Every situation is different, but I ... really don't understand the low ratings in some of these reviews. Our taxes are usually pretty simple enough to handle on my own. But a couple of years back we retained Zweig & Associates for a one-off problem that was above my pay grade. I worked with Jacqueline, Michelle, and Adam, all of them diligent, efficient, and helpful. They resolved our (rather profound) tax issues, charged a reasonable rate, and didn't push any other services. I'd happily use them again. read more

I had an appointment with accountant Debbie Campos at Zweig & Assoc. CPA firm in Newport Beach at 3/24/26 for my yearly difficult tax return. However, in the morning of that day, some front desk person called to say Debbie is not in today, and she'd call me, only after I pushed her with question. I waited next day for a call and called 2 days after that, I spoke with a man at Zweig Co. and explained that I really need another appointment for my taxes. He said that she's in meeting, he would give her the msg. Again I received no call, nothing from her or the company for the next whole week, during which I became very anxious. Around Thursday I called H & R for a tax appointment and felt better, still not receiving any call at all from Zweig Co or Debbie. Then on the next Monday Debbie left a haughty msg. on my phone, not apologizing or anything, just in an insolent tone asking me to call her back. I am still stunned by this non-responsive, unprofessional, yes even totally rude behaviour from them all at Zweig Co. What kind of business ist this? Guess they don't want business, at least not my business it seems. TG, there are still other very professional tax people like my accountant at H&R, which was so excellent and kind, even got money back for me. My warning to you about this Zweig & Assoc. One of the worst experiences I've ever had, which is a shame b/c they came highly recommended. We took our paperwork down to the office along with documents for my mom's estate. We heard nothing back for three weeks. We called to check on the status twice, and could not reach anyone by phone: one message to call us back went unreturned. After three weeks we were told they lost our documents! NO OWNERSHIP of this error either! We were told this never happens (it just did)....we were told we'd probably taken them to the CPA office downstairs (we did not)...we were even told that the fact they were in a manilla folder vs. an envelope was the reason they were lost (who says that)? THEN...we were told they were shredded by accident, but they could not be sure. At that point, I emailed to ask for identity theft protection for both accounts...as soon as $$ was on the line, Lo and behold...THEY FOUND THE DOCUMENTS..and then there was a flood of email communication to berate ME for being upset!! The worst part of this is....there was a lot of pushback and attitude on the phone, as well as several nasty emails .One email stated that Jacqueline only works for 'nice clients'. I suppose that I was viewed as 'not nice' b/c I was upset about being ignored for three weeks w/calls unreturned, I was asking for protection from id theft when the documents were unaccounted for, and ultimately, I was lied to (told docs were shredded when they were not). PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION. This office had many chances to behave in a professional way, yet chose not to at every juncture of this transaction. Did I mention we were brand new clients? I've been coming to Zweig and associates for about 20 years now. I'm not quite sure what the other bad review is about but this office is the real deal. I've had the pleasure of having our Taxes prepared by David, Jaquline, and now the latest addition to the company Nick. These CPA's take a normally painful experience and somehow make it... Shall I say, great? I know tax season isn't something anyone looks forward to but we're definitely happy to have found this Place. Located close to John Wayne airport and it's close proximity to the freeway, it's an easy jaunt from anywhere in Orange County. I drive from Long Beach but would have no problem at all driving from San Diego if I had to. They are that good! read more

I'm pretty sure I already left a bad review for this company but apparently I didn't. Long story short... Nothing good to say about this company. I would NEVER choose to have my taxes done through this company again. The whole process has been nothing but a headache for me. The lady who filed our tax return was Debbie Campos. I don't know if she's new or just has no idea what she's doing. I'm just crossing my fingers hoping that she didn't make any major mistakes on my actual tax return. She entered my address incorrectly so my tax return was not delivered. After waiting over 2 months, I emailed her inquiring the about the status of our return. She admitted to inputting the wrong address and said the refund checks were returned undeliverable. So I had to spend an hour and a half (mostly on hold) with the IRS to give them the proper address for the federal return. Then over 3 hours waiting for a call back from the state to give them the correct address. I paid for the tax services before my return was even filed. I have since received 4 invoices asking for payment. Each time I receive an invoice, I have called and spoken to Patty about this and her response is always "hm I'll have to look into that let me call you back tomorrow" and guess who never calls back?! If you guessed patty, you are correct! Don't waste your time or money. read more

