My day of exploring Broad Ripple continued with another great find: Upland Brewing's new expanded Tasting Room. After grabbing some convenient parking in a lot across 49th, I entered the dining area, but decided to head into the bar area since I wanted to sample some of the sour beers that Upland has become known for.
After sampling a few of their options, the bartender Carson suggested one called "Petal to the Kettle" (6% 5 IBU) based upon what I had tried. That was the winner! I settled in with a pint and enjoyed the mildly tart ale with hibiscus, rose petal, and strawberry puree. Very refreshing! I could see sipping this one pool side (if I still had a pool!)
They do offer meal options and the dining room appears to be open to all ages, though I think the back area may still be an adults only section.
The only request I have is that when they offer flights (6 for $7), that they would have a sours option...I don't mind if you have a different price. I just don't live close enough to visit Upland that often (halfway between Bloomington and Broad Ripple makes for a drive either way.)
