Had two wonderful meals there this week and the service is great too. My "Waiter" made me feel special and the atmosphere is nice too.

Relaxing, charming, a real taste of Bavarian hospitality. The facility is brand new (opened in early 2013) and is run by Elisabeth and her two sisters. A very charming B&B that I would highly recommend. The homemade pastries and jams are the best. Food is prepared using things from their garden... It is a very delightful and peaceful setting. It is also quite inexpensive compared to other accommodations in and around Munich. It is a short drive to downtown Munich and surrounding sites. I had a wonderful weekend and am surely going to come back with my wife someday

A drive into the country took us to a charming village and to the restaurant itself. The owner (Erik?) took care of us and explained the menu in both German and English. The menu is changed quite frequently and is never printed, just chalked up on a board for reference. When asked for recommendations, Erik told me that he works closely with the chef on the menu and that there's nothing on there that they don't both love. After a full dinner there, it's not hard to believe that statement. I started with a sweet potato and lemon soup; while I'm not normally a fan of sweet potatoes, this soup was well balanced between the fullness of the tuber and the sharpness of the lemon, with just a bit of spice (paprika, perhaps?) cutting through it. Pasta served with fresh, white truffles followed the soup and the dish really highlighted the truffles and the wonderfully fresh pasta. A chocolate torte with fresh cream finished the meal. Erik's bar is also excellent. I had a glass of Prosecco blended with white peaches as an apertif, followed by a glass of white wine that the owner recommended, and an excellent espresso.

We were grateful they didn't turn us away as we didn't have a reservation. They really were too busy to accept our business, but they seated us anyway. Our server was one of only two guys waiting tables for the entire restaurant. It took quite awhile for him to notice us, but once he did, he hustled! Everything we needed, he came through on delivering quickly. I honestly don't know how he did it, the poor guy was overworked! Our food was excellent and came out fairly quickly. The restaurant has an inviting, rustic, charm and diners seemed to stay long and linger for hours. This was one of the better restaurants we enjoyed during our two weeks in Munich and South Tyrol.

I suppose a visit to Southern Germany isn't complete until visiting a biergarten even when not…read morebeing much of a beer drinker. This particular Gashof is quite a large site with patio seating, an indoor restaurant, and then a fairly large biergarten with a play area for kids! This was where we did the rehearsal dinner for my little brother's wedding, and it was a great pick. As it was a remarkably warm and sunny day, the inside portion of the restaurant was closed, as was the patio (both which are super attractive to the eye) however, the biergarten was bustling with what felt like a majority of the town! There are a lot of really large trees that canopy the biergarten which keep it shady and cooler. The tables are smaller but can easily be pushed together which we did for our larger party. Chairs are a bit flimsy. The food is typical German cuisine. I found the gravy for my roladen was fairly salty, but the roladen itself was one of the best I ever remember having! (no offense mom!) We received mixed up salad which was fairly decent. There was something in there I wasn't sure what it is, but it wasn't good so I left that for my wife! I don't remember if she even ate that. Service was quick for our meals though there was a lot of confusion as to who ordered what but could be our fault since our large families spread out to different tables which I'm sure made this a bit of a nighmare to also breakout the bill. Sorry! All in all a fun and memorable experience.

The place has a lovely posh white cloth restaurant with a nice outdoor terrace and of course you can get table service here. There is also a self service Biergarten here with food and beer. The self service area has a smokehouse where you can get smoked ribs and other BBQ meats. The restaurant menu is quite extensive with a variety of Bavarian dishes. I chose the Wild Saibling filet which came with a risotto and foam. The risotto was nice and creamy and tasted great but the fish was slightly overcooked for my linking. I did however clean my plate. I also tasted the other dishes our group ordered and it was also good. The food is presented beautifully and looks like modern German/Bavarian cuisine. It is a fairly expensive Biergarten and it was approximately €30 per person for a drink, meal, coffee and water, a bit pricey for lunch. I imagine dinner prices are higher than that. I would come back here again. It's quieter and the focus is on presentation and good quality. A nice location close to the Isar.
