Booked an appointment, brought my dog, and they said it would be an hour and a half before they could start working on her. Unexpected as that is what I was trying to avoid, hence booking the appointment. They were going to have her wait in a kennel until then, but my dog never spends time in a kennel at home, or with people she doesn't know unless I'm around, so I took her back home with me and had them call me when it was her turn. We came back almost 3 hours later, and they got to work on her. There is a window where you can watch what's happening during the grooming process, which really helped with peace of mind, as this was the first time I'm meeting the employees, and dogs get mishandled if you're not careful who you leave them with, same with children. It's no different than wanting to trust the people you leave your children with at daycare if that's the route you take as a parent. There was a bench in the foyer inviting me to sit, so I sat and waited. It comes time to pay, I'm told typically for no kennel time, there's an express fee. They did not charge me for it because they did not tell me initially, which I was thankful for. Probably something they should mention on a website if they had one. I was next asked something that caught me off guard, and that was if I had been recording while I waited. My answer was a truthful no, but the question came across as unprofessional and had nothing to do with me. That would be an interior design flaw that needs to be brought up to the manager without involving the customer with a rather awkward and off-putting question. The business' lobby is in an area where customers happen to be able to hear what the employees are saying in the back. That has nothing to do with the customer. The employees should have the ability to discern whether or not they should speak about certain things as they are aware of the layout and acoustics of the building they work in. The customers are in earshot of any and all private conversations whether they want to be or not, so it was a bit out of line to ask me that. As far as the grooming, I keep coming back to edit this, because the longer I sit on it, the more I am just not happy with this cut. My dog was not severely matted the way the groomer made her seem, aside from her ears, which she hates being messed with. She had two little matted spots on her muzzle, and a few stragglers in between her legs that could have been cut off with scissors. Her body, neck, face and legs were not matted. I'd asked for a teddy bear cut initially, and solely based off her ears, she held up about an inch with her fingers and said her hair would be about (this) long, yet she shaved her down entirely. She is a very curly goldendoodle, she's going to have some matting as that is the nature of her fur! I have curly hair myself so I would know. That doesn't mean shave her down to nothing. What I asked for initially was entirely feasible. I posted a before and after. As you can see in her before pictures, she was long and fluffy! Not severely matted! Her face let alone her entire body did not need to be shaved down like this. I'm so sad that this is the result of what I asked for. Highly disappointed. read more