Been a client for 5+ years...I see some really negative reviews here and was curious so looked at those posters other "Reviews"...Shocker, nothing but bad reviews wherever they post. Angry people...Grrrr!...lol. David has been great, staff friendly. Do they get busy at tax time? Yes. What good CPA wouldn't? Can someone make a mistake? Of course!!!(Oh my gosh, how dare a human being be anything less than perfect 100% of the time!!!...lol)...Anyways, its about fixing it fast if there's a mistake. I use the payroll service also. Debbie has always been on it. I'll be leaving this complainers paradise soon out of state and plan to continue using David and staff. read more

Terrible. I was directed to Zweig & Associates by a work colleague and I must have called about 20 times now to try to organsise an appointment but no answer. They put me through to their voicemail and I've left 2 messages with my name and number but no call back. They claim to get back to you within 24 hours but it has been 2 weeks now and no sign of a call back. I guess they don't want my business so I shall be looking elsewhere read more

I've been using Jacqueline since maybe 2016, I found her on Yelp actually! She's a young ambitious woman who loves her family and staff. This a real family run firm with a long history of success to guide any entrepreneur, employed person or small business. I personally own a complicated small business where I have 5 consultants to pay ... Zweig is not the fastest to get paperwork done, that I can say (hehe), BUT it does get done properly and they always have quick answers to my questions.. I will be with them for a long time and I have recommended this office to many. read more

If you want a tax liability and owe more money than the taxes ZWEIG & Associates prepares, use ZWEIG & Associates! We have had 2 errors in two years that have required an amount due! This is all a result of their error in their calculation! We have reached out to them once we get "that letter" and they are unresponsive and they never want to admit fault. We didn't get a response until the due date so in order to avoid penalties we paid the state bill. Their response was, "yes we made a mistake and you do owe!" Oops! Sorry....Their response is David is on vacation and when he returns we'll have him sign to $10 check as reimbursement. The penalties and fees are substantially more than $10? Really? Aren't our accountants supposed to protect our interest and ensure their accounting is accurate? Not here! If an error is made it is their responsibility to cover the penalties and interest but thats not what is practiced here, the cost becomes your responsibility when the government documents clearly states otherwise and clearly states what their responsibilities are (for their mistake!)! They wait until the due date and say, we'll credit you next year! Uh, no we're done! Since using David ZWEIG we have owed more money then we ever have and he does nothing to guide us in a way an accountant should by avoiding these unnecessary costs. He passes your taxes on to the lower level associates and "reviews" the taxes, yet we still get a tax bill stating errors are made. I guess that "review" wasn't accurate or maybe he was on vacation?! When we have tried to talk to David ZWEIG about about our concerns, good luck if you can even get a hold of him! The last thing you want is to have your taxes come back with errors on a regular basis. If you get audited I know for a fact that the last person or firm I want representing me is ZWEIG & Associates! I have never felt so vulnerable since using David ZWEIG & Associates! Beware and you have been put on notice! read more

WORST EVER!!!!!!!! If there was a negative star rating I would 100% choose that. Jaqueline NEVER CALLED ME BACK. I left several messages with the front desk to please have someone call me because I dropped off my paper work WEEKS AGO. I finally get a call back on the FIFTEENTH. The day of the deadline! Jaqueline calls at 7:45pm but I was at work so I didn't answer. I finally check my messages and she says "I'm sorry to tell you but I have to file and extension because we weren't able to get your returns done on time". ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! And they still expected I PAY THEM?! So I called today (the 16th) to tell them I want my paperwork back and that I will be by later today to pick it up. When I got here, they had NO IDEA what I was talking about at the front desk. They couldn't find it anywhere, Jacqueline wasn't here, neither was her assistant MICHELLE. So I had to leave without my paperwork cause they couldn't f'n find it. This place is a joke. I will never come back, I will make sure everyone I know never comes here. They are completely unprofessional, rude, and didn't even do the job they were supposed to do. So now I have to find a place to do my taxes because an extension was filed. Unacceptable! read more
