions in a rich gravy sauce and it was fantastic. The meat was tender and the Zweigelt I picked to drink with it was wonderful. The chocolate cake for dessert was a tad dry, but still hit the spot. Prices were a bit more than other places, but not outrageous. A delicious last meal in Germany before leaving for the US.

This little gem is settled nicely on the banks of the Wuerm river; a nice leisurely bike ride from…read morePasing. The scenery from this biergarten is really nice, settled under the trees and next to an old hotel - which is structurally pleasant to look at - the beer runs cold, the ducks float freely down the Wuerm, and it's hard to think you're still actually within Munich! I like this place because it is a bit off the beaten track, and although it does fill up, it has a nice crowd of people looking to have a good time. The food is about standard for the rest of the biergartens around Munich (however, I have not yet tried their chicken so I don't know how it holds up agains the reigning champ - in my opinion - the Hirschgarten). My fiancee and I enjoy riding our bikes to Insel-Muehle because (from our house) it is not only great excercise for us, but our dog as well. We get about 3/4 of the way there and take a quick swim before heading to the biergarten for a "treat".
