After a matinee with my aunt, we headed to Trattoria Trecolori for an early dinner--and everything lined up perfectly. Even though we had a reservation, we arrived ahead of schedule and were seated right away, which felt like a small miracle in Midtown. Service was friendly and attentive from start to finish. Our server kept my water glass consistently full (always appreciated), and we each enjoyed a glass of wine to unwind after the show. As someone with a gluten allergy, I was glad to see they offer gluten-free options, though I do wish there were a few more to choose from. It's manageable, but the menu can feel a bit limited depending on your preferences. We started with the caprese and prosciutto, which was fresh, simple, and well-executed. My aunt ordered a veal marsala, and I went with the seafood risotto since it was gluten-free. The risotto was creamy and satisfying, loaded with seafood and full of flavor. That said, for the price point, I wouldn't have minded a slightly more generous portion--but that's pretty typical for the area. We were starving and dove in right away (careful--it comes out piping hot), and everything really hit the spot. Dessert was the only miss for me. The gluten-free options were limited to sorbet or tartufo, so we decided to skip it this time. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance--lively without being overwhelming, and perfect for catching up over dinner. By the time we left, the place was packed, which says a lot. Bonus points for free Wi-Fi, which you don't always find. Parking is exactly what you'd expect in NYC: pricey and a bit of a challenge, so plan accordingly.
