Full confession: I've never tried cheese grits. But if I were ever to do it, this is the place!! With bacon this good-you can trust Trip's to take everything to the next level.
I stopped in on a Tuesday morning-really hungry for a great breakfast and a new restaurant to add to my rotation. I got both. This is the Seminole Heights location-on Florida Ave, not too far north of Salty Donut.
It's in a building that I believe, dates back to the 1920s. It's quaint and charming inside-comfy-with vintage photos on the wall and retro maps and post cards as part of the table tops. There's a very cute counter with stools in the back. And you'll feel like a regular on your first visit, thanks to the servers. They're so welcoming-in this completely laid back kind of way. I loved it.
I also enjoyed my meal! I had the egg white omelet-with spinach and feta (I nixed the tomato and onions) and wheat toast. They were also kind enough to make their breakfast potatoes for me without onions. So good! I added a side of bacon and it was divine-well done but not burnt or hard... just yummy. I'd go back just for the bacon! But this is a big menu-I have much more exploring to do.
Trip's gets its name from the owners' triplets. (I believe their initials form the logo, but check me on that). There's a private parking lot right by the restaurant. They serve breakfast all day-and I think lunch and dinner all day, too (if I read the front windows correctly).
This is a cozy and comfy place to be. I can't wait to come back. read more
