I wanted to wait until I was back home to write an honest review of my experience with Dr. Serkan…read moreAygin Clinic. Traveling from the United States to Turkey for a hair transplant is a big decision, and I can genuinely say the entire experience exceeded my expectations.
Everything started through WhatsApp. Communication was excellent from my initial consultation through the end of my trip. From the moment I landed in Istanbul, everything was taken care of. My driver was waiting with a spotless Mercedes Sprinter, and all transportation between the airport, hotel and clinic was organized, comfortable and professional.
I upgraded my stay to the Istanbul Marriott Hotel Şişli, and it was absolutely worth it. The complimentary Turkish breakfast every morning was incredible, along with the room service, housekeeping and hospitality. Between the Marriott, private transportation and clinic, I honestly felt like royalty during my time in Turkey.
My 1st day included a 3D scan and consultation with Dr. Serkan Aygin himself. He examined my donor area, personally drew my hairline and initially recommended around 4,800 grafts. I appreciated his honesty and how he explained what was realistic for my donor area and long term results.
Surgery was around 8 hours, and I cannot give enough credit to the Bekdaş team who performed my operation. The extraction took around 2 hours, and throughout the day they kept me comfortable with a blanket, music, constant check ins and a break with a really nice sandwich. Their compassion stood out more than anything. I never felt like just another patient... they truly treated me like family.
There was also 1 female doctor whose name I unfortunately can't remember who deserves recognition. Even after surgery, she came into the recovery area while I was eating my late lunch just to check on me. That small gesture said a lot about the level of care I received.
The biggest surprise came at the end of surgery. I went in expecting around 4,800 grafts and found out the Bekdaş team had actually transplanted 5,601 grafts! They gave me the hairline and full head coverage I had dreamed about, leaving only a small area toward the back that may eventually need additional density. For now, I plan to continue Propecia and minoxidil as directed, let everything grow in and hopefully return within the next year for a smaller follow up if needed.
The post op care was just as impressive. Yusuf and Emre were great throughout the process, and Yusuf personally walked me through my post transplant treatment kit step by step. He explained exactly when and how to use the Hair Repair Shampoo, Hair Repair Serum, supplements, Hair Complex Meso Serum, dermaroller system and the clinic's own minoxidil hair growth formula. From talking with previous patients online, many consider their formula a must have.
The quality of the kit is impressive. Living in Los Angeles and knowing Beverly Hills pricing, I feel comparable premium products and treatments could easily cost $1,000+. More importantly, they didn't just hand me products and send me home... Yusuf made sure I understood exactly how to care for my transplant.
I also had PRP, Scarlet X RF microneedling and laser hair removal while in Turkey. The team was incredibly compassionate and helped coordinate everything around my limited time without making me feel rushed.
From the 1st WhatsApp message to the airport pickup, Marriott stay, meeting Dr. Serkan Aygin, my 8 hour surgery with the Bekdaş team, 5,601 grafts and the post op care... I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
A huge thank you to Dr. Serkan Aygin, the Bekdaş team, Yusuf, Emre, the doctors, nurses, drivers and everyone involved in taking care of me. The hospitality I experienced also made me fall in love with Turkey, and I already know I'll be back.
If you're in the United States researching hair transplants and wondering whether traveling all the way to Turkey is worth it... for me, it absolutely was.
5,601 grafts later, I finally have the hairline and coverage I dreamed about. Now I can't wait to watch it grow. 5 stars without hesitation!
