Rather than the traditional Bavarian food, they were featuring Vienna cuisine and beer. There was also a three person band performing Austrian songs for the patrons and though they were a bit pushy with their CD sales, it added to the atmosphere. We sat in the immense beer garden which was populated with locals, their dogs, and their kids at the on-premises playground. It made for a very welcoming, authentic feeling. Service was very good and attentive. We sat for a few hours enjoying the sights and sounds and had a few rounds of beer and the moment we put an empty glass down, we were asked if we wanted more. The waitresses were all clad in traditional Bavarian drindles which was a bit cheesy but didn't feel forced. I don't recall the names of what we ordered and the special menu isn't on their site anymore, but everything was delicious. I got a steak that was covered in crunchy onions and came with some delicious fried potatoes on the side. My wife got the tafelspitz which was covered in fantastic gravy sauce. Weichandhof is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon or evening soaking in the atmosphere, some good traditional food, and some delicious beer.

There was a wedding party in the adjacent barn like building and it was very festive and fun. The restaurant itself is beautiful, wood detailing and perfect traditonal decor. It's cozy, comfortable, and inviting. The service and kitchen are very efficient and our meals arrived in good time. I had the schweinhaxen and it was excellent, along with a plump well prepared dumpling.The cabbage I had to accompany it was delicious. I would come back here again and again if it wasn't so far from home. This is a must do if in the area, or even worth a trip to it as a destination.

At the Wirt you get good value for your money by Grünwald standards. Friendly and efficient service. Not to mention an atmosphere very fitting to Munich's suburbs: you could call it upscale modern-bavarian. Kids who clean their plates get to venture into the kitchen to scoop their own ice-cream for dessert . Plenty of off-street parking. The Wirt is my local go-to restaurant for an evening of casual fine-dining.

I was pleasantly surprised by the popcorn soup and the waiter, Meesho (sp?) gave great recommendations for vegetarian food and red wine as I couldn't read the menu. The menu is large including even a vegetarian selection (which is rare in this part of the world). We enjoyed the food very much. Almost perfect. The pasta was a little too oily, but perhaps that is also a matter of personal taste. The place seems to be newly renovated. The whole set up is traditional, yet in a modern style basic version. If you are a tourist looking for a pretty restaurant with heads of dead animals lining the walls, this is not the place. They even gave wifi. Which is also rare. Like all other Bavarian restaurants I know, they don't except credit card payment. Toilets are very clean. Apparently Tuesdays schnitzels are only 10 euro. No music was playing and the acoustics of the place are not great, making it noisy quickly. Nevertheless 5 star.
