Wasn't planning on going anywhere before I found this, now that I have I'm thinking a jaunt up the seaboard might be in order. This station dates back almost to the turn of the century, the colonial revival style blends in well with the greater Kannapolis downtown revitalization project which is slated to include minor league baseball (but that will be another review). The station opened to passengers in late 2004, nine years later a canopy was added to protect passengers from weather phenomena while waiting for one of the eight daily trains.
There's a big fancy clock out front with the departure times heading north and south. Easy in, easy out but I'm not sold on the practicality of day tripping around the Piedmont. Until more trains are added I'd be more inclined to weekends away. Not sure how ticketing and baggaging work because I've only had a brief look but how tough can it be? yea trains! read more
