This small but cozy Mexican restaurant located in downtown Roanoke is where people of all ages gravitate when they're in the mood for Mexican food. It has a cozy indoor seating area as well as a small refreshing outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice.
Posted near the entrance is an extensive menu with almost all Mexican food items one can think of as well as nice variety of special drinks. What distinguishes this Mexican restaurant from the others is that they not only offer complimentary chips with salsa, but they also have a "Salsa Bar," with different kinds of salsas for you to enjoy with your chips.
When I arrived at the restaurant I received a warm greeting from one of the hosts/servers, who was happy to know that I spoke Spanish and could easily communicate with me in his native language. While I studied the extensive menu, he brought me the glass of iced water that I had ordered to drink and a basket of fresh tortilla chips. I went over to the Salsa Bar and filled two little plastic bowls wirh salsas: one with mild Salsa and one with corn Salsa, and brought them back with me to my table. My server gave me enough time to enjoy my chips with the salsas before he approached to take my order. As my main entrée I ordered the Chimichangas with soft tortillas and filled with Shredded Beef. They also came topped with cheese dip and served with red rice, refried beans, lettuce, sour cream and guacamole.
While I waited I enjoyed my chips with salsas and went up to the Salsa Bar for some more. I also looked around and admired the simple decorated but clean place that created a comfortable ambiance where to enjoy some good food. As I waited the restaurant got fuller and fuller. Some customers seemed to be steady customers while others seem to be there for the first time, all having a love for Mexican food in common. Even though this restaurant did not have a parking lot of its own. There were many of on street parking and parking garages near by.
My food arrived and it tasted delicious. It was nice and hot and the Shredded Beef was soft and moist just like it should be. Time for dessert came and I ordered a Xango, which was a rich smoosmooth cheesecake, rolled in a melt-in-your-mouth, flaky pastry tortilla. Drizzled with chocolate and topped with Whipped Cream. It arrived and tasted very good. The other three dessert menu items also seemed very appetizing for the next time I come eat here. They were: Flan, Fried Ice-cream Cream, and Churros or Apple Churros.
