We immediately stopped what we were doing and ventured inside. The inside is quaint and continues that Bacharach feel of a mom-and-pop shop. We were served immediately and got to taste the Riesling...oh my it tasted just like the wine. For those that have never tried, Riesling is typically a sweeter white wine, and it blends perfectly as a frozen treat. Also, what are you doing in Germany's wine country and you don't know what Riesling is!? And yes, this place comes Rick Steves recommended.

With most meals you get a cup of soup, salad and a main dish. It was very feeling and delicious! I ordered the slice roast w/gravy and potatoes. She served us a barley soup and a salad as well. They have a wonderful seating area out front to where you can watch everyone shop, enjoy the beautiful weather all while having a beir! We visited around noon and most of the shops around town were closed. I suggest traveling here a bit later or on a weekend for more shopping opportunities. Enjoy!

I started off on a cold rainy day with a delicious dill and vegetable soup and a glass of local Riesling - superb with a lovely garden salad. I am a fool for traditional Goulash, which was also perfect with spaetzle. Followed with handmade Tirolean apple strudel, and just one more glass Riesling and was ready to go back out and brave the rain. If you are walking, biking driving or sailing the Rhine, this is a lovely, tasty and friendly place to grab a bite without too much damage to your wallet!

I know it is an Italian restaurant but we wanted to sample some German culture so we had the breaded Chicken Schnitzel with French fries and cranberries. It was a good choice. Two thinly cut pieces of chicken breast fried to perfection and the French fries were cooked fresh and needed no seasoning. The service was very good and friendly and English was not a problem with our waiter. The prices were very good and it would have been more expensive in the United States. There were lots of options in town and we chose the right one.
