This traditional Bavarian restaurant is located along a footpath by the Rhine so I highly recommend going for a walk either before dining in order to work up an appetite (and while there is still light) or afterwards to aid in digestion. With the beautiful homes lining the path and the many ships gliding by, you won't regret it! The entire menu looks great but we were there for one thing and one thing only: the roast goose with dumplings and blaukraut (red cabbage). (Check out my tip - this is a special offered only for the holiday season). This is a traditional family dish that we have had every year and I dare say this was better than the one prepared by my father-in-law. The goose was juicy and delectable and the skin was crispy and full of flavor. The brown gravy that was served for the table went perfectly with the dumplings and the blaukraut. There is a bread basket full of Bavarian pretzels and German breads served with delicious garlic quark (yogurt like) waiting for you at the table but don't fill up with this, the plates are substantial. This will definitely be on our list of restaurants to frequent whenever we are in Bonn.

The manager/owner came over and greeted us and explained the differences between a German restraunt and an Austrian one. He suggested the Wiener schnitzel and we both ordered that. We walked us through their wine list and we took his recommendation on an Austrian white that was very good, paired well with the schnitzel and was reasonably priced. I visit Germany A couple of times a year and would say this was probably the best schnitzel I can remember. Fork tender and great flavor. Great alternative to the touristy hustle-and-bustle of the Altstadt area. Will visit them again on my next vIsit to Dusseldorf.

The cheese schnitzels were exactly as you could imagine, crispy crunchy on the outside with a golden crusty and ooey gooey stretchy cheese on the inside, paired with either sauce it was fantastic. Jaegar sauce was packed with mushrooms in a brown gravy and the Balkan were fresh chopped onions, a flavorful red sauce and a white sauce with fresh herbs. Amazing amazing. Easily one of the best meals I had on my trip. Oh I made a reservation by the way so not sure how walking in would look like. Staff were very nice.

Massive portions (I couldn't finish it) and perfectly cooked and seasoned veal made this dish about as close to a 10 as you can get. The spaetzle was about what you would expect. The service was friendly and timely which I appreciated. This is worth traveling for.

We chose to eat outside. We opted for fondue and what a perfect choice it was. Bread and veg for dipping. We also got a soft pretzel for fondue dipping. Drank Spaten beer, a refreshing, classic Bavarian beer. The fondue was some of the best cheese ever. It was Gruyère, Appenzeller (a firm Swiss), and Emmentaler (semi-hard yellow cheese) with cherry brandy and white wine. Served with potatoes, bread, and as mentioned above other veg. This centre city establishment is a must-eat.
