We went to Atria for a holiday dinner and had a great experience at the chef's counter. While the counter itself is a little uncomfortable, as they're trying to cram too many people at it, I liked seeing what was happening in the kitchen. We started with complimentary chips and dip, which was a delicious munch to go along with our review of the menu. We ordered the coal roasted beets, both kinds of oysters, hot and cold, the roasted bone marrow, and the Sonoma duck. The chef also comped us a tasting of the cacio e pepe. The beets were my favorite of all the dishes--beautifully presented and yummy. Everything in the bowl was beets, even though the textures and appearance were varied. Brilliant. My second favorite was the duck, which was perfectly cooked. All the dishes were well executed both in taste and presentation. The spiced apple reminded me of a similar dish I had in the Netherlands, so that was a nice memory! Yes, Atria is a splurge, but it's worth it. read more
