The Egyptian Musuem is part of the collection of the Egyptological Institute of the University of Bonn. whew!
I visited on a very rainy Sunday, since our Welcome to Bonn packet included a free pass. At first, I was a bit underwhelmed, since the exhibit is actually quite small and takes up only one room of about 100 square meters (I'm guessing).
However, once we started to examine the exhibits, the space became much more interesting. Although the descriptions are all in German - and the text can be difficult to translate, the artifacts themselves are quite amazing. From personal items to sarcophagi (which, I guess, are also technically personal), the university's collection is really beautiful and informative.
I would recommend booking a tour in your native language in order to fully enjoy this small, but delightful, museum. read more
